Common Questions and Answers about Does aldara work

aldara

Avatar m tn Just started a treatment of Aldara today. I always seem to have a few small genital warts on me. Does anyone know what I can expect. I am 31 and healthy in every way. I have been receiving cryotherapy for 3 years and they always come back. I was told that Aldara will help get my immune system involved in fighting the virus so I will have a better chance of losing the warts. Has anyone out there used thus treatment ?
Avatar f tn So I found out last week that I have HPV (low-risk with genital warts). I'm really depressed, it feels like its the end of the world! My whole life I have practiced safe sex (except with my bf who I've been with for 2 years) and I have gotten yearly pap tests that came out normal. I really thought I was a healthy person until these bumps showed up! The doctor prescribed me Aldara cream and I just started using it last week, she said it can take up to 8-16 weeks for the warts to go away.
Avatar m tn Hello Gusty, I would recomend getting Aldara or something simular to it. It takes time to work so be patient. If you have a lot you should get them froze, once they fall off start treating that area with aldara. If that isnt working, get them cut off, then treat with aldara. your skin takes 45 days to surface, so it just takes time. Here is where im at.... I was in the same boat as you 1 year ago. I didnt get it taken care of and it spread EVERYWHERE.
Avatar m tn Since it seems to result from shaving irritation, is it possible that this re-occurance is not from HPV, but just scar tissue from the previous treatment or some type of reaction? I ask because the Aldara cream does not seem to have any effect on the bumps themselves after 4 weeks of use, beyond irritating & darkening the adjacent skin where the buttocks meet. 2.
Avatar n tn I have had genital warts for 5 years now and ive been using aldara for quite some time. aldara seems to work pretty well for the most part. while using aldara frequeantly i would experience some side effects like some pain or swelling after using it for a long period of time. i would stop the use and the redness/ swelling would go away and i would contine use and everything would be okay.
Avatar m tn If I have your attention I'm assuming you have used Aldara or are planning on using it. I was finally prescribed Aldara after a few nitro treatments (some say it doesnt hurt, but I say it hurts horriblely). I have only used it for three applications and I have seen zero effects - as if I had never started using it. I have read that Aldara doesn't work for everyone, especially males... but I would like to know if anybody has had any success stories without unpleasent side effects?
Avatar m tn my mother 75 years used Aldara on a carcinome, after 2 weeks she feels very side effect including convulsions.she died. What i can tell is that before using Aldara she feels very well. Maybee Aldara works for some people, but for the other it could be really dangerous .
Avatar n tn 1 out of every 3 of us has hpv - it's very common! usually once warts have disappeared , if they haven't returned in a few months, they are gone for good for you. Some folks will be unlucky enough to get a few recurrences or the aldara won't work for them but in general they go away within a few months. odds are you got this from your finance unless you've recently had another partner. really no worries about transmission if you've been together at least 6 months or more.
Avatar f tn I would ultimately suggest you go to the nearest womans clinic, or if that's not available, see your physician. In the beginning I spent 100's of dollars on the acid burning procedure, and it didn't work. Then the cream was the next best thing, but if tha's not working, maybe freezing it?
Avatar n tn I have recently been using Aldara cream to try and eliminate my genital warts (HPV). Although the warts minimised in size after three months my doctor told me to stop using aldara because of the ineffectiveness and incredible sores and lesions that i endured whilst treatment. He reccomended me to a dermatologist for the treatment of the HPV.
Avatar n tn t the first breakout painful and severe and with blisters and other symptoms in *most* cases? Given all this, what are the chances this is herpes? Also, does Aldara trigger an outbreak of herpes, if it is herpes? It seems more than a coincidence that it should happen when I was using Aldara. Please let me know. Thanks!
Avatar n tn What was horrible about the aldara? is cryo precise enought to get very tiny areas without affecting unaffected areas? Does it leave a scar?
Avatar m tn dont use aldara. I think ACV even does better than aldara although some people here would disagree with my opinion. You can get mini surgery like electrocauterization, cryotherapy, or use podofin and its variants. These three, afaik, are better than anything else to treat warts.
Avatar m tn I dont know if anyone saw my post last nite, but need to know if there is anything I can do myself to get rid of them, like freeze off from pharmacy? aldara didnt work. cant find my question from last nite, not sure if I even know how to use this site...
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Aldara by my gynecologist for a recurrent bout of genital warts in the vulva area that I've also received TCA treatment for. I started applying the Aldara last week and must have applied too liberally and/or left on too long. After only 2 treatments had severe flu-like symptoms, swelling, burning, painful urination, and worsening pain. Had to call gynecologist over weekend and she recommended I come in today if pain had gotten worse.
Avatar m tn 1, does the cream cause a bit of itch even when it's been washed off or just when it's on? 2. i noticed what lookes like a "cut" near the perinem .around the anal opening..sort of like a small sore.. is that a side effect of the cream?

Avatar f tn hi, i like to now how i can clean mi vagina from this condition call vestibular papilae. i dont like how look, and i fel so depress. pls i use aldara but dont work for.. pls help...
Avatar f tn Now my gyn is telling me that, in order to get rid of any other traces of hpv, we should apply Aldara cream on the cervix. I am having serious doubts about this procedure and I would be most grateful if you gave me a specialized advice: is it ok to use it? Can it actually heal hpv? Thank you in advance for your answers!
Avatar n tn Honestly, aldara cream does require long treatment. Sometimes as long as 16 weeks. Who wants to wait around for that, when it may not even work in the end. If you want quick results ask your gyno to give you TCA acid. It burns like a ***** at first but within the week the wart will likely fall off. Just a thought... if you dont want to wait four months to rid yourself of the problem. No having sex with a condom doesnt hurt anything. I'm assuming you are doing it to protect him....
Avatar m tn 1. My dermatologist told me to apply the aldara liberally to make sure that even the tiniest warts in the area are treated. I have read elsewhere to only apply to the warts, but i have also read that aldara seems to respect healthy skin and only attacks unhealthy skin. Which is true and should i continue applying the aldara liberally to the entire areas. 2. The areas that have crusted and flaked are red and raw. Do i continue putting the aldara on those regions or should i stop?
Avatar n tn I was prescribed aldara for the treatment of genital warts about two weeks ago and have used it as directed by my provider. The patch of lesions is located on the shaft of my penis, are small, relatively flat, and 1-2 cm in size. I started aldara therapy roughly two to three weeks after onset of lesions. My only concern is that the Aldera isn't triggering an immune response like it should. I have no erythema, edema or any other typical "side effects".
