777396 tn?1329787551 I first wanted to know about side effects. Second I was reading that this particular drug is not recommended as it could cause some sort of pregnancy issue. Wasn't sure about if that was fact or myth. Any input is appreciated.
Avatar f tn anyway Ive been taking the medroxyprogesterone for 2 1/2 days and no significant side effects...a little sluggish feeling kinda blah and dreaming alot more than usual.....

Any how any time u have intercoarse you have 20% getting pregnant. When did you have sex?
Avatar f tn Hi EAFarm, I recommend googling the name of this medication and see if you can find out what the possible side effects of this drug are and see if there is any mention of an association with breast cancer. I found a helpful site for looking up side effects of various drugs is www.rxlist.com .
Avatar f tn She is quite nervous about the side effects. We dont really know what to expect as I have heard different things from different doctors and nurses. I know it probably effects people differently but I am just wondering if anyone has had any similar experiences that they could share with me as to what to expect?
Avatar f tn Thank you both for your responses and helpful tips. One thing that really seems to help (at least in my case) is keeping my room very cold when I sleep. I don't know why it helps, but my IC symptoms get significantly worse when it gets too hot, especially at night. I actually haven't tried the Elmiron yet because I'm afraid of the side effects (I get side effects from everything these days).
1906894 tn?1321873567 Ive been on medroxyprogesterone for a wk already to hopefully regulate my period but my breast are very sore. I havent felt this soreness since i was pregnant. I know the soreness is normal but I also feel like my breast feel n look bigger. I barely fit a size 34b for over 3 yrs or so n now it fits a lil tight. Is this normal? Are my breast getting bigger? Does my age have something to do with it (20years old).
Avatar n tn Because I am still having pain on urination, I was given another round of antibiotics to take (different antibiotic and suffering significant side effects). I always have residual pain that lasts for many weeks after an infection clears, probably due to postmenopausal urogenital atrophy. How do you know when to say "enough" with the antibiotics when you still have dysuria but a negative culture? (The last urinalysis at the GPs office showed red blood cells but no white ones).
Avatar m tn has anybody used the following herbal remedies, and if yes are there any side-effects? i tried some other things a year ago and came out in a huge rash all over my body.
Avatar f tn I was bleeding for 3 months straight and my obgyn put me on medroxyprogesterone to make it stop. I started it the day before I was predicted to ovulated. I have been off it over a week and was told when I stopped I should spot and then my period should come normally. I have been having unprotected sex and I am 3 days late on my period. I have no clue what is going on. My questions is has anyone taken this and had this problem?
Avatar n tn Thanks but, the Chantix reference was just an example, I never took Chantix, but learned about it's side effects during my research
Avatar f tn I recently found out that I have IC, endo, and Polycystic Ovary Syndrom. I have pain almost all of the time. I feel like my insides from under my ribcage down to my crotch have been taken out, beat with a baseball bat and then shoved back in swollen and bruised. Sound familiar to anyone? I also have severe kidney pain. Is that related to IC? Anyone else have kidney pain. What treatments have worked for you? The Dr.
Avatar m tn if I do decide to take it what side effects may it cause and how should I take it? Also how long should I use it for? What other things should I be using and not be using in terms of supplements, herbs, amino acids and any drugs as a last resort I can suggest to the doctor.
Avatar n tn I also have IC and am an IC support group leader, and director of MOARK IC. Some of us with IC to require pain management medications. If you are in constant pain ask your doctor for a referral to a pain management physician. However as far as exercise I also want to exercise but have increased pain! I am excited about two things I recently found and am adding into my life. One is Pilates for Pelvic Pain, by New Dawn Pilates DVD.
Avatar n tn Hi, You have the typical history of the confusion between IC and a UTI. What is the diagnosis?. IC and UTIs often have the same symptoms and can't be distinguished without a urine culture. What I do in my clinic is to give patients a steril urine cup and the paperwork to submit a urine culture "on demand" when the patient has symptoms, so I always have a culture before treatment.
Avatar m tn s insistence I just began round 2 of treatment with a different antibiotic which is causing such impressive side effects, I may not be able to continue taking them. Last urinalysis showed red blood cells but nothing else. GP said last culture could be false negative due to the recent use of antibiotics, but I really doubt I still have an infection. As someone else said earlier, I think this is caused by continuing inflammation / irritation left from the infection.
Avatar n tn m a little unclear about how long this has been a problem but my first guess is that you are having a repeat of side effects since starting the Butrans pain patch again. You need to talk to a doctor. Until then, be sure you don't lay on the body part where the patch is. That can trap heat and cause faster release (too fast) of the drug into your system. Please find a doctor now that you are with your sister. I'm not sure a narcotic pain patch is the best treatment for IC.
Avatar m tn She seems to know her stuff about IC but still cannot provide me with a possible cause or explanation for my condition. Ive had a cystoscopy and the results were negative for IC. The doctor did not see the hemorrhaging associated with IC. She did mention 2 tubes connecting the kidney instead of the normal 1. The first symptoms started with a presence of bacteria in my urine, prescribed antibiotics but the painful urination continued.
409451 tn?1206896632 Atarax is in the family of antihistamines, commonly used for a cold, and is used in Interstitial Cystitis (IC) therapy. There is some evidence that it works in at least a subset of patients. In IC a specific cell within the bladder wall called a mast cell releases various substances including histamine when stimulated after injury to the bladder lining. Histamine causes inflammation, swelling and activates pain nerve fibers in the bladder causing the symptoms of IC.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Medroxyprogesterone because I was having irregular periods that either were extremely heavy and long or did not exist at all per month. I was prescribed this medicine after getting off of birth control pills with hopes to attempt to conceive with my husband. We've then decided to stop actively trying to conceive for now, but recently I am starting to think about trying again. Will continuing to take medroxyprogesterone help or hurt my chances of getting pregnant?
1430129 tn?1283281475 hello just read ur post and sorry to hear what your going through it's horriable knowing that something is wrong but dr doesn't find it it's good to look at other options.
Avatar n tn I haven't had period since Sept 28 so my Dr put me on medroxyprogesterone 10 days 10mg, but my period came down on day 4. should i continue to finish medroxyprogesterone so should i take metformin???
Avatar f tn Should I be focusing on decreasing the bleeding or trying to resolve the problem such as removal of fibroid? I have heard some people have trouble with Mirena and the side effects? Are the side effects bad or am I just hearing worse case senarios? I am sorry I am asking these questions to you, but I now need to wait 3 months before I meet with my doctor. I do appreciate your time and answers. Thank you for the help.
Avatar n tn I read somewhere on Facebook that some woman with IC was drinking Marshmallow Root tea. However one of the side effects listed via WebMD is that it's a diuretic. Isn't that one of the last things you'd want? Just wondering.
Avatar m tn My OB prescribed me Medroxyprogesterone and advised me to take it if I went longer than 3 months without a period. I took my first course of the meds in early April of 2016 and got my period right after my last dose. Had a period in May with no help, missed June and July so I Started my Medroxyprogesterone again in August and started my period later that same month. Missed September, but as of October and without needing the medroxyprogesterone I have been getting my period every month.
706727 tn?1229093232 I was put on medroxyprogesterone to start my cycles again. I have been having regular cycles now 30 days exactly. But my only problem is that half way through my cycle I have brown spotting. Can anyone give me any advice??
