Foot pain neuroma

Common Questions and Answers about Foot pain neuroma

foot

Avatar m tn sounds like you have Neuroma A neuroma is a thickening of nerve tissue that may develop in various parts of the body. The most common neuroma in the foot is a Morton’s neuroma, which occurs between the third and fourth toes. It is sometimes referred to as an intermetatarsal neuroma. “Intermetatarsal” describes its location in the ball of the foot between the metatarsal bones. Neuromas may also occur in other locations in the foot. You probably should get a Cortisone shot and maybe Orthotics.
Avatar n tn Any medication on this neuroma would be futile except that it may relieve symptoms of pain. As you already know that you can opt for either podiatric physician (deals with foot and leg related problem exclusively) or you can get it surgically removed. It is advisable to wear shoes with a bit large size for toes to be able to move, shoes should have shock absorber soles. Special padding in shoes can be used to relieve pain.
Avatar f tn I hope someone can help me! I had a bunionectomy and osteotomy 9/06 on left foot. Continued to have pain until 12/07 and had surgery to remove the hardware from bunion surgery and had a morton's neuroma removed between 3rd and 4th toes. Still have constant pain along the outside and on top of that foot about 1 inch from base of little toe. I am getting so discouraged so please help if you can. Thanks alot in advance.
Avatar f tn Is it in the actual toe or at the base of the toe near the foot? If it is at the base of the toe near the foot it could be Morton's neuroma, which can be removed surgically by a podiatrist.
Avatar f tn Since 1997 I have had a stabbing burning pain in my left big toe joint closest to the foot. I have seen several podiatrists plus nerve specialists and now a pain medicine Doctor is helping a little. One response from a reader said maybe it was Mortons neuroma. Is there anyone who can confirm this so I can take it to my Doctor?
Avatar n tn Can you get mortons neuroma twise in the same foot? the pain is on the top this time and not under the foot.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you have a Morton's neuroma. The area of pain is typical. See a board certified podiatrist.
4522848 tn?1359039335 I cant find any info on the Internet for a neuroma on the sciatic nerve in the leg/knee like i have. It seems they are typically in the foot and head. It isnt causing much pain yet but I'm considering surgery and wondering what the recovery is like and how likely id have nerve damage or pain after. If anyone has had a similar surgery, please share your story!
Avatar f tn Can a Neuroma in your foot cause your whole foot to go numb?
4522848 tn?1359039335 Has anyone had surgery to remove a neuroma? I cannot find much info on the Internet for a neuroma in the leg/knee. It seems they are only typically found in the foot and head. It's not causing me much pain yet but I'm considering surgery and worry about the recovery and any nerve damage that could occur. Please share your story if there's anyone out there!
Avatar f tn One odd thing is that somedays the toes do not hurt at all or they will shift from toes on the left foot to the right foot, though the right foot is the most affected foothe pain starts in the toe and seems to run into my foot. (Nerve?) I am at my wits end. I love racewalking and I was walking 5 to 6 miles a day and racing a 5K on Saturdays. I am unable to walk that far on most days now. The pain is just too excruciating.
Avatar m tn ve had unsuccessful foot surgery Dec 2011 - both feet. Had bunion and neuroma surgery and now can hardly work. Bunions are ok but bottoms of feet really bad. Don't want to make mistake of going to same doctor. Have you found anyone to fix your feet?
Avatar f tn I had surgery for tarsal tunnel (it is like carpal tunnel only in the foot). That helped the horrible burning pain on the inside of my foot but did nothing for the outside or the Achilles pain. Two years multiple doctors, tests, nerve blocks, and physical therapy did nothing. It was not until I saw a chiropractor that I started to get relief. You might want to see if you can find a good gentle chiropractor to treat your foot.
Avatar n tn In 2007 I cut my foot open in a hot tub and had stitches, I still have extreme pain and the doctors think it is nerve damage and want to do surgery. Has anyone every expierenced this before??? I am having a hard time with the fact that noone can tell me if the surgery will help or even what they will do, they say they won't know until they get in there. Help!...
Avatar m tn s Neuroma in my left foot. 3 months ago Hallux Rigidus in my right big toe and hallux limitus in my left big toe. Now, shortly after that doctor visit, the soles of both feet hurt all the time! It's more limiting for my life, than the other problems! I hate to walk at all. Shoes on, shoes off, tried sandals, tried gel soles, tried expensive sneakers etc-no change? They burn somewhat, feel like there are sores and or blisters on them, but nothing is there!

Avatar m tn Within the last two months, I have been experiencing burning and pain in my right foot (including toes). I am taking oxcarbazepine, is this a side affect or does it mean I need to increase the dose.
Avatar f tn The second doctor examined me and felt my foot trouble was neurological; shock at the bottom of the foot, toes witch when trying to bed them, and one leg is much bigger than the other. I went back to my PCP who examined me and felt the same thing. The both felt I was showing signs of MS. So, I went to a neurologist who sent me to a podiatrist to rule out planter's faciitis and Morton's neuroma. The podiatrist said I have a neuroma. He gave me a 6 day course of prednisone.
Avatar n tn It also felt like there was something bumpy under the foot. Pain continued to worsen until I could only walk a short distance. MRI showed nothing and the pod put me in a non-weightbearing splint for 4 weeks. The pain was gone and I slowly progressed to walking 1200 steps, riding the bike, and short periods on the eliptical. Then the pain came back and got progressively worse over a 30 day period.
Avatar n tn In January 2013, it apparently had blistered twice, as it subsequently released 2 layers of skin, which clung to the end of the toe nail (the nail deteriorated tremendously after the neuroma surgery). I had 5 pain-free days, then it began again. That is where I now am. The skin looks as if there is a circulation problem, but the capillary refill is great. Air temp has no affect. The skin gets deep purple-red, with deep reddish blotches, that seem to be more blistering in process.
Avatar n tn Hi. I had a bunionectomy almost 4 weeks ago. Generally, my recovery has been going well. I was on crutches for two weeks, and now I have an orthowedge healing shoe, which I am supposed to wear all of the time. Starting about 36 hours ago, I've been having a lot of pain in the area between my toes (not really my large toe, but the others, especially the second toe) and the ball of my foot.
Avatar m tn I have gotten MRI /Xrays/had EMG/had cortisone injection in Plantar fascia area a few weeks ago of/on my right foot and all test came back negative for any kind of Neuroma or Nerve Damage. I also had an MRI of my back as suggested by my podiatrist and read by an orthopedic surgeon for backs and he stated that my foot pain is not related to my back. I tried the Orthotics that my Dr. suggested, but they made my feet red/tender and my toes tingly/numb.
1637739 tn?1371688706 I was recently diagnosed with MS after years of going to my neuro and complaining of numbness and tingling on my left side that eventually turned out to be pain on the left side. My foot pain extends out into the toes and is quite severe. Walking on it is always more difficult when I first stand up. My doctor has me on Gabapentin for pain (and Copaxone shots) and it does a pretty good job for me. I am so sorry you are experiencing this but you are not alone.
Avatar m tn The toeless stockings shouldn't cause toe pain. I also have peripheral sensory neuropathy, including in my feet, and have had much better results with toeless compression hosiery than the kind that goes over your whole foot. Did your doctor give you a rx for a certain level of compression (usually measured in mmHg)?
Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you for your question. It sounds that your toes numbness symptoms could be due to injury to a nerve, pressure on spinal or peripheral nerves (neuropathy), vitamin deficiency, lack of blood supply due to cholesterol plaque from atherosclerosis in the extremities, viral infection and use of certain medications. In addition, atherosclerosis can also cause pain, numbness, and tingling while walking and they can also reduce blood supply and lead to numbness.
314554 tn?1337454119 (Female 46 yr) My podiatrist examined the Morton's Neuromas on both of my feet about year ago. He made my orthotics and I wear ShockDoctor orthotics in some of my other shoes. At one time, I had several knee and tibia "injuries" that were biomechanical in nature from overtraining on the stairmaster and the occasional use/misuse of sports performance & pain meds (no longer use).
