Hydrocodone dosage dogs

Common Questions and Answers about Hydrocodone dosage dogs

Avatar n tn I am 20yo and have been taking hydrocodone for a year and a half. I recently came to the realization that I am in fact addicted. I have tried to stop many times (each time gets harder) but I haven't been able to quit all together. I was taking 6-8 10/500 a day. The last few months I have gotten down to 1-2 pills a day. Then I had a stressful couple of months and went up to 2-4. Now, my life is starting to get back in order, and I finally told my boyfriend...
Avatar n tn The clonidine was prescribed to me for anxiety, but I did not need them as I was taking the hydrocodone, so I have alot of them. I just don't know what the recommended dosage is. I'm having a hard time cutting down, and am constantly craving. I am trying to work on a daily basis to keep my mind elsewhere, but have a hard time concentrating. It has gotten a bit easier at times so I know it is possible. Keep posting it's good to vent and identify.
Avatar n tn I haven't started reducing my dosage yet, but I think come refill time around July 4th, he'll probably have me take a 10 mg in the morning, a 5 mg in the afternoon and another 10 mg in the evening for starters, then "titrate" things further down, slowly but surely.. It really is a lot more stable using Valium over Xanax, I never have even an inkling of pre-seizure feelings anymore.
3119293 tn?1342054132 I was prescribed Hydrocodone/APAP (10/500) in December 2011. Never took more than the prescribed amount (3x Daily). I am now in day 5 since I quit cold turkey. The first 2 days were rotten. My whole body felt achy. Mostly in my lower back. I couldn't fall asleep. I finally fell asleep on the evening of day 2 and slept a good solid 9 hours. (Something I haven't done in quite a while.) When I woke up on day 3 I felt as if I had energy to burn.
Avatar n tn About every two months she goes through these coughing/hacking spells. Is this normal for dogs with CHF? We have tried EVERYTHING to help, but NOTHING works. I just want to know if she is suffering or in pain! The vet I'm going to just doesn't seem to know what she is doing. Of course nether do I so I really shouldn't be talking. I really want to take her to a different vet for a 2nd opinion but worried about the cost.
Avatar n tn I've been taking hydrocodone for the past five years, and at maximum prescribed levels (1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours - - which, naturally, means 2 every 4 hours) for the past two. How do I get off this stuff? Cold turkey? Phased withdrawal?
Avatar n tn Just tonight I was reading the posts and comments about dogs with Congestive heart failure and then we took our female Bassett (a rescue) to her vet for a 2 week followup. She had been diagnosed with CHF, just 13 days ago, she was put on arthritis meds, heart meds, water pill, and an antibiotic. With a "possible diagnosis" of CHF. Come on people, putting your dog out of their pain and misery, is the best thing you can do for them. I, was trying to be selfish, thinking of only myself.
Avatar m tn Don't give her Hydrocodone either! Can you get to the nearest town, and to a vet there? Benadryl is safe for dogs The dosage is 1mg per 1pound body weight. But I seriously doubt it will have any effect on severe pain like this. She either has a very bad sprain...or she has a dislocation?....or it could be arthritis pain? Or she could have a spinal problem. I would keep her as still as possible until you can manage to reach a vet. I hope she'll be OK.
Avatar f tn My question is this, is it possible to subsidize her medication with half of a Hydrocodone-APAP 5/500 every other day?? She weights 47lbs. If not do you know of a reasonably inexpensive pain medication that I could give her?? Thank you.
Avatar f tn How long have you been using hydrocodone? What level are you tapering from and how quickly are you tapering? Withdrawal intensity is a function of length of use, and dosage.
Avatar f tn Ok, I've been taking hydrocodone for quite I few years now. It started out taking 5's as prescribed and went downhill from there. As of just over 24 hrs ago, I took my last vicodin i'm fine chasing it. its not even helping my pain anymore. My normal day dosage ended up being up to 120Mg a day of norco. It wasn't phasing me, even at that massive dosage. My question is, how long will the actually physical symptoms of withdrawal last?
Avatar n tn Treated with an anticholinergic, Imiterex, amytriptiline, lactobacillus, Metamucil and Miralax, and hydrocodone. Usually able to sleep through the night, but has been awakened numerous times by pain. Pain builds in waves and she feels overheated to the point that she will not allow you to touch or even approach her too closely because she can "feel" heat from you body.
Avatar f tn Im a 26 year old mother of two gorgeous children and a great supportive husband. I am a pill addict....mainly xanax, tramadol and hydrocodone. I started taking hydrocodone in 2005 and taking xanax in 2010. My dosage was half a milligram twice a day of xanax and 10 mgs of hydro every six to eight hours. The xanax is my huge problem....Im now up to six to ten mgs a day. no, im not lying. ive hasd blackouts, losing entire days at a time, conversations you name it.
Avatar f tn This includes drugs such as tramadol (Ultracet and Ultram) codeine (Tylenol #3, #4), Darvocet, Hydrocodone (Vicodin, Norco, Lortab and derivatives), Oxycodone (Endocet, Percocet, Oxycontin), Morphine, Demerol. Fentanyl, and Dilaudud. There are many other opiates not listed, so if you don’t see it listed, you can still use these suggestions if it’s an opiate based addiction. None of these apply to benzodiazepine based addictions. These addictions should never be dealt with by going cold turkey.
Avatar n tn I wanted to know how I could stop taking Tussionex suspension, a potent cough medicine which contains hydrocodone polistirex. I've been taking this medicine for three years now, nearly everyday, and I wanted to know if you or any of the other doctors could help me with this. I've come back to this site often since I posted that question, and nobody seemed interested in what I had to say, since there weren't any answers to my question for maybe two to three days now.
Avatar m tn Hi F1, I have been and am exactly where you are. I've tried everything but oxycodone in any form and my physician hates the drug. I think the usage of methadone for chronic pain depends in part on the area that you reside. It was the first "Bid Dog" that my physician suggested. I did reluctantly try it. It did nothing for my pain. Maybe the dosage was not high enough but I found the side effects unbearable.
221122 tn?1323014865 I too could not lose weight, although I did not eat much. Although I too was sensitive to medicines, I have taken Hydrocodone for pain for many years. It was the only thing that helped. I have just started taking a new medication, Savella, and I am hoping and praying it will work for me. Sorry I've spoke so much about myself, but I want you to know that there are folks out here like you. I hope your doctor is understanding and believes that fibro/chronic fatigue is real.
Avatar f tn I do suffer from Chronic Pain due to my back but I do not ONLY take them for my pain.(sighs) My recommended dosage from my Dr is only to be 3- 5/500's daily. I am now at about 8-10 a day. Where did I go wrong, and what happened? I don't know how I got here and now I am so scared I am going to develop severe liver damage amongst other things, and that alone should be enough to make me stop taking them, one would think!
Avatar f tn , and he wouldn't be in the bathroom, fixing the dogs medicine...he would just do that out in the open, like in the kitchen, I would think. The thing about addiction, is people are going to hide it. Your Dad knows how to get off heroin...with methadone. But some people that do methadone also do heroin. If your Dad needed help with his addiction, I would think he would ask you. People don't usually go to their children, for this kind of help.
Avatar n tn Hey, I used lortab, same as hydrocodone while on tx. Now that I am done since Nov 6th, I still have to take them off and on. Hope you feel better, sometimes your doctor will send you to a pain specialist.
Avatar n tn (I have an indwelling interthecal pump that administers the drug and the dosage is very small.) I disagree and think it's due to my hepatitis-c, Any ideas out there? With my hep-c configuration would it be a bad idea to wait 6-12 months to try to get a better handle on my depression before starting treatment as the VA recommends? Coincidently, I don't drink and haven't for ... oh gee, maybe three years. Aside from that should I be taking milk thistle?
Avatar m tn I see a few parallels between your situation and what mine was until last summer, and read through most of your posts and your journal. I'm about seven months clean from a 500-600 mg per day hydrocodone habit. I snorted oxymorphone a few times, it is strong stuff. I also see that it has a fairly long half life. This means WD from is is bound to be harder as it stays in the system longer. I applaud you for everything you're doing - quitting opiates is the hardest thing I've ever had to do.
Avatar n tn Reading the postings has given me hope and helped me to face my own situation. Like many of you, I got hooked on Hydrocodone by way of a cronic pain condition. I realized something after my first posting, as I was driving around today. I had kidded myself, thinking I was weening my self off of these damn things. But instead of taking 5 I'd take 4. Then maybe 3 more an hour later to make up for it.
Avatar f tn Last month my primary ordered a CT and discovered that my lower back is in a bad state as well. I have been getting hydrocodone 7.5/500 for my shoulder from the ortho that repaired it. My primary has prescribed hydrocodone 10/500 for my back. These scripts have crossed over three times. My tolerance levels have built up so high that the prescribed doses are no longer effective. When I called Walmart yesterday to ask for my 10's refill, the attendant told me that my refill was not due until Oct.
Avatar n tn I find its messing with my mind, even thought i know they are tightly controled on dosage,i find if i SEE the patch isnt plump,i stress that it wont work. It does, i have no pain but i still stress. SO bad i have my husband put on my back so i can see. lol, i know, but i cant help it. Have you noticed this?, its seems more so with the 100 then other does but i have also noted it with 75s before i increased thanks am?
Avatar n tn I'm not familiar with oxycontin but I can tell you about my experience with Hydrocodone 10/325--12-14 per day for several years! It seems you have the right ingredients to begin your detox--I had used xanax in the past and I found that it did help--but none the less you feel like someone ran over you with a truck! If you have read the thomas recipe I hope you have the 5-7 days needed to get the demons out of your system!
Avatar n tn most medical conditions by chiropractic adjustments. You should trust your physician to realize the severity of your pain and prescribe the correct dosage. As Mollyrae said follow the package insert. I applied mine after supper so that when I woke I would have most of the effects of the medication. It takes awhile for your body to adjust to it. I had a allergic reaction to the medication and had to remove the patch. Other's claim, such as Molly that these patches are God-sent.
Avatar f tn I too woke up one day and realized I was taking 100-130mg of hydrocodone as well....I am a working professional and am married with children. I was able to maintain my habit right under the nose of my wife, friends, and co-workers. I am now 15.5 days sober and have a lot of experience with withdrawal....I have literally gone through withdrawal and relapsed hundreds of times..... Ok....once you get the suppliments and vitamins you will need to talk to your Dr. or Dr.
Avatar m tn to look for a real paying job w/Health Ins and bennys, cleaning my own house VS having someone else do it, taking my pooch to the park and/or for walks, bathing my dog VS having the groomer do it, brushing my dog daily, washing my dogs eyes every morning to get the sleep out, etc).
Avatar n tn here ya go, VicoBabe ... Tylenol is not water soluble (doesn't disolve in water). Hydrocodone (and oxy and codeine) are water soluble. The technique is not totally efficient and won't remove all tylenol or yield all the narcotic. (probably 75-85% of each) Take an 8-10oz glass of luke warm water, preferably bottled good stuff. Thoroughly disolve the pills in the water and stir thoroughly for a few minutes until you have a pretty consistent milky solution.
