Crestor and gout

Common Questions and Answers about Crestor and gout

crestor

My (total) cholesterol levels have gone from 262 in 06/04 (prior to starting Crestor) to 155 in 11/05 so the low dose Crestor (and I believe the red wine helps) seems to be getting great results. My HDL stays in the mid 30's and my triglycerides have gone from 321 down to 162, for the same time period. Finally, I have scheduled an appt. with my Family Physician for early December. What further tests should I seek? Also, please tell me any other impressions or concerns whatsoever.
I am a 56 years old post-menopause woman and had never have thyroid and gout problem before. However, the uric acid and tsh level were just getting higher and higher every year for the past 2 years. I am afraid if I don't get any treatment now, it may later develop gout and other symptoms. What type of treatment should I have now ? Should I take thyroid treatment first before taking any like crestor for cholesterol or medication for uric acid ? please advise. Thanks !!!

Alas, it didn't last, after three months I stopped it because my kidneys were beginning to fail (I had acute gout and nobody wants that) and I also had severe Rhabdomyolisis and tore a muscle in my back. And I am 75.
However, he said it could NOT be causing me so much pain. He checked out my arm and noticed a hard soft tissue knot, and suggested removing it through surgery and it "might" relieve my pain. So, 3 weeks ago I had the said surgery and it was removed (a hard soft tissue mass about the size of a marble). No, this was not the cyst inside my humerus bone. Anyways, I still have the pain, and it is extremely terrible at night (on a scale of 1 to 10, a 20 at night).
He takes allopurinol for gout, plavix because of a previous stroke and crestor for high cholesteral. He also recently took indocin for a gout attack. The pathology came back negative for invasion in the lymph nodes and the prostate and the left kidney. My guestion has to do with his most recent blood test. His AST 145, LDH 202, alt 229, ALK Phophatase 259 Bilirubin .8. The Oncologist is concerned that the cancer may have gone into his liver and/or bones.

When the feelings start up in my chest, *sometimes* my mind starts racing and thinking that it might be heart related, and that is when I can feel some anxiety coming on. If I calm myself down, or after the feeling passes, I am perfectly fine. Other times the feelings may persist for over an hour, or several times per day. They come and go, and have peaks and valleys. I can feel my heartrate speed up (90-100 bpm) but my actual blood pressure stays fine (120/80 or less).
My blood pressure has always been really good. I currently take Crestor 10mg 1x daily for hereditary high cholesterol and it has my total cholerterol at desireable levels. I also take Allopurinol 300mg 1x daily because I had gout a few years back and my uric acid count was elevated above normal. Aside from these 2 things I am in pretty good health. Around the time this sensation stuff started I stopped taking caffeine.
I'm a 36 Y/O Male Fit Fat person who enjoys a tipple. I've been tested for gout...negative, and research on gout doesn't match my symptoms. I had accupuncture which seemed to work the first time, as pain went away for 6 days, so I had it again. It didn't work as well the second time. Maybe I'll try a third. I don't really know what to do next. I'll keep in touch.
All sensations returned to normal - neck and back pain chronic and could feel sensations again. I had a positive ANA test in Dec 2008 - negative Ds-Dna but low C4/5. I had started Crestor 20mg approximately 3 weeks before and then the following occurred which caused my doc to do the bloodwork above:: 1. Lost all seconday pain sensations symmetrical - more in face and upper body but also in lower body but could still feel pin *****; 2.
I am not depressed (that I know of) and not really under a lot of stress at work or home. I already take Crestor 10mg for hereditary high cholesterol (though I am not overweight by any means) as well as Allopurinol 300mg because of gout in my foot a few years back. I have no other medical conditions or allergies. I am not looking forward to going on anti-anxiety medicine as I have read some bad reviews and experiences resulting from withdrawals and side effects, if in fact this is anxiety.
I also have been taking crestor (10mg) a day an watching what I eat. My triglycerides and cholesterol levels have been flucuating up and down like a yoyo. The 1st Pancreatitus attack my triglycerides were over the 6000 mark. This past February of 08' I was admitted back to the hospital for Acute Pancreatitus and again my triglyceride (5030) and cholesterol (930) levels were outragous.
Switched to Crestor developed Rhabdomyolysis after 3 months and Gout - back to the kidney problems. I should add that I am also on HCTZ for my B/P which didn't help as far as the kidneys are concerned. What does it all mean? You're on your own, I guess.
Triglycerides 119 HDL 61 LDL 200 My dr wants to put me on meds and i would like to try to avoid that. she suggested taking coq10 and fish oil. I did some research and found Omega Q plus by dr Sinatra. http://www.****.*** Wondering if anyone has taken this and if it has been successful for you?
In the end of June, his doctor changed his Uloric to Allopurinol, 300 mg, 1x/day and that was when he got in trouble. The Allopurinol caused upset stomach and diarrhea. It also brought on a gout attack and apparantly he was taking quite a bit of Tylenol to manage the pain. He went to the ER and was told that he was bleeding internally and had an anal fissure. He got the fluid in the knee drained, was given a shot of cortisone, a prescription for Prednisone, and Percocet for the pain.
The second took crestor for two years, gaining symptoms like type 2 diabetes, dermal rashes and strange bruising, severe gout, and when she got pneumonia and was given an antibiotic she had severe muscle failure with 10 days in the hospital, a 10 inch slice down the front of her leg for her biopsy. The biopsy conclusively showed muscle damage due to stain drugs and a total of 5 doctors agreed that this was due only to statin drug damage.
I'm post menopausal, 55 heathy, high blood pressure, on Crestor, Altace HTC, Bisoprolol Fumarate, and low dose aspirin...Caltrate plus can't think of anything else I take, except for drinking a few glasses of homemade red wine and a bottle of Fuze daily. I hope that with all our input we can all help to put a name to our problem.
I also have that annoying warm sensation that is in my right leg and it moves from my ankle and up about 4inches and seems to be very frequent. I too thought it was a little heater under the seat of my car that was warming my leg-but the heat was not on. Also, the balls of my feet are burning along with this sensation. I need to know what this is?
I've been taking Crestor for 3 or 4 months and have not had probems up until 2 weeks ago. Could this be a possible issue?? Has anyone else just tried changing to a better matress??
