Avatar m tn vh1.com has some videos of previous "celebrity rehab" and "sober house" episodes that are pretty good. And you could probably find "intervention" videos by googling "intervention watch online free" - there seem to be a lot more websites these days for free online shows. Good luck to you!
5263096 tn?1374273724 Do any of you watch the TV show on A&E called Intervention? I was watching it for a bit because it's about addiction and I thought it would be educational. Although it's very entertaining and I do like the show I have found it kinda makes me crave pills. I have no idea why because it's not like they glorify addiction by any means on the show. Have any of you watched it and felt that way?
781991 tn?1237964779 They find the addict and tell them they want to document their addiction. Little do they know, they will actually face an Intervention. They get those closest to the addict involved like family and friends. The show the addict actually using their substance of choice. They show everything. How the addicts get money to support their habits like panhandling or even prostitution.
1830012 tn?1336520993 As i watch the show Intervention it so means more now after being sober. I've always wanted the best for those on the show but now i'am screaming to my tv "yes go u *******" no matter what the addiction is. My addiction has been to hydro & even though 4 weeks ago i would of said " it hasn't changed me ( my 8-10 of 10mg a day) i truly didn't know how much it did until now after being sober 25 days.
1401949 tn?1296043724 What my question is is how do you do an intervention?? What is the best method and how do I aproach the subject. I know she has to go on her own, but it is out of control and I am trying to figure out a way to push her possibly over the edge? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and God Bless!
Avatar f tn Can't my family see that I need this! I would love to walk in a room and see my husband, mom, dad, brothers, mother in law, brother in laws, sister in laws, with ther arms open to me, saying they will help me. My mom has told my brothers of my addiction, so I guess thats why they won't see me, you think it would be the other way around. I love them and their families so much. I feel like such an outcast. I guess it's not their responseability.
Avatar m tn Anyone watching Intervention on A&E now? You should see it, is about a woman who is addicted to prescribed drugs.
Avatar n tn I think you could benefit from some al-anon meetings, they will help you understand your daughters problem, and you will learn ways to cope and deal with it. Im not sure if your ready for an intervention until you understand the depth of her addiction, and that addiction is a real disease, not just a term we use to justifie using. You can look up al-anon in your area, or talk to your church if you have one.
Avatar m tn E Intervention. It helped me a lot in my early days of recovery and i still watch it the odd time, I am going to tonight. Sometimes it's hard to watch as reality sets in, but it helps me to see. This is a link for the show on tonight at 9pm est. Check it out, i am sure some of it will hit home. How many here watch this show? http://www.aetv.com/intervention/int_episode_guide.
Avatar f tn Drinking when you have hep C is like pouring gasoline on a fire. Plus she would not be eligible for a transplant, at least not here in the US. I'm not sure of the rules in New Zealand. How you help her is to first help her with her addiction. You don't state what drugs she's using but drinking, drug addiction and hep C sounds sounds like a fast ride downhill.
1643958 tn?1301004655 m basically asking if this is a definite drug addiction, even though she is prescribed the pills each month? And also how to get through to her that she needs help?
435985 tn?1249067908 I really think that my brother believes that he does not have a drug addiction. I think he thinks that he has other problems and the drugs are there and make him feel better, but that he is not addicted. So Im just wondering when a person realizes they have an addiction and when they accept help. Thanks!!

Avatar f tn She is an amazing person who is succeeding in beating her addiction (Food). Even though she has a food addiction which is not the same as ours, addiction is addiction and she was at her bottom (700 pounds!). She has slowly and healthily (diet and exercise only - no surgeries) taken off hundreds of pounds. She works a 12 step program to deal with her addiction. She is beating it one day at a time. Check it out if you havent. Sometimes you find inspiration in the weirdest places.
Avatar f tn My daughter is now almost 11 months clean....Can u give us more information, how much, what was his DOC ( drug of choice) and for how long?

Avatar m tn You will soon know how badly he is addicted..... once you notice monies missing from your bank account, when he becomes very withdrawn, avoiding friends and family, his eye pupils are like pin points, irrational mood swings, these are a few of the symptoms I went thru with my daughter. How did he get the oxy? Was he prescribed, or buy off the street?
Avatar m tn well i came clean about my addiction to pills and i am so fortunate to have family that still loves me, even though i have been a A$$ to live with. so to make this story short as possible thursday night my sisiter who has over three years clean looked on the internet for hours to see where i could get in.
377493 tn?1356502149 My concern with counting on parents to take care of this required early intervention with FAS and drug addicted children is that they are often so caught up in their own addiction, the child does not get the attention and extra care needed. They are often lax in even taking these kids to the different programs. That is where I feel someone has to intervene on that childs behalf. I don't think these parents are horrid people, I think they are sick.
565890 tn?1218825587 It is a heartbreaking thing to live in lies and deceit .This is what drug addiction does. As much as you love your girlfriend there is nothing you can do to change this, you have to decide what your willing to live with and what you can't. Then let her know. In a calm manner try and reach out to her and tell her what you have learned about addiction to vicodin. The key is does she want help?
Avatar f tn There is a good episode on now about a man with a morphine addiction. He started his addiction like most of us did with a Dr's Rx. His case he broke his back at work.
Avatar m tn I have been reading posts here now since 2007 (forgot my 1st login name, had to come up with another). I have been wondering, for all the terrible, sad, and suffering people on here, has anyone ever tried to get onto the show "intervention" with the idea of showing what going to legitimate doctors for pain control, have their doctor decide for whatever reason to discharge (usually afraid of dea) and how quickly life can become unbearable?
Avatar n tn confront them explain alcohol and drug are the same thing if he abused alcohol and he is willing to get them by "any means necessary" that sure sounds like there is a problem .
