Common Questions and Answers about Running foot pain outside edge

foot

Avatar n tn I am having a pain on the bottom outside edge of my foot. It feels like a bruise but has been there for a while. I am a runner and assume this is a training injury. Any ideas?
1453990 tn?1329231426 So I would guess that your spasticity is causing spasms on the outside edge of your foot, and making your toes pull down. I definitely agree that's it's crazy how much pain such a small muscle can create.
556637 tn?1249785348 This only caused more issues. The outside of my foot began grinding/cracking when walking. Also, I have pain on the outside of my heel, between my calcaneus and the base of my 5th metatarsal. It's more towards the bottom of my foot, but right along that edge where my foot meets the floor. The pain does not go up into my ankle. When turn my foot in circles, I still get lots of popping & grinding. About a week after the grinding began, I finally went to the doctor.
97615 tn?1212678589 This is located below the ankle bone on the outside of the foot but closer to the bottom of the foot than to the ankle bone. I have seen a chiropractor for an adjustment that did not work. I have seen a podiatrist that said I have tendonitis and gave me a corticosteroid shot. It had no effect. I will not do that again. I can run on it and have no other pain. There is only this electric shock sensation while flexing. Please help!!
Avatar f tn She shot above my ankle and I felt the numbness go down my foot and wrap around under my foot right where the pain was. She determined it was a nicked nerve from the biopsy all that time ago. She said we might have to remove the nerve. what kind of doctor is the best for that procedure? Will I loose the use of my foot or feeling? I cant have this dr do the surgery because she is not on my plan. ( She was my 2nd opinion) My podiatrist has a couple of people.
Avatar m tn Back in late Feb/early March I had pain in my foot when running, which after some google searches I assumed was plantar fasciitis, though not 100% sure. Then around Easter I noticed a small pea sized lump a tad under my ankle bone, visible only when my ankle is bent a certain way but you can feel it always. This caused no pain, and I really dont know how long that was even there before I finally noticed.
Avatar f tn but nothing in the area of my pain, which is on the bottom where the heel meets the arch near the outside edge. I finally saw a ortho Dr that did a nerve test with a shot of a numbing substance. She shot above my ankle and I felt the numbness go down my foot and wrap around under my foot right where the pain was. She determined it was a nicked nerve from the biopsy all that time ago. She said we might have to remove the nerve. what kind of doctor is the best for that procedure?
Avatar m tn I can walk, and consciously try to push off with both calves, but the left one just does not work correctly. Most of the outside edge and bottom of my foot, and outside 3.5 toes are numb when I wake up, then get somehow worse, like my foot is being crushed, all day long. Standing/walking definitely make this worse - too much of that results in pretty bad (5-6) level pain in the center of the ball of my foot and, at its worse, my big toe.
Avatar n tn As I started training I have noticed a little foot pain on the bottom of foot which was just caused a little soreness however as I completed my longest run of 12 miles on Saturday and the next day I couldn't put pressure on my foot without it hurting nor could I manage to walk for a standard period of time. Today is Wednesday and I still feel a little discomfort in walking but not nearly as severe as Sundays pain.
Avatar m tn My PCP eventually gave me Percoset and some Aleve (which combined helped take the edge off - but still pain). I have been told that usually the sciatica heals and/or pain subsides in @4 weeks on its own. I was thinking of visiting a chiropracter, a physical therapist, and purchase some better walking/running shoes. Any final thoughts for me? Thanks again!
Avatar f tn I can walk and bear weight on this foot but if anything comes into contact with it - like my kids keep managing to step on that particular foot - it really, really hurts, it almost stings. The area that is affected is along the edge of my foot - so almost as if it's running down from my little toe, towards my ankle. When I feel this area, it feels very tender and I can feel a small bump under the skin.
Avatar n tn Avoid running on concrete and make sure your shoes fit and support your foot properly, if possible go to a store that specializes in running shoes. These will all help prevent further injury, but first you may need to take even more time off.
Avatar n tn However, in the last 3 months, I have developed a lump on the sole of my foot behind this little toe (the meaty portion on the outside edge) It feels swollen when I wake in the morning and stand on it and dissipates during the day. I had my husband touch it and he said there's a bit of a knot in there. It's tender when he pokes it and in the morning but other than that not really painful. More of an annoyance really and of course, I don't want it to get worse.
Avatar f tn My daughter, 14, has a knot on the outside of her ankle just above the knobby bone and on the top of her foot. She hurt these two areas at separate times while running. She is a softball player and runs track. We had both areas x-rayed and the x-rays did not show a fracture in either area. We have applied ice and heat and also given her anti-inflamatory medicine for 8 weeks. She tried jogging again and it is hurting again and seems to be worse. I have made an appointment with a podiatrist.
Avatar m tn If I fold my toes or open them up I feel that pain on top of my foot near my outside area, burning, dingle feeling and hurt a little just sitting still. I've got this very very small red bruse on top of my right big toes at the middle joint. I have no insurance anymore. PLease tell me what to do! 506791 tn?1439842983 Chesapeake Bandylegs the Hunter, affectionately called Chessie or Bear, went Outside today for the first time since we moved. She's taken the change harder than the other two and spends most of her time upstairs in the bed/sitting room. She's been coming down a bit more to visit, quite a bit today. This was especially nice since we kenneled them over the weekend as Anita and I went back to northern Illinois to attend an event with friends.
Avatar m tn on outside of my right foot, half way between my ankle and toes, i feel a tearing sensation when i bend my foot at certain angles. the pain level increases the farther i extend my foot. please advise what this may be.
Avatar f tn I have never let Stardust outside. Lately she has been running out the front door at least once a day. She meows at the door every time I walk by. She ran out into the street today. I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to keep her inside?
Avatar m tn When i was leaving the steam room i hit the back of my foot by the edge of the door. The edge of the door or the bottom part of the door is sharp and broken so it hit my foot from the back and the cut was deep I bled a lot.
338416 tn?1420045702 s quite foot drop yet, but I certainly have to *think* about lifting my foot up. They make a foot brace that would hold my foot up, but it's plastic and clunky. I don't think I would have started running again if it wasn't for the weight. I get so frustrated, because I'm really trying to restrict my calories, and it doesn't do a bit of good. Working out on the trainer was exercise, but it just wasn't enough. I'm starting to wonder if I have a thyroid problem.
Avatar f tn This knot does not hurt. Could this be the source of my pain? My foot actually hurts more toward the outside and where the heel starts. The heel itself is not really painful. Also, my foot feels like it is going to get a cramp in more now. Is the knot any cause for concern? Thanks for your advice.

Avatar f tn In the 60+ years I've owned cats, I've NEVER seen anything like this horny, scaly hard brown growth on the pad of her foot. About 3 months ago, I noticed what looked like a cat poop stuck to the foot pad of Littlebit's right foot, about an inch or so long, curling under her right foot from outside to inside edge of the pad. She had no symptoms other than a momentary slight limp, as tho' she had stepped on something in the carpet.
Avatar m tn These pains exist only as a shooting pain as a direct result of either running or tightening all the muscles around the knee simultaneously. These pains cannot be reproduced from pressure. After seeing multiple doctors, sports med docs, and an orthopedic doc, no one was able to resolve the problem. My MRI came back clean (according to the sports med doc and the ortho doc) and they basically told me I had nothing wrong with me and I should go home and just wait it out.
Avatar m tn If the pain comes on bending the knee as in walking step or running downhill or down a flight of stairs, then it could be due to Patellofemoral syndrome or runners knee. This happens due to mal-alignment of the knee cap on bending the knee (and hence any imaging study has to be taken with the knee bent), injury to the knee (you may have sustained it in past), flat feet, over tight or over lax muscles around the knee joint. All these aspects will have to be investigated by your doctor.
Avatar m tn HIV is unable to reproduce outside its living host (unlike many bacteria or fungi, which may do so under suitable conditions), except under laboratory conditions; therefore, it does not spread or maintain infectiousness outside its host.
Avatar f tn Hi Ramitm, The pain on outside of knee from running sounds like it could be illotial band syndrome, a common running injury, which I've also had and is unrelated to FD but is bloody sore! Caused by poor running technique which you will have whilst still have FD as your gait will not be correct so I avoided running whilst I was recovering.
