Crestor generic drug

Common Questions and Answers about Crestor generic drug

crestor

Avatar f tn The free clinic I go has switched me from Crestor to Lipitor even though my LDL is very high. It's a thorn in my side and won't budge even with Crestor. The cardiologist was even talking about adding another medicine to fight it. When I mentioned this to the clinic they told me every couple of years they switch drugs. So basically they can't afford to care about exceptions.
Avatar n tn But, when they changed the crestor to generic also, THATS when the problems started and co-q10 didnt help at all. Its been so severe that some days I cant get out of bed. I cannot stop taking either due to hyperacute triglycedemia. So, for a short time, I quit the generic crestor and not much difference, however, I did notice, there was a new brand of generic tricor. Its taken me six months to figure out that its the certain combination of generics that are doing it.
Avatar f tn t dare to say which drug is the culprit in your case. With eliminating all, the doctor wants to confirm if drug toxicity exists. If lab results will improve, I believe you'll be allowed to start with Nexium...
Avatar n tn Could my shortness of breath. weakness and aching be cause by Crestor? I have seen a pulmonary doctor and a cardiologist. They say my heart and lungs are fine.
Avatar f tn Hello I have been taking generic Crestor for about two years. It has dropped my LDL to 39-45 range and blood glucose ranges from 105-111 fasting. A1c 5.1 - 5.3. Prior to the statin I was below 100. I am not overweight, exercise consistently and eat very healthy. So the statin is the culprit. I am wondering if being stricter on carb intake and supplementing with Berberine will help? Or has anyone had better outcomes with other statins like livalo or pravastatin?
Avatar f tn If yes, then Crestor is the culprit. Though, not a very common side effect of Crestor, this drug can cause loss of libido or premature ejaculation or both. Similarly, Nebivolol, which is a beta blocker, can cause ejaculation issues and erectile dysfunction. Since both these drugs can cause ejaculation issues, and since you need Crestor to treat hyperlipidemia, my suggestion would be to talk to your doctor and ask for a change in your BP medication. You could site this reason to your doctor.

Avatar m tn When a patent for a brand name drug expires, pharmaceutical company can make a generic form of the drug. Effexor patent expired in 2006, since then several generics are available. Those generics are usually cheaper but they must contain the same active ingredient(s), the same dosage form, at the same dose or concentration, and for the same route of administration. The generics are usually cheaper and can use different inactive ingredients and preservatives which can sometimes cause trouble.
Avatar f tn I just got my results back for my chloresterol levels and wondered if the numbers are good? I am taking 10m of Crestor...my total is 191 My Hdl is 106 My Ldl is 71, and my triglicerides are 70...what do you think?
Avatar m tn s orders I cut out warm blooded animal fat and started on 20 mg generic Lipitor. My current test results are: CHOLESTEROL 96 mg/dl (<199) CHOLESTEROL.IN HDL 55 mg/dL (40-60) CHOLESTEROL.IN LDL 34 mg/dL (<99) TRIGLYCERIDE 33 mg/dL (<149) Is it unhealthy for these results to be this low? I am a 72 YO male.
907968 tn?1292622204 I'm on a 30 day trial offer from Crestor (20mg) to replace my Simvastatin (20mg). I'm sure I know the answer to this question but hearing other opinions would be welcomed... As I understand it, Crestor is a bit stronger than Simvastatn, or should I say, You can take a smaller dose of Crestor to equal Simvatstatin. Other than the equivalent dose change is there any other differences - side effects I should be looking for?
883607 tn?1241847511 You can try Webmd for generic names but most drs and many pharmacists have a 2 tier system, name brands and generic drugs and dispense them accordingly. Not all name brand drugs have generic equivalents so they don't use the generic names. Most pharmacists also are so busy that they only have time to verify the meds in the bottle against what is in it and read the possible side effects if needed by a patron.
Avatar f tn I have taken Crestor 10 mg for 6 weeks and then my hair started falling out. Anyone experience this? Tests ruled out any other source of problem.
Avatar f tn I take generic Crestor and baby aspirin. I am going to call the eye doctor tomorrow- has anyone had something like this? It has been a bit stressful and sleep is challenging but otherwise I eat whole food diet, take supplements and exercise regularly.
Avatar n tn I had been taking crestor for many years and where I worked switched insurances. Needless to say the new insurance did not see it fit to pay for Crestor and I was switched to Simvastatin. I used to never think anything of it but I did not have any of these problems prior to taking this new medicine, I cannot get any doctors to confirm this could be the problem so I chose to quit taking it myself. Seems like I do not have any problem when not taking the medicine.
894666 tn?1274097896 Mine did!! My doctor wanted to put me on Crestor and I refused because I felt sure that because I'd never had a cholesterol problem before that it would come back in line once my thyroid levels got right again. It took a while, but at last check they were in the normal range - surprisingly, my pcp STILL wanted to put me on Crestor - can't help wonder if he was working for ME or the drug company!!
Avatar n tn Thank you for the post. As of today, I am not taking any drug. I feel normal and "healthy". Except for the backache that came with Crestor. It looks like my muscle pain is diminishing though. I am afraid to go on zetia either. I am helpless not knowing what to do. My doctor said I have to atleast take the meds for 3 months before the blood test. But then even with this horrible muscle pain he did not ask me to get the CPK tested. Should I ask him? Thank you for the support.
Avatar n tn My Asthma Dr. said that he would consider changing from Lipitor 5 mg to Crestor (dosage not yet mentioned) after 1 more blood test. 3 years ago another dr. suggested a change, but cardiologist said no need to. Another Dr. (forum) suggested using, in addition to Fish oil for tri-glycerides, niacin. And he said statin users should take CO-enzyme Q 300 mg.
Avatar n tn Your husband is right in asking you to stop Crestor. If the pains are due to the drug, stopping the drug will help relieve the symptoms. The other possibility is menopause itself. HRT will help if this is the case. The third possibility is vitamin D deficiency, maybe calcium deficiency. Get bone density test done too. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor regarding this pain.
Avatar n tn I was on Crestor for a couple of years, and last year I started getting PVC's. I was taken off Crestor because my liver function started showing up with issues, and my cholesterol was VERY low on it. I was only on it because I am diabetic, and they want much lower cholesterol than normal. Regardless, since I have been off the Crestor, my PVC's are now gone. Not reduced, but gone. They slowly tapered away as the Crestor left my system.
645800 tn?1466860955 In the end this means if you are given a generic drug you should research the brand name drug in order to see the latest risks for the drug you are to take.
Avatar m tn Anything at all to reduce the ill effects of rythmol, coreg, crestor, apirin, levo. I have not slept one night through for five years without two or three hour-long sweats/chills, nauseas, dizziness, weakness, fatigue etc. I'm 86 and tired of it. One stent 2010, RCA. Never felt angina or tachycardia.
Avatar n tn Toprol XL-50mg, Crestor-40mg, Zantac-150mg, and Aspirin-325mg. Now, it's been almost a week since my procedure and beginning the new meds. I have had an increasingly severe headache and dizziness on standing since I got home from the procedure with hot flashes, night sweats and also a low-grade fever last night. Could my symptoms be a result of one of the medicines or combinations?
1716017 tn?1308792330 Other than the limited test results you have not mentioned any other symptoms. Please tell us about any symptoms you have noticed. Now, if it were me, before making that decision I would want to see test results for the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4 (not the same as Total T3 and T4).
