Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta and dizziness

cymbalta

I went off cymbalta in May '08.I had some moments of light-headedness,especially when laughing.Kinda nerve wracking.Hope this helps, also had short bouts of pain in different places and 3 weeks of the runs until the docs decided it was probably the cymbalta.my symptoms were 'contra-indicated'.....
Did your doc just tell you to stop the Effexor and start the Cymbalta? What dose of Effexor are you stopping at, and what dose of Cymbalta are you starting at? Some people have seamless transitions, while others report some symptoms of a discontinuation syndrome, like you mentioned above. Hopefully, you'll have a smooth transition. Definitely let us know how you're feeling.
he gave me 3 weeks of samples of cymbalta and said try these and see me in 2 weeks. everything i've read about cymbalta, is that it treats depression, and if fairly new on the drug market. i was disapointed because i figured the doctor would give me something on an as needed basis. why would he suggest cymbalta? will it work for anxiety/panic?
Hi Diane. I see that you must have ongoing balance issues, while on Cymbalta-for posting again. Cymbalta side effects which may pertain to this are: *Common - dizziness *Rare- orthostatic hypotension (specially at the start ) Cymbalta belongs to a class of drugs called Serotonin–norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) These drugs act as inhibitors of the reuptake (re-absorption) of the neurotransmitter Serotonin by the originating neuron.
Cymbalta 3 yrs ago I went thru treatment for opiate withdrawal after many years of self prescribed pain relief. I had to wait 24hrs and then I was put on suboxone for withdrawal and drug cravings and Cymbalta for pain management and depression. (I have been on antidepressants for 30yrs.) Anyway, this combination has been a miracle for me as my pain has been completely manageable with OTC if needed, have had no urge to use, nor any depression issues.
These medicines are thought to work by increasing the activity of chemicals called serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain. Where both Paxil and Cymbalta work on Serotonin the Cymbalta works on Norepinephrine which is the chemical that helps with pain sensation in the body. Since you had a problem with serotonin, just like I do, ask your doctor about Wellbutrin. This medicine focuses on Norepinephrine and dopamine which is an energy chemical.
I stop taking cymbalta about a week ago. Since then I have experienced headaches and nausea is this common? I was taking 60mgs for about a year for my fibromaylga.
I'm currently on 100 mg of Lamictal, but he doesn't want to increase that until I'm off the Cymbalta. It's my second day at a lower dose (30 mg to 20 mg) and I already can feel it! I really didn't expect to notice a difference with only 10 mg less. I just am anxious, on edge and overall blah feeling. Anyone else have this experience coming off?
It solved my rapid heart rate but recently my dizziness and lightheadedness and fuzzy vision have been worse. Do you think I am getting used to this drug? And after reasearaching on the web, why do I never see info about POTS and cymbalta?
I just began a Cymbalta (30mg/day) treatment regimen, and coincidently ran out of clonazepam one week later. Rather than wait in the ER for 4 hours to see a doc, I am waiting for my next scheduled psychiatric appointment for a refill. It's been two weeks now, and my appointment is in another 2 weeks. I was prescribed .5mg/X2/day (morning & night) of Clonazepam (along with Trazodone (150mg at bedtime) for insomnia.
can some1 tell me if extreme physical activity increases the dizziness and if i should take the cymbalta when i get home from school instead of l8er that night?

) My doctor also gave me some samples of Cymbalta 30mg. I have not yet started on it. My question is are they safe to take together? What about side affects? I do not like the dizziness and weird ear "sounds" that I am getting on the Clonazepam. Also, I am currently on medication for thyroid(Levothyroxin) as well as blood pressure(Cozaar), and Propoxypnen-APAP 100-650MG(for my spinal pain). Should I start on the Cymbalta? Will it interact with my other medication?
I am currently taking cymbalta, celexa, and lyrica and the only thing it does for me is make me tired......
Has any one heard of or experienced being on Cymbalta and/or Neurontin and where the side effects suddenly became MS like symptoms after being on them for a year?
I was recently on Cymbalta 60 mg daily, seemed to be tolerating it well, however, suddenly I began having falling spells, dizziness, memory loss, and total loss of bladder control. One day I forgot to take my Cymbalta and that day I no longer had a complete loss of balance. I went in to my doctor, he sent me for an MRI. I was diagnosed with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus. My Question is: Is it possible that the Cymbalta caused me to GET the NPH or did it just push it to the forefront?
dizziness, nausea, headache, paresthesia, fatigue, vomiting, irritability, insomnia, diarrhea, anxiety, and hyperhidrosis (increased sweating). Search Cymbalta PDR and Eli Lilly P.S. When my grandfather wanted to stop his Cymbalta (after being well informed of the Pros/Cons), I just sprinkled a tiny bit of the capsule into the trash and closed the capsule back up. Each week I sprinkled a little more into the trash. You MUST NOT swallow the tiny beads without the protective capsule coating !!!
I took Cymbalta for 4 yrs and finally just got off of it. While Cymbalta did help manage both my depression and muscle pain, the side effects were what i hated about it. I never had digestion problems from it, but my stomach hurt constantly and my appetite disappeared. Eating became a chore and if i got distracted with school/work responsibilities, i would forget to eat, sometimes for 2 days. I also developed hyperhydrosis and always had a chemical/metalic taste in my mouth.
Recently however, she has been overwhelmed by school and relationship drama and has emptied as many as 4 pills out on her counter and snorted them. The result is a terrifying tear between getting her help and respecting her wishes for me to stay with her and not get help. She started abusing the drug like this more frequently until it got to the point where her boyfriend and i tried to get her to stop. She ended up fighting both of us off like she had completely gone insane.
I have in the last 4 months tapered myself off the cymbalta and I am suffering from withdrawal symptoms. I have been two weeks totally off this drug . The dizziness and brain zaps are getting better, but my taste buds are still horrible. It feels like the front of my tongue has been burnt and it feels like my teeth are coated with rubber. How long do these withdrawal symptoms last. I can handle it all, but the taste bud sensation is horrible.
Night sweats, felt like I was going crazy, nausea, dizziness, confusion. I learned the hard way. What dosage are you on with Cymbalta? Mine is 60mg and for the first week I had to take the capsule, open it and pour it into a cup of apple juice, mix it around, then drink half of the apple juice. This was so I'd build my body up to the full 60mg, but through 30mg over a week's time. I had no side effects by doing that.
I am off the Suboxone and want to get off Cymbalta, and I have read some statements from others who have been on Cymbalta and heard the withdrawl from it can be horrendous.
I HAVE BEEN SLOWLY TAKING MY SELF OFF OF CYMBALTA ON THIS PAST FRIDAY WAS MY LAST DOSE OF CYMBALTA NOW I AM GOING THROUGH W/D AND MY DR. GAVE ME T3 TO HELP WITH THE PHYSICAL PAIN THAT I WAS IN FROM THE W/D'S. I AM NOW JUST SUFFERING FROM THE MENTAL PART OF IT. LIKE, DIZZINESS, VERTIGO, IM NOT REALLY SURE HOW TO EXPLAIN HOW MY HEAD FEELS BUT EVERY NOW AND THEN I HAVE THIS THROBBING VIBRATING FEELING THAT SHOOTS FROM MY HEAD DOWN THROUGH MY HANDS TO MY STOMACH THIS IS WHAT I CAN NO LONGER HANDLE.
I have been on Cymbalta in the past for about 4-5 months and the withdrawal lasted for about 1 month and it was mostly brain zaps (brain shivers). What can help you relieving some symptoms would be to boost you intake of choline/B complex vitamins, omega-3 (only fish oil). Healthy diet and exercise is also important.
sound when moving my eyes and I've also had some mild dizziness for several days. I Googled the symptoms and found them described in Cymbalta withdrawal. Went and checked my weekly pill container and found that I missed putting the Cymbalta in the box and haven't had it in five days. Just wanted to say thanks for the website and I wonder how I survived without the Internet!
dizziness, tingling feelings like pins and needles, sleep disturbances (vivid dreams, nightmares, inability to sleep), fatigue, sleepiness, feeling restless or agitated, feeling anxious, feeling sick (nausea) or being sick (vomiting), shaking (tremor), headaches, feeling irritable, diarrhoea, excessive sweating or vertigo. These symptoms are usually not serious and disappear within a few days, but if you have symptoms that are troublesome you should ask your doctor for advice.
You could try that too with cymbalta, take your cymbalta at night. My husband took Cymbalta, and for four days straight he was sick, like he had the flu. Then it was over and he was fine. When he weaned off it, same thing, even though he went slow, it still affected him that way.
I have recently been diagnosed as BP II and am "trying" to get off of Cymbalta. I was taking 60Mg for about 9 months, so my doc put me down to 30 mg's for 10 days. I felt fine. Then I was to stop. WOW!!!!!! I thought being pregnant four times with morning sickness sucked!!! I was soooo sick, everytime I moved my head the slightest bit I wanted to vomit, and sometimes do! I feel like I am being "shocked" sometimes, BRUTAL.
I have now been on 60 mg of Cymbalta for 2 weeks and 1 mg per day of clonazepam, the latter of which which have helped calm my panic attacks somewhat. I worry so much about the mid chest and back pain and tight breathing sensations being something awful like cancer that it consumes me. It's an awful way to not live life and be miserable and constantly scared.
Wow I feel SO much better though verging on hypo episode I think, all the dizziness and sickness disappeared within an couple of hours of taking the 30mg Cymbalta. Up this morning at 06.30am after only 5 hours sleep, not sure how long this energy will last but it sure feels great so I'm going to enjoy it! Spending spree yesterday...ÂŁ20...in a CHARITY SHOP lol!!!!! Cleaned house top to bottom.
