How long is a urine specimen shelf life once collected for a cocaine test?

m posting this here as well as in the anxiety forums, in the hope that someone may answer. I am taking Fluoxetine 20mg for anxiety and depression, and have been taking it for just over a week. How long before I begin to see any benefits? Also, two more questions - they may seem trivial, but they are bothering me - is it safe to break open the Fluoxetine capsules, as I can not swallow them? Also I am taking 5mg Diazepam - is that safe?

My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. He said that my brother should take one 20mg tablet of fluoxetine for the morning and 0.5 tablet for xanax for morning and night for 14 days . He said to take the 0.5 mg xanax tablet half in morning and the other half at night So, my brother took the fluoxetine and xanax for 14 days and then again went to the psychiatrist. My brother has not felt any improvement for his ocd or depression from the tablets.

not sure what this means.. melatonin reduces the antidepressant effect of fluoxetine.. and then in the last sentence fluoxetine has lead to a measurable depletion of melatonin in people..

I have found that the synthetics only have a shelf of about 2-3 years, if that. But Armour has a shelf life of 17 years. Are the Raw thyroids sold on the internet a possibility for me also and are their shelf life as long? I take 120 mcg levothyroxine.

Hi all been on fluoxetine before now and used to take it at tea time 3 years ago but this time round been on it 5 weeks now and was feeling good after 1-2 weeks but just this last week having difficulty sleeping and feeling rubbish because I thought it was working after the first week anyone suggesting this med is best taken in the morning instead of tea/night time also I'm only taking 20mg not to sure wether this needs increasing if I feel rubbish after feeling good.

Another way to avoid withdrawal is to take fluoxetine (Prozac) for a few weeks after stopping Lexapro (or any other SSRI), then simply stopping the fluoxetine. The very long half-life of fluoxetine causes it to leave the body over a period of months, tapering so slowly that the person doesn't have any withdrawal. My recommendation at this point would be to go back on a low dose of Lexapro--maybe half of what you used to take.

5 years ago I went through some hard times so my doctor put me on 20mg fluoxetine which really helped the depression I was having, but it also made me feel really wired, sweaty, and hyper. I cannot seem to kick the Daytime sleepiness. I am taking 40 mg, fluoxetine, 150 bupropion. When I was on the bupropion with lamictal it seemed like I had less of this sleepiness. Is there a possibility that lamictal may help? Anyone with experience on this? Should I up the fluoxetine, up the bupropion, switch bupropion for lamictal , add lamictal, up bupropion? Thoughts?

ve been on fluoxetine for almost 5 years to treat my clinical depression, panic attacks, and general anxiety. I started out at 20mg per day, then after about 3 years I noticed some symptoms starting to return. After trying a number of other SSRIs, my Dr. and I settled on increasing the fluoxetine to 40mg per day and it's been working great ever since. At times, I have stressful circumstances that are beyond my control which can flare up my anxiety and sometimes even panic attacks.

I went to the doctors and saw a new doctor 5 weeks ago and he said he would take me off trazadone 50mg and to start taking fluoxetine i asked him when i take the fluoxetine he said today and in 4 weeks he will cut down my trazadone. But the 4 week appointment he was not in so i cancelled it.

Fluoxetine is generic Prozac. I've been on it a few times, and I'm back on it again. It will take 4-6 weeks before you begin to feel a difference (sometimes sooner). But it will happen. The only side effect I've ever had from it was insomnia, but that always goes away in a few weeks, so give it some time. As far as alcohol goes, you don't say how much you drank, but I have had a couple of beers now and then on fluoxetine without any problems.

There's no such thing as a nervous breakdown. You need to get into therapy. As for the medication, you won't know if it'll work until you try it -- we all react differently. Alcohol increases depression and stomach problems, so that's a problem, not a remedy.

Ive been to the doctors and they put me on Fluoxetine tablets. One a day until they tell me to stop. However I've had two so far but want to stop. I know you have to slowly come off of them but if I've only had two can I just stop? Please help!

So this morning iv put my foot down and told my doctor I knew fluoxetine was doing nothing for me like it had done 3 years ago and needed a change after persuading him and listing all the side effects I was getting he changed me to mirtazapine 30mg to be taken a night with a good drink of liquid my post really is to anyone out there have they had this change and was it better for them?

Hi, hope someone can help me. I've been prescribed Fluoxetine 20mg by my GP, and I've been taking it for just over a week. I'm also taking 5mg Diazepam. When I get hot or sweat I smell differently than I used to. It started in early spring of 2008. The only thing changed in my diet has been that I've doubled my prescription of Fluoxetine from 20 mg to 40 mg. The only place I notice it being different is on my torso, like my back, stomach, and chest. It's strange, I know, but I smell vaguely of peanut butter (or something similar). And no, I am not eating a lot of peanut butter, or anything else in abundance.
