Avatar n tn He is sedentary, plays computer and video games all the time. I checked his blood sugar, it was 96 in the morning. I am concerned as he CRAVES sweets, is always hungry and when he uriniates it looks like the foam on a head of beer. Do I ask his doctor to investigate or am I being too cautious??
Avatar f tn what are the signs of type 2?
Avatar f tn Hi i have a son who is insulin dep diabetic...the signs of diabetes before diagnosis for him was extreme thirst eating alot , using toilet alot and changes in his mood or acting out of character. I do not think that you having diabetes in pregnancy would have any bearing on your son but if you are worried see your dr....good luck take care.....
Avatar f tn In many instances, diabetes (especially in its early stages) has no signs at all. When blood sugar levels are very high, it may cause frequent urination, excessive thirst, slow-healing wounds, reduced energy, and changes in vision. Best to see your physician and ask for labwork to see if you truly have diabetes or its precursor, called prediabetes.
Avatar n tn Those symptoms sound a lot more like growing pains than anything. My daughter went through the same things, where she had pains in her knees and shins so bad that she had problems sleeping. My best guess is that is what she is experiencing as well. They should subside, though, as her growth slows down.
15695260 tn?1549593113 Researchers in Germany (however patients were from all over the world in their research) have found that routine blood tests can predict if children with a genetic tie to diabetes will actually develop Type 1 diabetes. They found that if a child has two or more autoantibodies, it's nearly inevitable that they will develop the disease. The research followed participants for 15 years and tested children when they were very young.
Avatar f tn In Type 1 diabetes the signs and symptoms are usually very obvious and develop very quickly, typically over a few weeks. The symptoms are quickly relieved once the diabetes is treated and under control. In Type 2 diabetes the signs and symptoms may not be so obvious, as the condition develops slowly over a period of years and may only be picked up in a routine medical check up. Symptoms are quickly relieved once diabetes is treated and under control.
775732 tn?1246125144 You are exactly right, those are signs of hyperthyroid disease and diabetes. These conditions are more likely in cats that are over 7 yrs old. Both of these conditions are very treatable and your kitty should be fine!
Avatar n tn Is this normal for kids to drink 5-8 bottles of liquid during the day or could this be a symptom of diabetes? Are there any other signs I should be looking for with this excessive thirst?
Avatar f tn Its one of the major signs of diabetes. Im a diabetic and 7 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. I lost my first pregnancy at 14 weeks due to my uncontrolled diabetes. Dont mean to freak you out but u should definitely check it out immediately.
Avatar f tn Or set up an appointment to see a neurologist., but not with an regular MD who in most cases know next to nothing about diabetes.
Avatar f tn Hallo, try the ring,it is something great, has lots of advantages and not as many (or practically no) side effects on the diabetes in comparison to the other contraceptives. You need to think only twice a month about it, you do not feel it at all and I think it is the best contraceptive discovered until now.I use it for about 5-6 Months and have Diabetes type 1 for 13 yrs. It is also said to be as safe as the pills. Just ask your doctor or search for information in the web.
Avatar n tn There are some studies that say if you breastfeed, there is something in the breast milk that protects the child from that higher predisposition to getting diabetes. That means breastfed kids who have diabetic moms have the same chance of getting diabetes as normal kids instead of that higher chance without the breast feeding. Good night and good luck.
Avatar n tn Currently she complains of body pains which is on and off in an interval of 2 weeks. She also complains of severe pains in the feet which causes her sleeplessness in the night. What could be the cause? How can we treat it?
Avatar n tn As for the meds, I am sure that the meds taken just in case do work, you and your doctor have to find the right ones for you. I have had some horrible reactions to many blood pressure meds which were not only to lower my pressure but also to protect my kidneys. I am sure without the meds I would be waiting for a kidney. The nephrologist told me that I only had 1-2 years before I would need a transplant.
4141598 tn?1353918254 I got the call from my doctor today saying I have gestational diabetes & anemia. I've had anemia off & on all my life but the diabetes is new for me. The day before my test I had flu like symptoms, I threw up all morning, not normal for me with this pregnancy, I didn't eat anything but a small dinner that day. The next morning I had a half cup of coffee with international delight sweeter & an apple then did my blood test.
Avatar f tn Hi there.. I'm sure if you have MS and kids... you would worry about all the symptoms that they say they feel... how old are your kids? I would keep it in my mind and when or if it continues.. it matters how old they are too.. but keep it in mind and let the family dr know..

Avatar f tn The results once again read the glucose level of 115 which was high since the range used was 65-99. No one in my family has diabetes. I will see my pcp in a few days. Should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn No children 12 and under are allowed in the room while you deliver and cannot visit until you are in the maternity room.
Avatar n tn I have adopted a two year old son. He is a little short for his age but he is stalky. When we first got him about 6 months ago he would eat anything and everything you put in front of him. Now he has gotten to where he will hardly eat anything but he drinks constantly. It doesn't matter what you give him to drink he will drink all of it and instantly want more. When he is drinking he drink he doesn't just drink it he downs almost the entire drink before sitting it down.
5536886 tn?1455827346 Also burning fats instead of carbs is what produces keytones in the blood. Our son was just in keytoacidosis (which is how we got the diagnosis) so the possibility of adding more keytones is not something we will be trying to do.
Avatar f tn prediabetic range is 101-125 fasting and I believe 140-150 post prandial. Do you have a history in your family, child drink excessively or urinate frequently at night? Is there a reason you are checking blood sugars? Need to call pediatrician and might have an A1C test done.
Avatar m tn Only history which is of questionable accuracy in child of this age is that while playing rough with friends (basketball collision, kids tumbled to ground) he received a blow in the area of mons pubis. On exam there is in fact an area of skin round appx 1 cm diameter with slight discoloration which really could represent a healing blow to the skin, although whether this has to do with the case remains unclear. Eval at primary care office included completely normal dipstick urinalysis.
Avatar n tn I have a 3 year old. Lately she has been showing signs of diabetes. I took her to the doctor and she tested 180, but she had not ate in over 3 hours. That was about 2 months ago. She is still showing signs, frequent urination (and in a large amount), starved to death, cant get enough to drink, not gaining weight, and just really cranky and fussy. I was at my grandma's house earlier today and she tested my child's blood. It had been over 3 hours since she ate and her sugar was 213.
127529 tn?1331840780 Rather than just cancel I went to my appointment anyway to say thanks for their help, could I keep in touch etc. and it was as if the nurse was mad at me for passing the test. She scrutinised my blood sugar readings for the last month and because she found three that were ever so slightly about the required ranges ( like by 0.1) she said I had to come back in two weeks and refered me to the doctor (who I have never had to see before) because these three elevated readings raised a red flag.
