My doctor recently put me on a combination of drugs for PEP, the drugs are lamzid and efavirenz and have very serious side effects. My exposure was licking/sucking a nipple of a non-pregnant HIV positive person. No milk came or blood came out but just had an after taste in my mouth. The act was for 2-3 seconds. What are my chances of getting HIV and are the reported cases of infection in adults, cause I know with babies you can.
The active ingredients of you will are tenofovir, emtricitabine and efavirenz. I am on day two of the Meds. The first night the side effects of dizziness were extremely severe. It was hard to walk. I found myself having a panic attack until I finally just went to sleep. When I woke up I was rather fine and did not feel dizzy. The dizziness went away by today, day 5, but my lower back is in SEVERE pain.
My question:
1) Do these side effects ware off as the course goes on? Will it get easier?
I have 20 years and I have HIV positive person. I drink medicines already 4 months. I use drugs Truvada and Efavirenz Teva. Please tell me how to code your disease treated? Whether you are at injection instead of pills?

Since that time, he is receiving HAART with lamivudine-zidovudine-efavirenz twice daily, but he told me that there are some days ( at maximun 3) that he does not take the pills, but most days of the month he is adhering to the treatment. His current viral load is 39,000 copies/ml.

usually PEP is prescribed for people who had unprotected sex with a confirmed HIV+ person since it has many side effects on body.so you should see a specialist or post ur question on expert forum as soon as possible because PEP is not effective more then 72 hours post exposure.
ARS symptoms happen 10-20 days (2 to 4 weeks)after possible exposure and will last for 1-2weeks .all infected persons will not experience them but about 70-80% will do.
m now under retro-viral treatment (Abacavir, 3TC Lamiduvina, and Efavirenz TM as known in my country), healthy, fit, high CD4 count, undetectable viral load. Many AD's have side effects that affect the libido, guess it applies to both sex es. As far as I know all AD's have this drastic effect . Hopefully you'll find one that's OK for you . Good luck.
Yes, I've only been on it a week and I experience the muscle aches and bilateral flank pain as well. In addition, insomnia!

Hi. I am on week 60/72, second round of treatment. I was really really sick after shot for first few months and then this resolved and became tolerable at least. I now find that I am having these same significant side effects later in tx. This didn't happen last round, but I went 48 then. Anyone else have this happen?
Cancer removed May 22, 2007, chemo July 2nd through October 8, 2007, and radiation on left breast November 2nd through December 26, 2008. Side effect from Taxol perminent numb toes, side effects so far from Tamoxifen body temperature changes of warmth then cold. The web page sites and telephone numbers did not have this information.
I have been prescribed Acebutolol for PVC's and I am literally exhausted since beginning this medication but I didn't see that as one of the side effects. Also, my vision is blurred. Is this normal?

Thank you for writing to us here, though I am sorry that you are struggling with side effects from the result of breast cancer medication.
I am also a breast cancer survivor, however as I am triple negative, the hormonal drugs are not effective for me so unfortunately I cant speak from experience.
However, that doesn't mean that I cant find out some interesting information for you in relation to libido and Arimidex.
Has anybody gotten a stuffy head and "funny feeling" eyes as a side effect from SSRI's. I have had these side effects before but they went away after a month or so. I'm on Celexa and this stuffy feeling(like you are coming down with a cold) seems to be sticking with me. The med is working well except for this uncomfortable feeling in and around my eyes.
