Common Questions and Answers about Heartburn and inner ear

heartburn

Avatar f tn Motion sickness nausea is caused by disturbance in the inner ear. Any repeated motion or movement of the inner ear can cause this such as riding in a vehicle, a boat or amusement park ride. https://www.medicinenet.com/motion_sickness_sea_sickness_car_sickness/article.htm Acid reflux occurs when the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), a ring of muscle that separates your esophagus and your stomach, is unable to close tightly after you’ve ingested food or fluids.
Avatar n tn I am a healthy, single, 37 year old female. Over the last several months I have been experiencing dizziness that quickly follows with numbness in arms in legs. It's more like I can't lift my arms and/or legs. If I move my head a certain way, I can often feel like I'm falling over. I can have disassociative vision at times, meaning seeing what I think I'm doing and feeling my hands doing it are 2 different things (comes along during my numbness).
Avatar n tn I have read that if the phenol anesthetic that is used for myringotomy should enter the middle ear it can get into the inner ear and do severe damage to the cochlea and hairs. Please let me know how you are doing. It's been over three weeks for me.
471949 tn?1236904026 When individuals experience problems with their ears, specifically their inner ears, they often have dizziness and ear ringing. The reason for the dizziness is the inner ear houses a balance organ called the vestibular labyrinth. In many cases these problems are the result of an inner ear infection or some other treatable condition. Once the infection is treated and healed, the dizziness and ear ringing should gradually disappear.
Avatar f tn I was actually in the ER due to pains and they concluded that I have GERD...I never had heartburn before and it just came on all of a sudden and does not go away.....My primary care physician prescribed me prevacid (she said it tunrs off the acid).......my question is....what or how are u supposed to feel while on precription meds for GERD....I mean it works a little but all day long I still feel like fluttering movements from my stomach up to my chest and my upper back...
Avatar m tn You need to see your doctor to check your ears to make sure that you do not have an inner ear infection. The balance mechanism is in the inner ear. There are other reasons for having lack of balance. From neck problems, high blood pressure and others. But it is best to get your ears checked out first and your blood pressure. For your depth perception I would suggest you see the ophthalmologist to get your eyes and vision tested as you may now need prescription glasses. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn Thank you very much so far for your advice on my inner ear condition (popping and vibration) I really feel I am being heard and will definitely ask for an ENT referral.
648987 tn?1231201877 I was wondering...do your sinus and ear infections (and mouth ulcers) happen on the same side? If so, are they pretty painful and antibiotics don't seem to help? If this is the case, you may have a subtle case of shingles, or a recurrent fungal infection. I know, weirdness, but Dr.s don't always look for these things...Also, hypo can mess up your body chemistry, causing it to be more susceptible to infection...
686172 tn?1256839717Inner ear • Brain stem and cerebellum • Nerve tracts connecting the brain stem and cerebellum or within the brain stem Inner Ear Disorders: Most commonly, vertigo results from motion sickness. Motion sickness may develop in people whose inner ear is sensitive to particular motions, such as swaying or sudden stopping and starting. Another common cause of vertigo is an abnormal collection of calcium particles in one semicircular canal of the inner ear.

643681 tn?1223407715 The likely cause is chronic nasal congestion that ultimately in many patients will block the eustachean tube connecting the nose to the middle ear. This tube keeps the pressure in the middle and inner ear normal. The inner ear is also responsible for balance. Thus, if the inner ear is disturbed, such as an infection, which is usually viral, an affected patient will often complain of lightheadedness or dizziness.
Avatar n tn i have a pain on the top right of my head and my right ear that makes my ear pop,it goes away for 2 or 3 days then it comes back again and lastes 2 or 3 days
Avatar n tn I do not want to cause further worries.Sinus and ear infections may affect the inner ear. Other causes however, may be more benign .Such is the case for benign positional vertigo wherein particular head positions may aggravate the condition. I suggest you seek consult with an ENT specialist for a complete assessment of your condition. Do you have any problems with your vision?
907968 tn?1292622204 (ear fullness from birth defect which, in a meter of speaking, creates a hole on the skull between the inner ear and brain, which is why pressure in the inner ear is important to me).
1704618 tn?1307528771 Sometimes, I have problems with my eyes related to my inner ear problem. Your eyes and inner ears work together to coordinate your balance. I was diagnosed with Labyrinthitis in 2009 and still have problems from time to time. Yes, it is terrible. Mine started abruptly. I have learned to live with my problem. I doubt this is a cardio problem since you are responding to the Serc. I would simply follow up with an ENT Specialist or the Neurologist. Best of luck.
Avatar n tn I have been suffering the same thing. Ive had mri's done on my brain, inner ears and been to the ent. When i drive wearing ear plugs helps. The doctors are starting to look at me like im crazy or faking cause they cant find anything wrong. Its driving me nuts.
Avatar f tn Oh, and let me add one other thing -- if you've been given antibiotics for the inner ear problem, they can also be the source of your anxiety problem. Taking probiotics can be helpful here.
Avatar f tn The ear plugs help you tune out the world around you. This may bring you a sense of comfort. I hope I helped in some way.
Avatar f tn You had better see your doctor and ask them to do a screening hearing test in their office to see if your hearing loss is due to a Eustachian-tube problem (which can be a result of the cold) or possibly a sensorineural (inner-ear) hearing loss. A virus can attack the inner ear and cause permanent hearing loss. This is best treated immediately. Your PCP should be able to do a kind of rough hearing test with a tuning fork in their office.
Avatar m tn In the outer ears cerumen impaction or external otitis, in the middle ear fluid collection or disease of the tympanic membrane and in the inner ear damage to the nerve endings can cause tinnitus. As a result of these disorders the external sounds are masked leading to awareness of normal body sounds. You will need to consult your primary care physician for further evaluation, who may then refer you to an ENT specialist.
Avatar f tn The heartburn went away for a few weeks, but then came back with a vengeance and wreaked havoc on my life for the next couple of months. It caused sore throat, and heartburn mainly, and also developed fluid in the inner ear which caused chronic pain and popping. It improved, but I still get episodes of heartburn/gerd every now and then, just not as bad as it was over the summer.
Avatar f tn most likely inner ear that controls balance and can make you very dizzy ... which can cause headaches... i would get it checked just in case ... better safe then srry dont wait to long cause if it is something serious they could catch it in time... if you experiance nosebleeds during these "spells" go to the er asap... could be nothing at all dont stress too bad makes it worse ...
Avatar n tn I really can not answer that question, I would sure see a doctor as soon as possible to rule out anything serious such as a TIA. It could be an inner ear infection, anxiety, flu, anything, so, please get it checked, it is better to be safe than sorry.
Avatar m tn For the past 4 months my head has been feeling really strange constantly. When i move around i sort of feel kind of dizzy, unbalanced and that there is pressure in my head. I feel like my brain isn't working right and this is so annoying that it is making me worried cause it won't go away. When i look at thing my head feels weird, it's like i'm drunk or stoned and my eye's seem more sensitive. I can't focus on things anymore.
Avatar m tn The only test that came back as potentially negative was an inner ear test related to the level of fluid in my right inner ear. We tried medications for a couple months which had no impact on me, so the inner ear doctor suggested vestibular therapy (which wouldn't explain the starbursts and halo vision). When my vision is the worst, I will feel somewhat dizzy or lightheaded (the room does not spin and it's not vertigo).
Avatar m tn Your symptoms of loss of hearing and tinnitus could occur with problems in the inner ear. It could also be due to a middle ear infection. Only a complete evaluation can help diagnose the cause. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
