Imitrex for sinus headaches

Common Questions and Answers about Imitrex for sinus headaches

imitrex

Avatar f tn I know I have Imitrex and I'm on Topamax for preventative. This is more tension than migraine...it's almost as painful, but different type of pain. And the Imitrex only works if it's a true migraine and I've wasted the last 3 Imitrex hoping it would help, and those suckers aren't cheap!!! But I REALLY appreciate the advice....I really do.
Avatar m tn So I started taking aspirin and the pain goes away for a few days then came back, after a couple weeks I had a sinus infection, it was really bad, and the headaches kept coming, when I get them, there is pressure in behind my forehead but when I shake my head side to side, the pain is horrible, until I take an aspirin, then it goes away. Still have the sinus infection now, but Ive had these headaches for like a month, I have no med insurance, so I can't see a doc.
Avatar f tn Also my Aunt has terrible migraines all the time she was taking all the imitrex she could get was put on a muscle relaxer called soma , and her headaches are much easier to deal with!! GOOD LUCK! HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON!
Avatar f tn Im now on Butorphanol spray, demerol, ativan and sleeping pills, all for pain management, ,i have also been on preventatives for years,i have not worked for 20 yrs from my intense migraines. Although Imitrex im sure works for alot of people which is great if your body reacts well to it, unfortunately for me it didnt. Wishing you well in your journey.
Avatar m tn I have sinus headaches almost daily and they basically render me unable to cocentrate, nauseated and in pain I would say its a 6 or 7 on pain scale. Reluctant to see MD b/c I'm looking for a good PCP and generally they seem to think you have an alterior motive. Any advice or similar experiences? Tried acetaminophen and NSAIDS which I can no longer tolerate due to GI side effects. Are they migraines and what treatments are affective?
Avatar f tn For me decreasing gives me bad headaches. Ibuprofen usually helps. Or sudafed if sinus. They last a couple of days and then go away.
Avatar f tn What can cause a headache at bridge of nose? It happens 2-3 times per month and always lasts 24 hours. I've seen two ENT's and a neurologist but no answers. I've had septoplasty and turbinate reduction but got no relief. Imitrex for migraine helps if I take it at the onset but I don't believe it's a migraine. If I press on the top of my nose it relieves the pain but it comes back as soon as I release.
Avatar m tn That worked for me. And do drink the water. It can help. Also, for me, the headaches lessened with time on treatment.
1103688 tn?1257894552 I'll apologize right away for the length of this post!! I've had migraines for as long as I can remember, and have tried different types of treatments. I take 50 mg of Topomax daily as a prophylactic preventative, and it's greatly reduced the number of severe headaches I get, but I still have "normal" headaches almost daily, and if I don't take care of them they will usually turn into migraines.
Avatar n tn Sharp shooting pains are seen in trigeminal neuralgia whereas pressure headaches are mainly associated with tension headaches. Do consult doctor for investigations. Please visit website http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Headache for more information.
776539 tn?1235582251 Yes sinus infections can be really bad and cause terrible headaches. It is therefore important to diagnose them as soon as possible and take the required treatment. Hopefully you will feel better with current medications as they will take care of sinusitis. Take care!
Avatar n tn I had the surgery five weeks ago - no more cyst. no more symptoms. Go figure. I started having headaches, daily and neck/ear/jaw pain back in May 2010 - sudden onset. . Went to an ENT, a dentist, a TMJ specialist, back to PCP. In June started getting migraines - about 1-2x a week lasting for hours. They did MRI in July and found a pineal cyst 1.2x 1.7x1.0.
Avatar n tn hi, i'm a 22 yr old female who has been suffering from on and off headaches for about 2 years now, it hurts so bad at times that i feel like separating my head from my body. i occassionally do have ovarian cysts once in a while they said its all linked to my hormones, any help on how to avoid these terrible headaches from recurring so frequently and hurting so badly?
Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
397977 tn?1201264847 I have tried in the last few years Imitrex tablets but with my nausea they were awful and I threw up for hours after taking them, thus, not helping the migraines at all. So, after another really bad few weeks with migraines over and over again I went back to the doctor and he prescribed a low dose of amitryptaline and Imetrex Nasal. I am not a pill taker so this was hard for me to accept. But, the migraines were not good for me either.
Avatar n tn I nee help. My mom is 45 and she has terrible headaches everyday. She takes Imitrex. She takes it everyday. She had bad headaches since 10 years ago, but now it's everyday that she has one. It's been like that for a month? What is wrong with her? I hope it's not some kind of tumor. Would migraine pill work for headache caused by tumor?
Avatar f tn also, if someone offered you a medication that worked as well as Imitrex, you would probably use it when you were in pain as a substitute for Imitrex... which all shows that Imitrex is in no way addictive. As for physical dependency... well, I have heard of the triptan Maxalt causing rebound headaches, which could be considered a type of physical dependency maybe... but, out of all of the triptans, the ONLY triptan that has shown this is Maxalt, not Imitrex.
2069693 tn?1331365365 As of now Ive had a migraine for 7 straight days! Its horrible!!! Ive taken Demerol, imitrex, tylenol/cod., Ibuprofen (with caffeine), tomamax...on and on. can someone please suggest, or give me some feed back !
Avatar f tn Other than that, I have been pain free for the past week. Very big news since I have had migraines/headaches for the past 13 years ( 3 migraines a week, headache every day). Yay! BTW, I do feel the on/off numbness, tingling sensation. Just annoying but not too bad. Comes and goes. Thanks.
Avatar n tn t get imitrex tablets, get the imitrex or generic nasal spray or imitrex or generic injection OR treximex tablets but NOT imitrex tablets. - Zolmitriptan. brand name Zomig. this is what i use. (although i have used all of them at some point) don't get the tablets... like imitrex, the tablets don't work. But, the nasal spray DOES work incredibly well and this is what is usually prescribed anyway. - Almotriptan. brand name Axert. a very powerful triptan tablet.
518798 tn?1295212279 I too am very afraid that I have now become addicted to Imitrex. I have been getting migraine headaches for 28 years and have been getting far more intense and often the past few years. This year has been extremely difficult. I am not at the point where I have a migraine headache 3-4 days per week. I take half and imitrex (to save cost) each time. There are occasions when the headache is so bad that I have to take it twice in a 12 hour period.
Avatar f tn I get these terrible headaches usually to one side of my head but they usually only come the week before my menstral and last a couple days with taking some meds like excedrin...well now it has come back before this time and along with it I cant focus on anything I feel dizzy lightheaded and extremely tired but try to lay down and cant sleep the goes from my temple to the side of my neck...Help any ideas of what is causing this...I called dr cant get an appt till thurs....but im worrried...
Avatar n tn I have a friend that has dealt with debilitating migraines all of her life and she swears that the prescription drug Maxalt is the only thing that is effective for her and she has tried many medications including imitrex. She told me they are dissolvable tablets such that if you get sick and vomit, you won't vomit up the medication. I will get a migraine headache every once in a blue moon and I take the regular OTC stuff for it.
Avatar f tn Are they migraines, which is what imitrex is for (not sure of the relevance of coumadin for headaches)? There are natural remedies for migraines, but they'd be different than treating headaches, for which one would need to know what kind of headache.
139385 tn?1231289318 I have dealt with headaches for years. Most otc drugs do nothing for me. I have the constitution of an ox. Alieve might take the edge off if I combine it with Rockstar. These headaches are triggered by just about anything. I can no longer wear hair clips that rest on my scalp. Hats are difficult. Physical exertion and stress don't help. We just replaced our bed and that seems to help my overall tension level.
