Common Questions and Answers about Hydrocodone in dogs

vicodin

Avatar f tn Tramadol is a nightmare that you should avoid at all costs! It's a drug that is commonly prescribed to old dogs and I witnessed a neighbor get hooked on his dogs medication. His dog died in excruciating pain while he was high on the dogs Tramadols. It's a horribly addictive drug and getting off of it is worse than Vicodin or Oxys. Please, leave it alone.
Avatar f tn Back from the Vet's. Molly's breathing problem, cough, whatever, is NOT due to the congestive heart problem. Vet said fluid from around her heart and lungs had subsided thanks to the Enalapril. It's her larynx...or what's left of it. We knew it was a problem, but it's severe now...no consolation that it is common in small breed dogs, especially those with "smashed" noses.
Avatar f tn I never like the idea of Rimadyl for dogs. Carprofen (the active ingredient in Rimadyl), even though deemed safe for dogs, still can cause too many adverse reactions and side effects for my liking. But isn't it a cryin' shame that vets have to be careful what they prescribe for pets because the owners will take it?!?! Sometimes I wonder how the human race has come as far as it has with so many idiots here to carry it on. Sorry for the rant. Some things just tick me off.
Avatar m tn We recently pulled three dogs from animal control, and within 24 hrs all of them had kennel cough. The puppy has been sick with kennel cough for over a month. We've had her on clovomox, and then we had her on cefadroxil. We've had her chest x-rayed and she doesn't have pnemonia or anything more serious. The vet also had her do a round of panacur in case it was a lung fluke. We had her on hydrocodone, and that didn't even curb her cough.
Avatar f tn Great Pyreness that would freak out during thunder storms, which in Florida in the summer is always. He would get in the bed at night and gouge at my head with his giant paws for as long as the storm went on. So the Vet gave me Valium for him. But they had no effect on him and I was afraid to give him to many. So , since they didn't work on him........well, they worked on me just fine. One of the dogs I have now was traumatized by Huricane Charlie. Again , dog with storm issues.
Avatar f tn I feel like a cheerleader here, lol but I just like to hear about people getting off this poison, it is so bad for us. Not just the hydrocodone, but the tylenol in high doses is so bad for the body, Thanks for listening, Dr. Michele LOL not really.
Avatar m tn Welcome to the site! What does your doctor say? Does he want you to taper more? Great that you're in good shape. My guess is if you're at 15mg now, going through withdrawal now is very doable for you. But your doctor knows you WAY better than anyone on this site! He has your charts. If you stop now you might have one or two days of flu-like symptoms, but you'll rapidly get it together after that. I don't think energy will be too much of a problem if yr in good shape.
Avatar m tn MY DOG WEEZES, CHOCKS AND CANT BREATH. WHEN THIS HAPPENS IT CAN GO ON FOR HOURS ON END OR A FEW MINUTES. WHEN IT HAPPENS IT'S TERRIBLE TO WATCH. I FILL THAT MY DOG MAY BE SUFFERING. IF SHE EXCERTS HER SELF THIS CAN HAPPEN, BUT MOSTLY AT NIGHT AND IT CAN GO ON ALL NIGHT SO BAD YOU WANT TO TAKE HER TO A HOSPITAL. SHE HAS BEEN ON AMOXI 500MG 2-TIMES A DAY WITH VERY LITTLE HELP. SHE'S BEEN ON HYDROCODONE 5MG WITH VERY LITTLE HELP.
Avatar n tn no, hydrocodone is vicodin. Morphine sulfate is the active ingredient in morphine. If you are worried about a possible reaction to the medication, I would speak to your local pharmacists. I'm not sure if hydrocodone and morphine are in the same family of drugs. I know vicodin and percocet are in a similar family (due to codine), but morphine is much different. refer to this website. http://www.rxlist.com/duramorph-drug.
Avatar m tn Can i continue this for a week, then cut it down to a half in am and half in pm, then quit completely and use Darvon if needed to detox from the methadone?
Avatar f tn Dont let your dogs be too close to the baby and dont leave your dogs alone with your baby. Get your dogs in a good consistent routine of feeding, exercising, and down time. That will help them adjust to when your baby is here and you wont have all time to focus on them.
983679 tn?1276833336 Hydrocodone was first manufactured in the early 1920s by the German pharmaceutical company Knoll. As its name denotes, hydrocodone is the codeine molecule with a hydrogen atom attached. At the time, Knoll believed hydrogenizing codeine might make it less toxic and easier on the stomach. At about the same time, the U.S.
Avatar f tn Welcome to the Dogs Community! :-) The cheesy white drainage makes me think it's follicular cysts. Basically, the hair follicles get clogged and the tiny sebaceous glands underneath can't drain properly which results in a pimple or cyst. Think of it along the lines of humans with certain kinds of acne. Like humans, some dogs just produce more oil in their skin, and there's not much to be done for it.
Avatar f tn I was reading on the net that dogs do not have epilepsy, it is strictly a human condition. I want to believe my vet but.... Will you please explain to me what causes seizures in dogs and what I can di to prevent it?
Avatar m tn Can this be from the medication or is she in pain? The vet thinks she may have brain tumor, and I want to make sure she is not in pain.
