5496522 tn?1368819256 Hi Everyone, I'm new to this forum (actually, any forum), and I was hoping to get some input from anyone who has suffered from complications post decompression surgery. It all began 2 years ago, when I hit a tree skiing. I suffered a severe concussion, but bounced back pretty quickly from the accident. A few months later, I began having neurological issues that were pretty serious, and after going from one doctor to another, I was diagnosed with Chiari.
Avatar f tn I continue to try to get back into sinus rhythm, but I can have a reasonable/active quality of life and have AFib, and that may be where I end up given my last poor experience with an electrocardioversion.
2137079 tn?1335983532 I have to say I can sympathize with you as I am experiencing less than great quality of life after only one round of triple tx that was unsuccessful. I'm contemplating doing battle again but not with interferon. The fact that you completed three rounds in five years is a testament to your strength and determination. Sometimes I feel really P.O.'d about everything I have put my mind and body through only to be told I may be suffering from depression?!
768044 tn?1294223436 I had difficulty answering this, as my migraines are getting progressively worse. However, I chose "Not able to work...." as that's the best my migraines get. I then get worse from there.
Avatar n tn This is ruining every aspect of my life. The main reason is because of how isolating and all consuming dealing with something of this caliber is. The problem is that, for myself personally, pain is a trigger for the depressive nature of my mind. I've read books on happiness and they generally say that people, despite great accident, will return to the mindset they experienced before the event.
Avatar m tn I am made to over-rely on my girlfriend and she and her family resent me. My quality of life is hovering near zero. I have been through therapy both pre-surgery and post-, and found it lacking value. I consider myself very thoughtful and the issues that are present don't seem to have any answers. Can a professional with experience dealing with patients in debilitating chronic pain offer advice? Please note that I do not have family, friends, or money.

Avatar m tn I hate to wake up in the morning because I am constantly in pain and uncomfortable and I hate going to work because of the burping and how I feel. I am out of breath all of the time. The other day I also had a very intense chest pain that was a constricting feeling. I get heart burn all the time, but never that intense and this felt different. I tried a 2 week eliminate all fats diet, I tried 2 weeks with no dairy, 2 weeks with no sugar. I take vitamins and probiotics.
Avatar m tn Ohio State does a 5 box mini maze and you can get info on this if you google the term on this message board or on the internet. Quality of life does suffer and as one ages, afib tends to get worse. The vitamin D question is interesting. I have actually increased my Vitamin D to 1000 mg. per day, increased my potassium, decreased my Atenolol and I am feeling much better with fewer irregular beats. My advice is to get all the info you can. Email Dr.
Avatar n tn With everything that your saying about heartburn and heart racing, I would suspect the vagus nerve is involved somehow. It might be that the indigestion problems might be triggering the heart problems. Have you talked to your doctor about the other symptoms? I have silent acid reflux and have that same feeling of something stuck in my throat. With that said, I've also had a feeling of "emptiness" in the throat when I have arrythmias.

I am so happy u found us and r willing to share ur experiences with us, and I am so sorry that u r yet one more affected by this condition. Avatar m tn 17 yrs of living with and trying to be a productive person in society, after aortic valve replacement, my quality of life is such that I can no longer consider myself employable. With attendance issues being the foremost reason for this conclusion, Is it too far out of the question for me to be eligible for disability. I have applied in the past, and have always been denied.
Avatar n tn Im 34 and in great shape, lift 4-5 days per week, low blood pressure 120/80 / 110/70 with a total cholesterol of 175. I've been on nexium for 2 years from messing up my stomach from vicodin and coffee. The last year I've been experiencing constant belching and bloating in my stomach after certain foods but staring to belch a lot after all meals. I'm now experiencing my heart skipping beats during my belching bouts, and when I go out and drink alcohol.

419309 tn?1326503291 ve known him, my husband has always found life, in and of itself, an extraordinary quality, finding worth and joy in just about any circumstances, and as a result, he oftentimes takes on and endures much more than he needs to -- perhaps both a blessing and curse common to combat veterans. There's a part of me that never wants him to give up the fight, and then there's a part of me that's afraid he won't stop fighting even when cease-fire is called.
Avatar n tn is it true that pain relief will add to the quality of rest and life style (as opposed to "toughing it out" by resisting medication that relieves pain because of belief that sustains in Tylenol and Advil cause too much bodily harm)? My daughter is experiening extreme pain and fatigue. Dr. has given her Cymbalta which has helped but she will only take Tylenol at night and ususally awakens in the early morning hours in pain and unable to sleep.
Avatar f tn She is taking small doses of chemo and her Dr states its for her to have some quality of life and get her affairs in order. He states with the chemo 6 months to a year. Is this the truth and the facts?
Avatar m tn For me, I have made mistakes with my dogs over the years, and one in particular I kept alive for too long - bless her, she was almost 20yrs old, completely blind, completely deaf, and had bad arthritis too ... her quality of life was very poor, but it still took me a year to decide to put her out of what misery she was in. I feel it was entirely selfish on my part, but it was such a hard thing to do.
Avatar m tn They recomend radiation therapy. Will this help to improve her quality of life and perhaps extend her life, and I would like to know realistically what her life expectancy is with this diagnosis. This discussion is related to esophageal cancer life expectancy.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with hypothyroid 19 years ago by my OB doc after the birth of my son and followed up with Endo and been on levoxyl ever since. No issues or symptoms after starting RX. Then 7 years ago, I started having horrible muscle spasm (mostly shoulders and back, but eventually head to toe body pain). Muscle spasm lasted 2-4 weeks and then I would be symptom free for months, until they started up again.
