Avatar n tn ve suffered from extreme hot flashes to the point where I was on a snowing mountain and had to strip off to a singlet. It happens daily, Is this normal- or a side affect from my period?
Avatar f tn My doc mentioned estrogen too, if my hot flashes were too much but I declined. The hot flashes actually went away for about 6 - 8 months and I thought maybe it was a change of climate and also I did some online reading and found that some women say some foods, like spicy foods might trigger hot flashes so I limited my diet. They're back now though and I'm not sure why except I am back to eating more variety in foods, even spicy foods.
Avatar m tn If you try a testosterone trial and still have hot flashes, then it could be estrogen that is leaving your system. Not that men have very much estrogen, but I've read that they do have a little, the same way women have some testosterone. If you want to try estrogen, after giving the testosterone a trial and if you find it does nothing, call the same doc who prescribed the testosterone and tell him that it's not doing anything, and ask about getting an estrogen prescription.

Avatar f tn You asked about hot flashes and B6 toxicity. All I can tell you is I started having hot flashes and B6 symptoms the very same month I went into menopause. It was like my body chemistry changed and I could no longer metabolize the B6. My hot flashes have subsided now with the help of taking herbs prescribed by a dr of oriental medicine and accupuncture. Like you I tried conventional methods to reduce my hot flashed but nothing helped until I found a licensed dr of oriental medicine.

I developed numerous breast lumps went to MDA and found only cyst caused by the estrogen. The MD there said my hot flashes were not menopause they were from the thyroid.
Avatar n tn Many women suffer from hot flashes caused by these medications but can find some relief when they avoid hot and spicy foods, caffeinated drinks, alcohol and smoking and having lots of fans in the house...LOL. I hope that your wife will soon consult with her Oncologist and see what can be done to relieve her discomfort. All the best to both of you...
Avatar n tn I think the most common symptom of low estrogen is hot flashes. If you're not having those, you might be OK on the amount of estrogen. Try what the gyn says and if it doesn't work, get your dose tweaked.

Avatar n tn I have mild hot flashes here and then at 39. Is there anything I can take to reduce the hot flashes. Is it safe to eat soybeans ? I'm afraid regular meat and dairy have hormones which might have harm. Do I have to go completely organic or vegetarian ?
Avatar f tn I have been on estrogen replacement since my surgery in 1998. I still have moderate-severe hot flashes and they seem to be getting more intense with age. I switched from oral Premarin which covered me pretty well but I didn't want to be taking pills the rest of my life. Since then I have tried a variety of patches that are really not very effective on a regular basis and very expensive. At my age, what do you recommend. Is Premarin dangerous (risk of DVT).
Avatar f tn I had my hystercomy 12/2006....I have had hot flashes, night sweats, and mood swings almost every night before and after my hystercomy. My mother-in-law told me that I did not have a total hystercomy if I am still having night sweats, hot flashes, mood swings, and etc..... my question is.....Am I going crazy or is it normal to have those systoms?
Avatar f tn And I do always worry about Breast Cancer links and supplemental hormones including and especially estrogen. There are some otc products that might help you better for hot flashes. This is all just my opinion.
1219580 tn?1297218139 Hot flashes are common in pregnancy. It seems like no two people have the exact same symptoms, but you'll find that one in all the pregnancy books. I've been pregnant 4 times and each time I got hot flashes before I even knew I was pg. Congrats.
Avatar f tn I am healthy, exercise regularly, do not smoke, drink in moderation, eat as natural as is possible and take vitamin supplements. I had a hysterectomy 8/2009 due to prolapse. Recently, the past 2 or 3 years, my hot flashes have become so violent I was forced to go on estrogen (without progesterone) pills. Besides profuse sweating my heartbeat would accelerate to 130-150 beats per minute (I am normally 70 beats per minute) and I would become extremely lightheaded, dizzy and nauseous.
Avatar f tn I had a FULL hysterectomy 6 weeks ago. I was put on HRT. I stopped taking it without doctor knowing about 2 weeks ago because of the horrible headaches. I feel fine without it and definitely don't have the headaches. I'm 42, my sex drive is fine and I have a had a couple of hot flashes but nothing crazy. What happens if I stay off of the HRT?
Avatar n tn I also use an estrogen cream vaginally but it really never has helped the hot flashes just the tissue; I am hopeful this will improve my mood, decrease hot flashes and help me sleep; has it helped others? How long do I wait before I see results?
Avatar n tn 7 months ago I started having hot flashes which have become almost unbearable now. One of the hot flashes lasted in excess of 3 hours and left me completely drained of energy. For the past 5 months I have been on a tablet Angeliq and although the hot flashes are less, they still occur at the most inconvenient times. The doctor recently advised me to add a Premarin tablet (the green one, small dose) to the Angeliq and I now have one or two hot flashes every day.
Avatar n tn My cylce has stopped a year ago, but i stil get night sweats and hot flashes, is that normal
Avatar f tn Started having sever hot-flashes so my doctor put me on the Vivelle Dot. It took care of the hot-flashes but caused me to gain 10 pounds in a 6 week period. My doc said the weight gain was from menopause. Well, I took the patch off 2 weeks ago and threw it away, and I have now lost 6 of those pounds and feel much better. I think it was causing depressiont too. I have been on bio-identical hormones for a few years - progesterone cream and DHA cream - and have done fine.
279234 tn?1363105249 Hi, I'm 37 and I've had a whole list of complications when it came to female issues. I had a partial hysterectomy in 2006 due to a prolapsed uterus. In 2008, I develop a hemorrhagic cyst on my left ovary. It grew to the size of a grape fruit and relocated to where my uterus use to be, attached itself to my abdominal wall, bladder, and bowel.
Avatar f tn Hot flashes seem to be caused by extremes of the hormone levels--particularly estrogen. When estrogen levels are low, as in menopause, women experience hot flushes and when the levels are high as in pregnancy women have hot flushes.
16702 tn?1234090645 Kimchi, if we need to avoid estrogen, then I am not sure if this is good, especially for anyone who's cancer is estrogen receptor positive. I have heard that they should avoid all estrogen and even nautral. Remember all the talk we did about Oestrogens and parabens etc.? I think this would be included in that. Hope all is well with you! Don't see you on the board as much since it has changed.
Avatar f tn I feel better cold temp wise because I am no longer using my heater as much and I actually go to bed with warm feet, problem is I still have the same hot flashes I had before but they are now hotter. My tests show I have low estrogen (also taking birth control pill), decreased cortisol in the morning and increased at night and elevated DHEA. I'm just baffled as to why I am sweating so much. Should I get treated for the estrogen or should they level out once my thyroid is fixed?
