flexeril

733362 tn?1489794936 I have been taking 3/4 of a 10mg Flexerit once a day before bed Pain Management Dr put me on 4-1/2 yrs ago while detoxing from Valium (horrible). I'm sure God brought me here getting off Valium. People here helped me so much like Cricket, AtThebeach and many others. I couldn't have done it without them and our Heavenly Father. Was on Gabapentin (for me is a horrible drug). He offered that again, maybe won't be as bad now, not withdrawing from Valium.
Avatar m tn why is he having muscle spasms? I have taken flexeril and soma for many many years..( never that many at a time) I would think if his spasms are severe enough to do that he would go to a dr. or the ER. I hope he is ok....but the guy neeeds help and only a dr can do it....It may be from a chemical imbalance that he is getting the spasms...and no muscle relaxer will do anything for that long term.
Avatar f tn Flexeril (CYCLOBENZAPRINE) is a CNS-active muscle relaxant. It does not work on the muscle, or the nerve that activates the muscle (a motor nerve). It acts on the brain stem, where pain signals are transmitted from the spinal cord. It may also have some activity within the spinal cord. Both these organs of the central nervous system (CNS) are very complex -- they challenge today's medical knowledge. In other words -- we don't know all they do in processing pain.
Avatar m tn So I do not have a lot of experience with medications, and I am not knowledgeable about anxiety disorders. All I do know is how Flexeril affected me, and that is why I think it is the culprit and source of your father's problems. I did a little research at the time Flexeril caused me suicidal ideation, and I read other stories like mine. Everyone is different and brain pharmacology is an interesting, infinite abyss.
Avatar f tn See if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep. Clonidine is very helpful for the creepy-crawly feeling and control of blood pressure variations. It will make your withdrawals easier. Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter.
232328 tn?1207090071 Hi there. I was prescribed flexeril today for some back pain. Can anyone tell me exactly what it is? If it is addicting? Will it make me sleepy/hyper, etc?
14195784 tn?1435290693 //www.medhelp.org/posts/Pain-Management/How-long-dose-it-take-to-detox-from-Flexeril/show/2621705#post_12760718 You are showing those signs of depression my dear. You may not consciously "feel sad" at the moment of tears but your body is feeling an emotion and is expressing it. Anxiety or Depression can make you cry "for no reason". However there is a reason. Your body is doing it's best to release the emotions/anxiety/depression that you are feeling internally.
Avatar f tn While trying to wean down I would up your vitamins. There is something called a Thomas Recipe but that is for narcotics,so not sure if it would work for you. Your muscles may need more magnesium than normal. Taking Epsom salt baths would help as well. Lots and lots of water. Short walks every day. Were you taking for muscle cramps? I am having computer problems but will come back, my son is bringing a new one tonight If possible please go slow.
Avatar n tn Hi Elsa, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am glad you found us but sorry to hear about the pain in your rib area. Muscle injuries can take weeks to heal and are painful. You may very well have a pulled muscle and please don't think I am doubting your diagnosis. This is just a thought but an x-ray is only a good diagnostic tool for bones. ER's rule out life threatening conditions are are not always the best at diagnosing other conditions.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I have used flexeril for my back injuries before and the only side effect was rebound depression...but because of the mechanism that muscle relaxants use, that's a common side effect. however, it's something to be aware of; if, after your medicine begins to wear off, you feel unaccountably down...be aware that the flexeril may be causing it.
757527 tn?1237893063 FLEXERIL should be used only for short periods (up to two or three weeks) because adequate evidence of effectiveness for more prolonged use is not available and because muscle spasm associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions is generally of short duration and specific therapy for longer periods is seldom warranted." http://www.rxlist.com/flexeril-drug.
Avatar n tn Selma is the greatest and calling the pharmaccy is a good idea. You can also get on line to see what the difference is. I used Flexill myself for a while and it didn't help much, so now they have me on Zanaflex which seems to help better. I would call the pharmacy though and see what they think. Hope you get some muscle relief. For me this time of year I use my ice pack to ease the pain. I also wouldn't let anyone get near your next or head.
Avatar m tn m unsure of just how damaging Flexeril is to the kidneys. My only other medicine history has been with Ketoconazole, and that stuff is practically toxic for your liver.
Avatar m tn there is flexeril but that didnt realy work for me, zanaflex however worked really good.
237152 tn?1206651036 I have friends that take them and i have no claims of effectiveness.......again, as long as your not popping them like pez they are very good. I took them for 7 years 2 at evening when my pain was the worst. when I got up to 8 a day.......thats when i had to say goodbye to them, but it took 7 years to get to that tolerance. And, the only reason that happened is because vic's came into the equation and it was downhill fast. Nauty.................
Avatar f tn That is exactly the way he is. The other thing is he is also taking flexeril and other meds for other health issues. But the flexeril is the only one that I'm concerned about. I don't know if it will cause more problems or not. Thanx for the response.
Avatar f tn ve also tried Soma and that also worked pretty well for me and was not as sedating (for me anyway) as the flexeril. I do think the flexeril is a little better than the Soma was as far as helping wiht pain/spasms.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Yes, I guess the doc said it is common to get the irregular heartbeat than they seem to say on the package insert for Flexeril. It worked well for me for 3 weeks and then worked only as a good sleeping pill and took my night sweats away, LOL. I can't take valium because I take klonopin. My FP said I could but I don't think it is a good idea for me. As for you if you don't get bad with drawal by using it once in a while (off and on) instead of every day it would be good.
Avatar f tn flexeril is not a drug of abuse as a norm..and good for u...made it thru to day 5..
1401023 tn?1280781358 It possibly could be the flexeril. I took one 10mg dose of flexeril and it made me extremely confused. Words would come out of my mouth that I never inteded to say. It was horrible. The one dose lasted for a long time and it took about 3 days for the med to completely get out of my system. I will never in my life take that med again. I have horrid panic attacks when my pain is sky high for weeks and there is no end in sight for relief. I've now started to meditate and self hypnosis.
Avatar m tn What I am wondering is, has anyone used Flexeril to help them sleep at night? My husband has some, and I am just remembering how hard it was to sleep. I will have to use something to help sleep at night because I work Mon-Fri 8:00-5:00.
747443 tn?1233024111 celebrex along with lyrica 150 mg. twice daily. Taken this for one month and no relief.
Avatar f tn My back is really bothering me!! Hurts so bad and can't relax for anything!! I'm 35 weeks and really want to! Has anyone taken a muscle relaxer or even a half of one?
Avatar m tn The oxy alone is not working for the pain I wouldnt have mind trying the Flexeril but I read seizure is a side effect? if it is I am a leery if it is not a side effect I am willing to try it. The info i find is contradicting.... Thanks again for any help on this last question on if Flexeril is a seizure risk!
