Flomax side effects blood pressure

Common Questions and Answers about Flomax side effects blood pressure

flomax

Avatar n tn He takes 5 mg blood pressure med and he takes Flomax daily. When he first started taking Flomax; which he needs to be able to urinate or as he says to keep his plumbing working, anyway, he would have dizzy spells. His doctor said this was normal, a side effect of Flomax. But now lately he has been passing out; I think that is unusual for any medication and I'm worried there may be something else going on.
Avatar m tn I have taken Flomax for a week, and am very weary of the side effects. It effects my vision - I can feel it in my eyes. It dulls my brain, I can feel it in my head. It caused the ringing in my ears to get worse. I've had minor chest pain for a few days. All of these are on the list of side effects.
1580703 tn?1651904887 Hello, Every drug has its own side effects and Flomax (tamsulosin) is no exception. However it has been reported that treatment with FLOMAX capsules for up to 12 months had no significant effect on prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and does not effect prostate. It effect the vision and may cause blurred vision but that is found in only 0.2- 2% of the patients.
Avatar m tn It would be unusual though to have this production reduced down to zero unless the man was ejaculating very often. In general terms Flomax is a useful medication with very few side-effects..
Avatar n tn Are you taking Flomax for prostate issues? Flomax works by relaxing the muscles in the bladder and prostate, which leads to improved flow of urine and fewer symptoms of BPH. It indeed can have side effects like you describe. https://www.healthline.com/health/enlarged-prostate/flomax-side-effects#side-effects It's a relatively low percentage of patients, less than 4% that have these types of side effects but none the less, that could be going on for you.
Avatar m tn Hi, Thanks for writing in. Prostatitis is usually not a side effect of use of flomax, indeed it can happen due to BPH, for which flomax is used as treatment. It would be better to get prostrate examination done by a urologist and take opinion for surgery for resolving these symptoms. Choice of antibiotics depends upon the kind of organism affecting the prostrate. Best.
Avatar m tn My dad took Flomax, and definitely had the dizziness issue, which is a result of blood pressure changes. He was 30+ years older than you, and had prostate cancer, so your experience may be very different. I don't know if you have prostatitis or BPH, or both - https://www.healthline.com/health/enlarged-prostate/prostatitis-and-bph That's up to the doctors. Has anyone been able to examine you or do any blood work or anything?
Avatar m tn Most likely neither one is possible for me. If the drugs help with urination, I would remain on them and gladly take the side effects of sexual dysfunction. Currently I will have to decide whether I will remain with the suprapubic catheter or will have a surgery to alter the flow of urine. This would mean closing the urethra to the penis and having a dry stoma created on the abdominal wall that I can self cath again.
Avatar m tn it doesn't seem to be a great drug since it lowers blood pressure too much, I almost fainted on losartan and flomax. Is it true it permenently exhausts you and causes muscle weakness?
Avatar f tn This has been increased to 40mg but the pain from my hiatus hernia is still present specially in my back and loads of indigestion , starts after breakfast been on these now since a week this thursday but have found that my ankles have swollen and my feet also get wheezy saw from sheet in pills that these are rare side effects so cannot decide whether to go back doctor.or not it is beginning to make me fed up.
Avatar m tn t have side effects on diabetes its a beta blocker and it treats high blood pressure and it helps people to that have problems with there heart and as well it prevents blood clots
Avatar n tn Could low blood pressure be a symptom of my FEC chemo? I'm having trouble with my veins insofar as getting a canula inserted, i've had my 4th of 6 treatments (29/01/2010). I have just taken my bp and it is 91/63.
Avatar m tn pressure in lower abdomen (pelvis and groin) and right side of what feels like bottom part of urinary tract, plus the constant urge to urinate -- aggravated by aggressive fluid hydration. Just read some studies concluding that aggressive fluid hydration during a kidney stone episode does not necessarily help reduce pain or improve the chances of successful stone passage. What do you think? Please, advise. Thank you very much.
Avatar m tn 20 years old is young to already be on blood pressure medication. Has your doctor done lab work and imaging to find a cause for your elevated blood pressure? Are you overweight or obese? You are currently taking a class of medication called a beta-blocker. The side effects you are experiencing are very common. I would ask your doctor about switching you to a different class of medication like a diuretic, ACE inhibitor, ARB, or calcium channel blocker.
Avatar f tn You have a lot of variables going on. Your blood pressure must run high overall? One reading wouldn't necessarily mean it's high. I was offered Lisinopril, I thought it was for high blood pressure, while I was hospitalized for a-fib last fall. I was already on an anti-arrythmic and a beta blocker and a couple of other unrelated drugs. Anyway they offered me Liprinosil and I declined to add yet another drug. My cholestersol is about the same as yours and I'm on crestor for that.
Avatar n tn m taking 25mg twice a day for tachycardias, and my biggest side effect is low blood pressure (my blood pressure was always ideal, now it's never over 80/50 most days) ... and with that, of course, some fatigue! aloneinthismaze -- how many pvcs do you have a day? I have them, too, but luckily, I've never noticed any. I can't imagine what that must be like! I'd DEFINITELY get checked out with your new symptoms. Get your liver checked out ASAP.
1495558 tn?1288805527 this does not sound like a normal reaction, and why, for heavens sake, if she is having these side effects, should she stay on it.
Avatar n tn , where normal for him means slow urination due to long standing BHP, but not as slow, painful, and dribbling as with Flomax. We are just guessing that the way Flomax works by relaxing muscles is causing these effects. (Could the enlarged prostate end up pressing even more on muscles?? I realize these are just guesses: I have looked at a lot of medical sites, but this does not look like to be listed as a side effect!

1295419 tn?1276822872 Lexapro carries under it's side effects hyPERtension, (high blood pressure) postural hyPOtension, (lowered BP upon changing positions, usually sitting to standing) and tachycardia. If you have only noticed these changes since beginning the Lexapro, I would certainly bring them to the attention of your doctor. They may very well stop when your body adjusts to the meds, but it never hurts to play it safe.
Avatar m tn Whatever you do, just be careful of the levaquin...the side effects can be very dangerous. From what ive heard, the fda has some sort of black label warning on this drug, the most severe warning a drug can have...next is to pull it off the shelf. I was on Levaquin for 5 days and have experienced much of the same side effects of others.
Avatar n tn that's probably from the Bystolic getting your blood pressure down too low. Did you lose weight recently? Can you check your BP when you feel light-headed? Maybe your doc will reduce your dosage. Also, make sure the light-headedness doesn't result in a fall.
Avatar n tn 15th, 2009 because she thought that anxiety was the cause for my uncontrollable blood pressure, but it did not lower the pressure. I have now been off this terrible drug for 13 days and still have terrible side effects. To give you some history, Sept. 2008, I went into the hospital with chest pains, spent the night with all the tests and ruled out a heart attack. Since childhood, I have always had moderate blood pressure but have been on meds for the past 7 years.
Avatar f tn possibly,, have you had your blood pressure checked recently? Some meds do raise the blood pressure in some users.... Id definatly have it checked.
