Avatar n tn Hi, I had a total hysterectomy on April 20 (3 months ago). I had my uterus, ovaries, cervix and tubes removed due to fibroids, ovarian cysts, and endometrosis (found during the operation). I also scheduled a urologist to come in after the hysterectomy and perform a bladder suspension. I'm 55 years old and prior to surgery I had not stopped bleeding on a regular basis, so the hysterectomy was my "menopause".
Avatar n tn there is a wonderful fairly new product that many of us use and like its called the vivelle dot its an estrogen patch thats applied to the lower abdomen 2 or 3 times per week easy to use . I dont think you really need a baseline of what her hormones where prior to surgery there is a normal range that is standard for all women ...bioidentical is 4 sure the way to go..
Avatar f tn carol I use the Vivelle ( estrogen only ) patch so far really happy with it, It seems that I have noticed many women need estrogen only,,,,at first then after x amount of years need testosterone also, who knows maybe I need it now, but I am asymptomatic so I choose not to treat it. I personally dont advise anyone to use anything but bio-identical hormones. Many doctors go by a womans description of how she feels, if your having doubts do by all means request a hormone test, simple blood test.
Avatar n tn Does anyone happen to know if there has been a connection with too much estrogen causing more neuropathy pain?? Anyone experience the onset of neuropathy after a hysterectomy? I would appreciate any info.
709441 tn?1233340088 I am not a doctor, just someone who has been on Bioidentical hormones since 2000 after my Hysterectomy (radical). I, too, started that very day on an estrogen patch. I use Vivelle Estradiol... climara is good, too. Newer research indicates that Estradiol (the kind of estrogen we had pumping through us in our 20's) is the only way to go. The book I mentioned a thousand times has been the most helpful to me. "Screaming to be Heard" by Dr.
Avatar f tn Do fat cells secrete estrogen? Do I even need estrogen replacement? I used a bioidentical progesterone cream in the past. I was on Yaz birth control before the surgery. Without that I was practically psychotic.I am more miserable now than before surgery. I cry A LOT. My family is sick of me and I am sick of me. My doctor doesn't explain things. Will excercise/supplements etc be enough?Where can I turn for info?
Avatar f tn I have found that the estrogen Estradiol is THE estrogen to use and I cannot tell you how much this product has helped me. As Sheri mentioned, the Vivelle Dot is great... it is a bioidentical estrogen and it is all estradiol. If you don't supplement with this chances are great that weight gain around your 'middle' will happen or continue since the body is trying to make estrogen for you when levels are low or flucuating.
Avatar f tn s own nerve supply as well as hormones so it does not matter if you use HRT or not...also many of the foods we eat become estrogen in the body so if endo is left behind it will grow...the key is to see a specialist and have the endometriosis cut out at the root...that is the only chance at curing this disease! I too have endo and had the complete hysterectomy which I so regret, I had no choice but to use hrt...because of my age and the risks of not being on them...
659607 tn?1247116266 What do you mean about the use in your arm and hand being back....loosing that is never related to a hysterectomy..How much does your weight jump up and down are we talking 5 lbs or more,.? Im really going to advise you to visit your gyn ASAP...the bloating may be related to prior hyster,,if it is your doc will know...or you may have developed a totally new problem perhaps with the gastro-intestinal system... Please let me know what your doctor says..
Avatar f tn One of the benefits of soy is that it breaks down to a type of estrogen substitute. I have never taken estrogen replacement and my levels have always been great. Try a few soy products (ice cream, appetizers, supplements) and see if you feel better. Also, have you MD test your glucose levels. Both higher and lower levels will make you sweat!!
973741 tn?1342342773 I was on estrogen replacement for years after my hysterectomy. I had few concerns about taking it, since I was young when I had my ovaries removed, and the benefits outweighed the risks. I'm not on it now, but am thinking about going back on it. The hot flashes are a killer, and I won't even go into the vaginal dryness.
Avatar n tn What type of hormones are you taking? Are you on Premarin? Or on any other synthetic hormones? Or on the vaginal ring? or the Vivelle patch? Estratest? Bioidentical Progesterone? And, what about testosterone, either gel or cream, which we women can use "off-label" but some formulas can be put on the cliteral/genital area and work wonders regarding the issue you mentioned.
Avatar n tn It's amazing you didn't have symptoms way before this. I was a complete basket case very quickly after my hysterectomy at age 49. I'm not sure I could function without estrogen. Did / do you by any chance have endometriosis? Or was one or part of one ovary possibly left? If not, then your adrenal and thyroid glands must have been picking up the slack and just cannot do it any more.
Avatar m tn The surgery did provide pain relief from the painful periods, and constant fibroids, but 9 days after my surgery I started with a major depression that has not gone away. After having my bloodwork taken, my thyroid was hypo active and that was corrected. My estrogen was found to be at 0 which meant I was in menopause and we did not figure that out until at least 6 months after the surgery. The depression has been very bad.
Avatar f tn Sometimes women need to have the size of the pessary adjusted after long term use (typically to a smaller pessary) but that is after a few years of use. Biggest concern is irritation causing ulcers but this does not occur in all women. If you are on estrogen replacement therapy, it will help the internal and external tissues maintain strong, pliable integrity. If you have difficulty with vaginal irritation you should ask your physician about vaginal estrogen therapy.
1143127 tn?1406726153 am 62 years old, relatively healthy and active. I had a complete hysterectomy, with removal of ovaries, and a rectocele in 1997 due to prolapsed uterus. For the last two or three years, I have had vaginal soreness that is right inside of the bottom of my vagina. I also have had burning in that area as well as the opening, but this is not constant. This is causing a great deal of frustration for my husband and me. I cannot have sexual intercourse anymore.
Avatar n tn Hello, my wife had a full hysterectomy approximately 10 years ago and everything was taken out, EVERYTHING. She had a few cysts and her gynecologist suggested a full hysterectomy due to the fact that the cysts could come back if she were to get a a half hysterectomy. Long story short, she's a strong woman who really keeps it together but she has recently expressed that she's been battling depression.
Avatar f tn Your back and rib cage pain (and possibly leg pain) could be an indication of bone loss which can occur fairly rapidly after the ovaries are removed (or shut down after hysterectomy). But hysterectomy (uterus removal) even when ovaries are not removed destroys pelvic integrity since the ligaments that hold the uterus in place are the support structures for the torso.
1074733 tn?1256231619 If the hormone panel came back saying I was low estrogen, then I would use the cream. My panel came back normal, with my estrogen level being close to high still. He was surprised and agreed that I did not need the estrogen. 11 years after my hysterectomy (and removal of one ovary one year later)...I am still endometriosis free. I am having other health problems that sent me to the ER last week thinking I was having a heart attack.
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy Jan.08'. Two weeks after my hysterectomy a painful lump showed up in my breast next to the nipple. It was painful and swelled up to the point where I could see it without touching it. It was very sensitive. However, it went away after 1 1/2 weeks. I am now on an all natural hrt that has done wonders for me without all the dangerous side affects of clinical hrts. What I am wondering is, should I be worried, what could have been the cause?
Avatar n tn Prior to the surgery, I suffered with migraines and they were significantly reduced with the use of estrogen. Since stopping the estrogen, I have been getting severe frequent migraines. Should I go back on estrogen?
Avatar f tn hi when my husband and i have sex i must use ky jelly first because im very dry, after we have had sex i am very, very sore. it is after i have had a lower hysterectomy. please help what can i do.
Avatar f tn I only had a hysterectomy not a full hysterectomy. The doctor removed all the endo on my ovaries and left them. After the surgery I asked him if that was it or if I would get them back and he said that I could get the endo back in 5 years because the ovaries is what produces them. He also had to tack up my bladder which I ended up with a major bladder infection that took months to go away. My bladder fell again about two months after the surgery. I guess my questions for you to is.
Avatar n tn Has anyone experienced highly elevated FSH many years after "total hysterectomy" and no hormone replacement therapy?
Avatar m tn I have tinkered with Prometrium and testosterone cream. I have read mixed results about progesterone after hysterectomy. The testosterone cream, I thought, was causing acne. I NEVER have acne, so I stopped taking that. I noticed other issues going on and my regular doctor said it was due to the V-dot patch. My gyno did blood work and it came back low thyroid. I am scheduled to see the Endocrinologist on Monday. I have, since, been taking Synthroid for the thyroid issues.
Avatar f tn I had a lumpectomy, radiation, chemotherapy and a complete hysterectomy (ovaries too). I am doing very well. Is it save to use a vaginal estrogen insert? I am only 48 years old and married. We have tried everything OTC. This is difficult for me and for my husband. My doctor said he does not know if it is safe or not????? Thank You.
