Common Questions and Answers about Foot pain hiking

foot

Avatar f tn One odd thing is that somedays the toes do not hurt at all or they will shift from toes on the left foot to the right foot, though the right foot is the most affected foothe pain starts in the toe and seems to run into my foot. (Nerve?) I am at my wits end. I love racewalking and I was walking 5 to 6 miles a day and racing a 5K on Saturdays. I am unable to walk that far on most days now. The pain is just too excruciating.
Avatar n tn Since the injury, which occurred while hiking and hopping off a rock, my heel has been numb and tingling and I have a very sore spot on the ball of my foot. The foot is very still in the morning and the numbness and tender spot is constant. I shared this with my orthopoedic surgeon several times and he kept saying it would go away. It is not improving and my foot is more stiff and sore in the morning than it has been. What do I do next?
Avatar n tn I have the oddest foot pain that came out of no where two days ago. The pain in my right foot makes me limp for a few steps after getting up. The pain is mostly in the sole of my foot and it is the the worst for the first ten steps or so then disappears. It comes and goes as I'm walking so I don't think I hurt it at the gym the other day. Anyone get foot pain...it hurts!
973741 tn?1342342773 So, work out friends, I have a problem. One heel has a lot of pain. It's been ongoing since early July. I had gone to my son's boy scout camp and wore tennis shoes. I think I walked about 10 miles through gravel, wood trails, up and down hills and steps. My little piggies were swollen and tired after that! But worse, my left heel hurt like crazy. And . . .it still hurts. I've had plantar faciaitis before.
Avatar m tn Next morning i woke up at 3 am with more pain than i could fathom. Foot was red and very swollen. Excrutiating. Caught taxi to Dr. he said i have gout? blood tests showed normal uric acid level. Treated me for gout anyway. I'm on colgout. It's been 5 days. Still can't walk. Toe joint is still swollen. Can't bend toe up and have minimal motion down. I'm petrified! I love running, hiking etc and being imobile like this is killing me.
Avatar n tn He was a typical boy, playing sports, skateboarding, bike riding, hiking, running..whatever.
1308443 tn?1302693321 t move the toe next to my pinky and whenever I put any weight on that part of my foot it hurts really bad. The top and bottom of my foot are swollen. The toe next to my pinky won't even touch the ground. I get hurt all the time and I don't want to go to the doc unless there is something wrong and that he can fix that I can't. The bruising and pain is where my toes meet my foot. There is one spot though that when weight is put on my foot it feels like something stabs my foot.
Avatar m tn Hi~ That's a high altitude for hiking 7 days, for even the most experienced hiker. Have you done this before? The air is thin at that altitude which can cause difficulty with breathing. Short hikes will give you an idea of what you're in for. But,here's what I really think: Get an appt. with his cardiologist and talk it over. Only he/she would know what's best, given his history.
Avatar f tn I didnt start hiking ...
Avatar f tn I have small blisters that keep popping up on the bottom of my left foot. They start small and look a little brownish inside. Nothing works and they itch like crazy. They have fluid in them.
Avatar f tn I fell the weekend before Father's Day while hiking in a state park. I sprained my ankle while falling down some natural stairs that were built into the trail and had to hike out 1.5 miles to the trail head. I walked on my sprain for a week before seeing a doctor, but ever since my fall the area above my left ankle has been numb. Occassionally I will feel a tingling sensation like a foot "waking up" after "falling asleep" but then it will go back to being numb.
Avatar f tn The hike is a 1.1 mile-long trail and is a 1,000-foot change in elevation -- the shore is about 6,100 feet and the top of the trail is about 7,100 (I live at 4,500 feet or so). I knew I was out of shape, but not this bad. Very soon after starting the (very steep) hike, My heart rate was way above what I would consider a safe pace even for aerobic exercise and I got a nose bleed -- the first of my entire life (I'm 28).
Avatar n tn Two of the toes on his right rear foot were removed by a littermate who nursed too vigorously on his foot instead of the mother's nipple. Adam is a year old now, and walking is not a problem for him, nor is most kinds of regular navigation.
Avatar m tn ve have similar issues with my left foot, a very short excruciating pain, which recurs depending on the angle of stepping; My X-rays showed nothing, so the Doc put me on asteroids-prednisone, pain-killers and antibiotics to prevent side effects of prednisone; I am also having to rest a lot, this seem to work. I will also try to get burdock root since I certainly prefer natural treatment.
Avatar f tn Has anyone found that hiking aggravates Chiari symptoms? I had been feeling really good for a few weeks and, without thinking, decided to join my friend on a 4 mile hike across rocky, somewhat steep terrain (1300 ft change in elevation over 2 miles). I got home that afternoon, settled in on the couch, and got slammed with intense neck/head pain that has been bothering me ever since. I've also noticed that I've been lightheaded and some of the tingling and numbness has returned.
Avatar m tn (not sure what else to call it) on the arch of his foot. This is the second time he has had this, the first time we drained it with a syringe several times but it would fill back up within a matter of hours. He went to the doctor and she did not know what it was, drained it, packed it and it eventually healed up. Now a couple of months later he has another in a different spot on the same foot.
Avatar f tn If you're hiking on mountain trails, and you don't say if you are, hiking boots are made for that. Today's light-weight hiking boots are really running shoes inside a firm support shoe for the bends and creases of mountain hiking. Aside from that, if you don't have shin splits -- if you do, you have to deal with that before doing anything else -- are you stretching at all? You might be very tight, which makes it harder to do new things.
Avatar f tn So i went hiking today and it really wasn't too intense, it was fun and active and my three year old went with so it couldn't of been that bad :) but now I'm feeling all crampy and uncomfortable. It's not intense pain but it is keeping me up and making me wonder if i pushed myself too hard, I haven't really been an exerciser"... any thoughts?
Avatar n tn Not anything intense like climbing, of course, but hiking, for one thing. Is this groin pain something that will just be there for the rest of my life? I frequently walk several miles at a time and experience no symptoms. I believe the few uphill climbs might have caused this. Would physical therapy be an option if the pain is only present after something like several miles of hiking? Does it sound like something surgery could fix?
Avatar f tn Moe, your post was not at all wordy! You summed up very well how I feel and a lot of the issues in relation to foot drop-lack of info, lack of shoes, uncomfortable braces, no mention of this as a side effect from THR, the constant pain as well as the emotional toll that it takes. If you are able to find sandles that work I would be interested in what you find! I have went through dozens of braces. They all have their drawbacks-no one perfect that is comfy let alone not a fashion eyesore.
Avatar n tn I couldnt run a mile before hiking but once i started hiking up hills it really go me to control my breathing and boost my stamina. To be fair i use to carry my 23lb son in a hiking baby back pack so thatvwas a 30lb total but since about week 7 i stopped carrying him i dont want to exert my body too much.
Avatar f tn All that said - hypothyroidism CAN cause joint/muscle aches/pain. I have quite a bit of pain, mostly in my knees and sometimes hips. I also go through periods where my entire body hurts - including my hair......... I also have a lot of muscle cramping, especially in my feet and legs and sometimes in my fingers and neck/jaw area, but I'm not sure if that is thyroid related or not.
Avatar m tn My best friend was hiking with her son yesterday. He was wearing flip flops. He went behind a rock to use the bathroom and started yelling. My friend went to check on him and he had a syringe stuck to the side of his foot, there was blood. She then took her son and the needle to the E.R. They did blood work on the boy and sent them home. He needs to go for further testing in July. She and I wonder why no drugs were given to the boy who is eight years old? Is this a risk for HIV?
