Common Questions and Answers about Hydrocodone used for

vicodin

Avatar f tn The cut-off value is chosen based on the purpose for which it’s being used e.g. whether for forensic or medical reason. Ask your doctor about this cut-off level. Is the lab detecting minor amounts of hydrocodone -- then this is normal for codeine metabolism. But if it is detecting a therapeutic dose of hydrocodone, then its presence can't be due to the metabolism of codeine. Here's a reference for your doctor's use: http://www.wardelab.com/22-2.html#t1 I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn ve been in pain for about 20. For most of that time, I ran the gambit of opioids from hydrocodone to morphine to fentanyl. If it was on the market, I was eventually told to take it. I got good relief with opioids, but even at the very beginning, I had a tolerance problem. My mother is the same way. She takes a med once and then she's taking the highest possible dose -- not because she wants to, but because the lower doses do not work. I am the same way.
703238 tn?1297098358 You are right everyone is different but vicodin, oxycodone, hydrocodone, fentanyl, ete. are all drugs used for pain such as muscle pain, bone pain, cancer pain or complications after cancer. They are never used for Bipolar treatment. You really do need to see a psychiatrist and let them know what you are using. You are only setting yourself up for a great fall. What happens when you can't get those drugs anymore?
Avatar m tn I recently have gotten so fed up with taking these pills. I used to take on occasion 8 pills a day but for the most part I would take 3-4 pills everyday on a regular basis. As soon as I got up and then I would take some with me everywhere I went. I have been off the pills for 4 days now. For me I tapered from 4 a day down to 3 a day for a one month period. I then went to 2 a day and found myself taking 3 again. It was hard to stick to the 2 a day.
Avatar f tn I honestly am not sure if Fioricet would be helpful for treating carpal tunnel pain. How old is your daughter? Was the hydrocodone your daughter taking prescribed for the carpal tunnel? It does sound like she was taking a lot of the medication (sounds like more than would have been prescribed). I suggest that she seek a second opinion for an orthopedic doctor or a neurologist in regards to the carpal tunnel. There are surgeries for this issue that can relieve the pain greatly. Good luck.
12946799 tn?1427894912 I went for years believing that every woe I ever had, was attributed from residule effects of being busted up so badly and healing crooked.... I am now in a catagory of Fibromalgia.... It is a broad term used for too many unexplainable things. It is a syndrome not a disease, but for the life of me I can't wrap my mind around it.. I have attempted different online groups with other people diagnoised the same.... "Gentle Hugs"...
Avatar m tn I take the lowest dose of hydrocodone for pain. My physician tells me I have to be seen by her every three months in order to get my prescription refilled. That is 4 times a year and my insurance only allows for 4 co-pays a year. That means if I get sick and have to be seen by the doctor I have to pay full price, because I have used up all my co-pay visits just to get my prescription refilled. Is this right?
Avatar m tn I have bone spurs and disc problems in my neck I have been on hydrocodone for 5 years and they do not do what they started out doing I take 10/325 4 times daily the doctor put me on morphine 15mg 3 times daily but they make me very sleepy so he put me back on hydrocodone is their anything that does not make you sleepy stronger than the hydrocodone.
Avatar m tn I just started 2 mg. off label for this use. I also relapsed on hydrocodone recently so I'm hoping it will both satiate the desire for opioids as well as help with depression. I seem to fluctuate between feelings of mild euphoria and relief to sedation and irritability. I have not had a bowel movement since I started it which is concerning. I'm also on a zoloft/wellbutrin cocktail.
Avatar n tn It is a suppressant cough med and is hard to get because it has hydrocodone in it. People the drug addicts abuse it, many used to shoot it up. But for the ones that need it, it is a safe reliable cough med and i recommend it. Before you ask for it be sure you are coughing alot with chest congestion.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know how bad withdrawal symptoms will be for someone that has been abusing Hydrocodone 5/500's for just under two weeks? The number of pills has slowly increased from about 10 a day to approx 20. He has taken 20 for the last 3-4 days. Since the duration of abuse was short the wd's shouldn't be that bad, should they? I have been in a much worse situation having used much longer and he saw what I went through and is scared to death.
Avatar m tn yes i am on day three of detoxing from hydrocodone and am currently taking tramadol bout 150 mg a day and it seems to be helping im not really as sick and am pretty mobile i have also used prayer but was wondering if im going to be in the same boat when the tramadol runs out
Avatar n tn Ive used hydrocodone twice, and Im already addicted to it, is it normal to get addicted that fast?
2030686 tn?1351688548 I have been taking hydrocodone for multiple issues for almost 10 years. It doesn't seem to be helping much anymore and I need suggestions on something new to try. I don't want to go to percoset, because it works post surgery where morphine does not. Tramadol causes me to have seizures (they think) so it's off the table, and they gave me demerol for dental pain once but it did nothing. So I'm wondering if anybody has any suggestions on something new to try.
Avatar m tn I get urine drug tested every month when i go to get my prescriptions from a pain management clinic. I have tested positive for either Hydrocodone or Oxycontin the last 6 times I tested. I havent taken Hydrocodone in 5 years and Ive never taken Oxycontin. The dr doesnt believe me and Im probably gonna be released because of it. I cant make him believe me. Can anyone tell me if any of the following drugs can give a false positive for Hydrocodone or Oxycontin.
Avatar f tn I started going to a clinic 7 days ago to seek help for Hydrocodone withdrawals. I had been on Hydrocodone for about 4 years and my new Dr felt Methadone would help. Day one they gave me 30mg. I could not function and I was very sick, vomiting, etc. I told them that was too high that I wanted no more than 10-15 mg per day. I was a little shocked at their encouraging people to take high doses and increase 5 mg per day.
1233941 tn?1267735211 Why do people keep saying Sub shouldn't be used for hydrocodone? It's an opiate just like any other. Is 100mg of Oxy OK for Sub? And, 200mg of Hydrocodone not? Please, quit qualifying Sub by what opiate they used. It's scaring people off who may be good candidates for Sub treatment. Past addiction history as well as the person's health and opiate DOSAGE (NOT Opiate of choice) should determine whether Suboxone should be a choice.
Avatar m tn I used for THIRTEEN YEARS and quit..going to na/aa meetings was THE key ... i was ready to try anything so i started going to meetings and it "rubed" off on me.....remember, we are products of our enviroment....if you hang out with the people that encourage you and love you and DON'T do drugs....well, you'll become like them.....in other words...you are what you eat. :) ...go, even if you are still using.....eventually, you will get it....IF....
Avatar f tn I thought so but they dont. There is a 4, 7 & 12 panel but they dont test for vicodin (hydrocodone) they test for oxycodone and opiates that are metabolized into morphine in the body, such as oxycontin, dilaudid, heroin and of course morphine. According to the pharmacist hydrocodone isnt considered dangerous enough to be tested for. I asked her 'do they live in a bubble or something??
Avatar n tn It is scary but I have read a lot of posts on here where people have went thru worse. I am familiar with recovery as I used to be a Resident Advisor at a half-way house for recovery. Go figure.... You would think I would know better but the hydro's have kicked me in the butt and I am wanting to take more and I fear such a change. Can anyone comment on the withdrawl or with using the Thomas receipe?
Avatar n tn I've been in severe pain for 15 years, and it keeps getting worse. My doctor put me on Hydrocodone 10/660 about 10 years ago, and it has worked wonders and kept my pain level down to a 2 (scale 1-10). Now, I'm told she can't prescribe it for me anymore, and has cut me back to 10-335. I feel like I've gone backwards in time. I'm back to soaking me feet in ice water, and coating my feet with Capazation, just for a little bit of temporary relief.
1405919 tn?1281175167 I keep reading- "hydrocodone may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide." Anyone feel like giving a few examples of these "other purposes?" Very curious. Doctors??? Patients??? Anyone have any beans to spill on this subject? Thanks a bunch!
