Common Questions and Answers about Crestor generic alternative

crestor

Avatar n tn But, when they changed the crestor to generic also, THATS when the problems started and co-q10 didnt help at all. Its been so severe that some days I cant get out of bed. I cannot stop taking either due to hyperacute triglycedemia. So, for a short time, I quit the generic crestor and not much difference, however, I did notice, there was a new brand of generic tricor. Its taken me six months to figure out that its the certain combination of generics that are doing it.
Avatar f tn The free clinic I go has switched me from Crestor to Lipitor even though my LDL is very high. It's a thorn in my side and won't budge even with Crestor. The cardiologist was even talking about adding another medicine to fight it. When I mentioned this to the clinic they told me every couple of years they switch drugs. So basically they can't afford to care about exceptions.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know what to take for an alternative to Aggrenox? I had a TIA almost 4 years ago and was put on Aggrenox, well, my husband will be losing his job in a week due to the economy which also means we will be losing our health insurance as well. I asked my doctor if he could take me off it and put me on something else and all he said was he would prefer I stayed on Aggrenox. I don't think we can afford it because it is $305 for a month supply!
Avatar n tn Could my shortness of breath. weakness and aching be cause by Crestor? I have seen a pulmonary doctor and a cardiologist. They say my heart and lungs are fine.
Avatar f tn Had been on Augmentin for a sinus infection, just finishing up the script, and take Crestor, Nexium, and Zyrtec on a regular basis. Symptoms started a few days after starting generic Zyrtec, which also caused unbelievable dryness that felt like I was dehydrated (no vomiting, though). A day after the chills, I noticed my urine was dark and my stools were very light, almost gray, and I started getting very itchy but no rash.
Avatar n tn I was initially prescribed Crestor 5 mg by my PCP but due to some severe side affects I stopped taking it. I was looking for an alternative to decrease the high cholesterol level and my friend, who is a cardiologist made a recommendation that I try red yeast rice to reduce the elevated cholesterol. I need to know if there are any contraindications with my current medications before I can begin taking it. I hope you can help answer this question for me. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Hello I have been taking generic Crestor for about two years. It has dropped my LDL to 39-45 range and blood glucose ranges from 105-111 fasting. A1c 5.1 - 5.3. Prior to the statin I was below 100. I am not overweight, exercise consistently and eat very healthy. So the statin is the culprit. I am wondering if being stricter on carb intake and supplementing with Berberine will help? Or has anyone had better outcomes with other statins like livalo or pravastatin?
Avatar m tn Lipitor (atorvastatin) is a high-intensity statin and is prescribed to lower cholesterol levels in the blood. There are alternatives for Lipitor that may not show this side-effect. (i.e. rosuvastatin=Crestor) My advice is to contact the cardiologist ask ask him/her if it is possible to switch to an alternative.

315318 tn?1353251800 Hi, I was recently prescribed fenofibrate, 54 mg by my cardiologist because a new test called NMR showed my lipid particles to be very high in size. I also take Crestor ( a statin), 20 mg. In addition,to these, I take insulin for diabetes, synthyroid for hypothyroidism, metaprolol and lisinopril for blood pressure, Aspirin ( 320 mg) , and Efient ( 10 mg) as blood thinners to stop any clotting in a new stent on my LAD.
Avatar n tn When it stopped being covered under brand name on our rx policy we switched to the generic. Under the generic Escitalopram0 (10 mg x 2 per day) he got headaches, dizziness, inability to focus the way he should, "fuzzy" feelings. The brand is $275 per month. If there is a natural compound or herb etc could you let us know. I always knew that certain generics would not work the same way. If the only choice is lexapro then that will have to be.
Avatar m tn s orders I cut out warm blooded animal fat and started on 20 mg generic Lipitor. My current test results are: CHOLESTEROL 96 mg/dl (<199) CHOLESTEROL.IN HDL 55 mg/dL (40-60) CHOLESTEROL.IN LDL 34 mg/dL (<99) TRIGLYCERIDE 33 mg/dL (<149) Is it unhealthy for these results to be this low? I am a 72 YO male.
Avatar f tn I take generic Crestor and baby aspirin. I am going to call the eye doctor tomorrow- has anyone had something like this? It has been a bit stressful and sleep is challenging but otherwise I eat whole food diet, take supplements and exercise regularly.
Avatar n tn I had been taking crestor for many years and where I worked switched insurances. Needless to say the new insurance did not see it fit to pay for Crestor and I was switched to Simvastatin. I used to never think anything of it but I did not have any of these problems prior to taking this new medicine, I cannot get any doctors to confirm this could be the problem so I chose to quit taking it myself. Seems like I do not have any problem when not taking the medicine.
Avatar f tn My first question to you would be whether you noticed this problem of premature ejaculation after starting Crestor? If yes, then Crestor is the culprit. Though, not a very common side effect of Crestor, this drug can cause loss of libido or premature ejaculation or both. Similarly, Nebivolol, which is a beta blocker, can cause ejaculation issues and erectile dysfunction.
Avatar m tn Anything at all to reduce the ill effects of rythmol, coreg, crestor, apirin, levo. I have not slept one night through for five years without two or three hour-long sweats/chills, nauseas, dizziness, weakness, fatigue etc. I'm 86 and tired of it. One stent 2010, RCA. Never felt angina or tachycardia.
Avatar n tn My understanding is that the statins with the greatest LDL reducing effect are Crestor, Lipitor, Zocor, and Pravachol, in that order. I don’t mention Leschol and Mevacor since they appear to be rarely used since recently due to the aforementioned being more powerful. Do we have any available solid data on the effects of the various individual statins other than LDL reduction? For example, do we know which ones raise HDL the most? What about effects on particle size or Lp(a), etc.
Avatar m tn Trilipix is 184USD, Crestor is 189USD, and even generic gabapentin is 154USD. Lexapro is about 140UDS. Generic Klonopin is about 10USD. Remeron is about the same. And Inderal is 4USD. This is all per month, and I need every one of them. How can I keep affording this when my parents are gone?!?!
Avatar m tn Why not Generic Effexor XR? It comes in a generic now.
Avatar n tn Has any one ever ordered generic Paxil successfully on line? I want to continue with the Paxil but it's a bit pricey.
Avatar n tn I would get a second opinion from a Cardiologist who is NOT one of his colleagues, and ask if they would treat you if you didn't take statins. If you have side effects from them, then this can be dangerous.
Avatar n tn s a generic for Celexa? My son was taking Lexapro and asked his doctor for the generic version, and she put him on Citolopram, and it's working great for him as well. I've been told that there is no generic for either, but that the ingredients are almost identical.
Avatar f tn m thinking of the pronounciation right, which was then switched to the generic after my one month sample. After maybe a year of that, I went onto Yaz [the brand name not generic] and was on that for a full year hoping stronger hormones would help control cramps more, with not much hope. But now for the past two years I have been on Seasonique [brand name again] and I am pleased mostly because it allows me 4 periods of year [translates into 4 weeks of hell a year lol] instead of 12.
Avatar f tn I asked awhile back about Omega 3 being a good alternative to statins and was told of the negative effects of statins. Because of the advice I received on here, I and my husband stopped taking ours, and our muscle pain has disappeared. My husband could barely walk due to leg pain, could not exercise due to muscle weakness, and now this is gone. So, I did my own research and was shocked to learn about statins and all the problems they cause.
Avatar f tn I have taken Crestor 10 mg for 6 weeks and then my hair started falling out. Anyone experience this? Tests ruled out any other source of problem.
