Flexeril long acting

Common Questions and Answers about Flexeril long acting

flexeril

Avatar f tn At times a combination of a long acting relaxant is given with a short acting one for proper control of spasticity. Whether you need both or not can be decided only by your treating doctor based on your symptoms and response to drugs. Take care!
Avatar m tn That is the only experience I have. I have not taken the long acting form and based on my experience with the short acting form I would not. But understand that everyone's system is different. Mine is very sensitive to all medications. My elderly father took it several years ago without the hang over feeling and without drowsiness. Sorry this is the only experience I can offer you. Amrix should be the same as Flexeril except it is long acting form.
1387175 tn?1326400997 My sister has RA so I understand the pain you go through. She also has 4 bulging discs and fibromyalgia. Her Dr has her on 3 long acting pills per day and 4 for breakthrough pain. She also takes Flexeril and it really helps her back pain. Have you ever tried this med before? It might help better than the Soma. How long have you been on your meds?
Avatar m tn I just seen that you posted. Sorry so long to get back with you. The flexeril never helped me. It did not even make me sleepy. Why don't you call the posion control hotline and believe it or not they can help you. If not they can give you a number to call. If you don't want to do that call your local er and let them know what's going on for him.
232328 tn?1207090071 Hi there. I was prescribed flexeril today for some back pain. Can anyone tell me exactly what it is? If it is addicting? Will it make me sleepy/hyper, etc?
Avatar f tn I have been prescribed Flexeril for over a year, as a muscle relaxant for long term back and neck pain... I was told it was a 'safe' drug, and not to worry about it - it was not addicting. Now, after taking it for this long, I have re-read the patient information packet, and see that it is only for short term use, and I cannot find information on how to titrate off. I get migraine headaches whenever I stop taking it for any length of time, as well as other symptoms...
Avatar f tn ve also tried Soma and that also worked pretty well for me and was not as sedating (for me anyway) as the flexeril. I do think the flexeril is a little better than the Soma was as far as helping wiht pain/spasms.
Avatar f tn It is very common for most Drs. to move their patients from a short acting medication to a long acting one when they move from the "acute" pain phase...which is up to three months to the "chronic" pain phase, which is thereafter. I'm confused on why you wouldn't do well on Oxycontin if you do well on Percocet. It is the exact same opiate. Oxycodone. The only difference is that it lasts longer. Obviously the Percocet has Acetaminophen in it..
1415174 tn?1453243103 However, the human body adapts to long-term dosing of most central-acting (brain) medication (a process called neuroplasticity), and most medical professionals have zero clue about this adaptation. With high-dose Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) the best way to discontinue is with a slow wean -- 20-25% per month. If the PA is ignorant, ask to speak to the physician.
Avatar f tn ve decided (and sent an email) to talk to the NP at the pain clinic about switching me over to a long-acting medication for my pain. I'm thinking it will give me better relief. Even though I'm on a high dose now (45 mg. every 4 hours of oxycodone,) my pain seems to return after 2 to 3 hours. And I did have a bad flare-up this weekend; most likely due to the fact I ran low on medication due to my script not coming in the mail. Now it's a question of which medication???
1415174 tn?1453243103 Hi again has anyone tried Flexeril (muscle relaxant)? Any bad side effects and did it help pain , I have I guess myofascial pain. Any trouble with withdrawal gettnig off of it?
Avatar f tn Hi I just happened across your post. I am sure others will be a long very soon. While you are waiting for the pros here; I would say, if I were you I would slowwly wean down. Your body is used to getting this medication. It is going to be looking for it. This is just my opinion, I am not a doctor. I have taken flexeril, could not take more than a 1/4 or I would feel very odd. Maybe that was a good thing. You can get a pill cutter and start cutting your dose.
Avatar m tn Anyway I am already on Valium (for years) and Lamitctal However the ER doc prescribe oxycodone, flexeril, and for some reason ativan? Which I kept telling them i don't understand since i am already on 20mg valiums? They kept saying they will ask and the Doctor said she would update my med information but when i got home I saw they did not update any information and she wrote to take all 3 with no comment on the valium i already been on for years?
221387 tn?1210933058 I have a question, I took a drug screen but I took flexeril, will flexeril make you fail a drug screen. Anyone that can help me I will be ever so greatful!!!
757527 tn?1237893063 My doctor prescribed 5mg Flexeril daily. I took one last night and my pain went from a 8 (on a 10 scale) to about a 3. Has anyone else tried these? Can they be used long term? I'd rather not have to rely on medicine, but if this is helping me, I may have to stick with it. I also get myofascial massages, use warm heat, take Vit B50, and am trying some new supplements for muscles and joints.
1068422 tn?1293684253 I have noticed that when I take it with Flexeril it reduces my spasms well. I only take 1 mg at this point but I have taken it as much as 4 mg per day. Klonipin is a longer acting anti-anxiety drug which means it lasts for 8 hours.
Avatar m tn I’ve been taking Flexeril long term as well for ddd in lower back as well as back pain from MVA. I’ve had similar problems that you described. I went to see my pcp and I also got blood work done. It appears my wbc was decreased. I researched the web and found that Flexeril and Benadryl, two meds I’ve been taking since I started working nights and my back pain became unbearable can cause low wbc.
733362 tn?1489794936 I have been taking 3/4 of a 10mg Flexerit once a day before bed Pain Management Dr put me on 4-1/2 yrs ago while detoxing from Valium (horrible). I'm sure God brought me here getting off Valium. People here helped me so much like Cricket, AtThebeach and many others. I couldn't have done it without them and our Heavenly Father. Was on Gabapentin (for me is a horrible drug). He offered that again, maybe won't be as bad now, not withdrawing from Valium.
Avatar m tn I am new to this site, saw your post, and feel compelled to tell you about my experience with Flexeril. Several years ago I was having serious neck spasms, so my doctor prescribed Flexeril. I don't remember the milligram, it was standard, and I was to take 3 a day. The first day I took three, I found myself looking at my bottle of pain medication thinking about taking the whole bottle at once! I immediately threw the Flexeril in the trash.
Avatar f tn I applaud your resolve to get clean, but want to caution you that methadone is a long acting narcotic and your withdrawal symptoms will stick around for quite a while. You will feel rotten for as long as four to six weeks. You may want to switch to something shorter acting, talk to your doctor about it, and taper off of that. There is really no easy way of detoxing from home. I have dealt with hundreds of addicts who have all told me horror stories of doing it by themselves.
237152 tn?1206651036 I'm off the pain pills, but my Dr. gave me Flexeril awhile back, but I never took it because I was only interested in the hydro. I have taken Soma and it gives a unique buzz at first, and I have red they can be addictive. Does Flexeril have any addictive properties? Is it safe to take?
Avatar m tn Flexeril is a muscle relaxant, not a medication for nerve pain.
