Fibromyalgia in remission

Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia in remission

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn I have read on various sites that fibromyalgia has periods of remission. I have yet to experience this. I might have a better than average day per week, but that is about it. Do any of you experience periods of remission and for how long? I have been in a constant flare up for about a year now. I can look back over the years and see when i started to have some of the problems that i have now, and those symptoms started when i was about 25 and pregnant with my first son.
Avatar f tn I hear that some women with fibromyalgia go into remission while pregnant. May have something to do with the increase in hormones, particularly progesterone. Progesterone has a calming effect on the body and is good for pain relief. Some people are even using natural progesterone cream for fibromyalgia treatment. I don't now how far along you are in your pregnancy, but maybe the pain will get better.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed on 1999. I went on interferon from 1999-2000. I instantly had good results and was told I'm in "remission". That was 11 yrs. ago, and now my Hep C Virus Ab came back 11.0. Does anyone know if that could mean the virus is back?? I can't get in to see a liver Dr. for onver a month. Anyone know if this # is high?
1170411 tn?1263408458 I'm a 24 y/o who's in remission from Papillary Thyroid Cancer.. for almost a year now. (1/13/2009) For the past two weeks or so, I've been having back pain, mostly in the lower back, shoulders, below the shoulders and such. I've never had back pain before and I didn't lift anything heavy or strain my back. I'm also having leg cramps and muscle twitching, i can feel the twitch in my upper arms and in my legs.
4856774 tn?1360095016 My Fibro went into remission (after suffering 22 yrs.) with a huge change in my diet. Went on a 3 week cleansing program from my Chiropractor / Functional Neurologist. No white carb foods, off the sugar, off the caffeine. Fresh foods. Lost weight and Fibro got better within those 3 weeks ! Find a Functional Neurologist in your area . . . they are few and far between though. Hang in there.
Avatar m tn It is possible for even the worst of us Fibromyalgics to put our pain in remission with proper stress, diet, exercise and medication management. It just takes time and the right environment. Perhaps some cognitive therapy might be helpful? Don't give up. Fibromyalgia can be managed and improved.
Avatar f tn I was told that I should stay as active as I can and be preparred to be in a wheel chair by the age of 30. All of my jobs have all been very phyiscal; jobs usually men did. In 2008 I was rediagnosed with AS. I have also been diagnosed with asthma, acid reflux, celiac intolerance, fibromyalgia, and severe chronic constipation. In 2000 I had a series of surgeries which did not help. It is now being discovered that all of the other conditions are connected to the untreated AS.
Avatar f tn t felt this close to normal in years, i still have flares, but not nearly as bad as they were. Google LDN for Fibromyalgia, you will find a Stanford University study, and other great info. Check it out, it is worth it. also you need to get it from a compounding pharmacy because as of now it is only made in 50mg capsules, the max dose for Fibro patients is 4.5 mg.
Avatar n tn Alright, I am 23 years old and I have been progressively getting sicker and sicker for two years now. The best guess is Fibromyalgia. It started with mild headaches and has developed into pain everywhere (mostly joints and muscles in my legs) I also have IBS, fatigue, severe migraine / tension headaches, I also have been having kidney problems (stones) but In these past two years it has gotten so much worse.
Avatar m tn I agree that it sounds like you need to see a neurologist, possibly a rheumatologist. I am in remission from cancer and the chemotherapy totally damaged my body. I have numerous neuropathy issues, Fibromyalgia, arthritis and auto-immune disorders. All left over side effects from taking the toxic chemotherapy poisons. The symptoms you describe sound all too familiar. If you have been dealing with this for 2 years, surely you've addressed this with your doctor, right?
Avatar f tn March-May - Unidentified pain in left side of face and aching in left upper teeth - negative CT scan of sinuses - negative dental problems. 2006: June - Severe pain in upper abdomen - almost went to emergency room, but didn't - negative CT scan of gallbladder. 2006: August - diagnosed with several food allergies including Gluten and Cow's Milk. 2007: April-August - More of the same, but also weakness, terrible brain fog; could not complete tasks etc.
741900 tn?1235160618 You are so lucky to be in remission I feel like I have been in one big flare up for 4 years with no end in sight. I am not sure what being in remission really means. I guess you actually feel like a normal human being for a change. I also have no clue on how long it can last for. In your case i hope a long time. I do hope someone else will post an answer because it is something i would be interested in knowing more about. Sorry I am not much help.
1444860 tn?1284421541 Our fibromyalgia pain has gotten so much better since we have been in treatment for lyme disease. Being in the army means you do a lot of work outside in all kinds of vegetation. You don't have to have a bullseye rash and getting a negative test result does not mean you don't have it. The testing for lyme disease is very poor. I should know because I had 4 tests and they all came back negative.
Avatar n tn Fibromyalgia is not auto-immune. It's a set of symptoms, for which there is no explanation and which often are alleviated when one is on adequate thyroid hormones. I agree that your current labs, with reference ranges would greatly help us better assess your situation.
Avatar m tn My mother is currently diagnosed with T-cell Lymphoma and my father is 1 year in remission of CLL (Leukemia) I have had to take care of both of them and so you can imagine my concern for this blood work that I had done recently because of some unpleasant symptoms of aches, malaise and fatigue. WBC- 3.4 RBC-3.7 Hemoglobin-8.3 low Hematacrit-26.7 low MCV-71.2 low MCH-22.1 low MCHC-31.1 low RDW-18.5 high Lymphs- 53 high Neutrophils absolute-1.

Avatar f tn How long can a woman be in remission for Ovarian Cancer I had total hysterectomy in 1994 and am having pain in the same area that I did when diagnosed.
1564938 tn?1295220228 Having Degenerative Disc Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis and fibromyalgia, I will try to answer your question. My RA is in my joints only. Fibro is all over discomfort. If you have pressure points where it REALLY hurts when you press on it, like back of your neck, your shoulders, then you could have fibromyalgia. See a Rheumatologist to really get answers. Lyrica has been my saving grace! Nothing takes away all the pain, but that and elavil at night really really help me.
Avatar n tn I just wanted to let the world know that my mom was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in sept. 2008.She just had a pet scan and it came up clean. It showed my mom is already in remission. What a blessing for her and our family for now!
Avatar f tn There were days(2-3 in a row) where my symptoms acted up in a worse fashion. But, for the most part, I was feeling pretty "normal". I believe that forcing myself to lightly excercise was a big help; if you're able.
Avatar m tn What does remission/recovery mean in terms of anxiety? I was diagnosed with anxiety in January, and my symptoms have improved. My worry is no longer excessive, but I still have irritability and feeling on edge. Would that mean I still have anxiety?
Avatar n tn My granddaughter was diagnosed 4 years ago. She will be 11 in November. For the past few days her sugar has been low. She is having a hard time bringing it back up. Even when she suspends her pump for hours her sugar stays 70-80 and she still feels low. She also has been able to control her sugar this summer with just physical activity. Is it possible for her to go into remission or honeymoon period?
Avatar n tn To date my wife has been diagnosed with Fibromyalga, CFS & Bipolar. Recently she has started collapsing for no reason. Her legs just give way - in her words "turn to jelly", and she has began to drop things also for no reason. The effect is only for a second or so, but enough time for her to be on the floor, or down the stair case etc. Any thoughts? Nb her mother had Myasthenia gravis. However nerve tests 7 years ago (when she was aged 32) showed no signs.
Avatar f tn Somewhere in this multitude of posts, I thought I read that you were in remission. And yet, you have symptoms. I'm confused then. How can you have symptoms if you're in remission (or did I get this wrong?) Also, saw your pictures, may I compliment you on your gorgeous embroidery; you have a remarkable talent!
1150481 tn?1270490136 I was wondering if it goes to remission in the 2ww itself.
