I am a 56 years old post-menopause woman and had never have thyroid and gout problem before. However, the uric acid and tsh level were just getting higher and higher every year for the past 2 years. I am afraid if I don't get any treatment now, it may later develop gout and other symptoms. What type of treatment should I have now ? Should I take thyroid treatment first before taking any like crestor for cholesterol or medication for uric acid ? please advise. Thanks !!!
I have had Crohns disease for over 46 years, now I have had gout, and it has gone from the wrists and hands to my knees and legs and feet also still in my hands and arms, I had ingested a large quantity of crushed tomatoes last year, that may have brought on the gout, bu I still have other problems now and that is a year ago since I ingested all the tomatoes, I am experiencing terrible stiffness, and swelling of the ankles........
Can anyone help me please?
After 7 years of therapy taking Crestor and Tricor (fenofibrate), I, too, started experiencing intense pain in my legs, feet, back, and arms. My Dr. took me off Crestor last month but the pain returned within a few days, although not as intense as it was prior to my stopping Crestor. I took myself off fenofibrate just a couple of days ago and "Wow" what a difference! I can actually sleep at night and notice that the pain is dissipating more and more each day.
I started on crestor, than realized I am ttc and starting not feeling well and am on my ttw...I test for my pregnancy saturday. I took the crestor for 4 days than stopped and its been a little over a week. Should I restart and then stop if pregnant or not bother because of the possibility of there being a fetus?
I am just worried about my health.
The weakness and aching are signs of rhabdomyalgia which is a side affect of statin drugs. You need to see the doctor that prescribed the meds as he/she needs to check you. I don't know about the shortness of breath. It could be a drug reaction too.
True Gout affects the joints of our body and occurs when uric acid crystals are deposited in and around the joints. It's like throwing sand and tiny bits of gravel in a clean and well lubricated joint. This causes pain, inflammation, often redness and always swelling in specific joints. It more commonly effects the lower joints of our body especially the big toe. But the ankle, knee or other joints can be effected.
Has anyone gotten worsening of their PVC's from taking a statin drug? I seem to be intolerant of these drugs and have tried Crestor, Lipitor and Lescol. My PVC's go absolutely nuts when I take them. I have done my own tests by going off and on them. I consistently get worse when I'm on them. I take C0Q10 and a whole bunch of supplements including magnesium to no avail. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I recently finished 12 weeks of Sovaldi and Olysio where I cleared and relapsed after I finished.I take allopurinol every day for my gout and did so during treatment.It has no negative effect on you during treatment.Gout can lead to serious problems if not treated.You really should get some blood work to see your uric acid levels.A rheumatologist is the one who treats people for gout but Im sure your GP or hepatologist will write up the bloodwork for you.
There are articles which link uric acid levels (high uric acid is associated with Gout) with HCV and interferon but I don't think that gout is a side effect of HCV or treatment. If that were the case I think I would have seen a lot more posts on the subject - I can't remember one). I treated 3 times and my last ended in June 2004. I never had gout until May 2009. Too often we attribute every malady we have to HCV or treatment but it's more often that not wrong.
s easy to rule this in or out based on Uric Acid levels in your blood. I assume your PCP has done this and that is his rationale behind dismissing Gout.
What I do think is that you need to find out the reason your foot is swelling. The swelling alone can damage tissues and structures if left untreated...which you certainly don't want to do, especially at 25.
Dark urine could be from nothing more then not drinking enough fluids.
Had been on Augmentin for a sinus infection, just finishing up the script, and take Crestor, Nexium, and Zyrtec on a regular basis. Symptoms started a few days after starting generic Zyrtec, which also caused unbelievable dryness that felt like I was dehydrated (no vomiting, though). A day after the chills, I noticed my urine was dark and my stools were very light, almost gray, and I started getting very itchy but no rash.
However, there is also the risk of liver inflammation due to the medicine Crestor® (rosuvastatin) and it is conceivable that there could be an additive effect of Crestor® (rosuvastatin) and INH. In addition, niacin may increase the risk of muscle disease called myopathy when used with Crestor® (rosuvastatin). Crestor® (rosuvastatin) significantly increases the INR (enhances the effect of Coumadin to make your blood “thinner” than it would be alone.
But my best lipid results ( raising HDL, lowering LDL and Lp(a) ) came from taking RX Niacin which I take with the 10 mg Crestor and 325 mg aspirin at bedtime.No problems with Niacin either.I take RX fish oil also as I am in big time prevention mode due to cardiac microvascular dysfunction.Fortunately my lipids have never been bad and my larger coronaries are clear but the lipids are only a piece of the total cardiac picture and the possible side effects of meds far outweigh my other risks.
I am suffering from acute gout right now and have found many connections with hypothyroid and gout and a fair amount on its (hypo) connection to tooth decay and gum disease!
Does anybody have any knowledge of these relationships?
How about the tale of Lugol's Iodine on the bottom of your feet at night?
Do you have to be on meds to manage hypothyroid or is iodine replacement enough?
Hello I have been taking generic Crestor for about two years. It has dropped my LDL to 39-45 range and blood glucose ranges from 105-111 fasting. A1c 5.1 - 5.3. Prior to the statin I was below 100. I am not overweight, exercise consistently and eat very healthy. So the statin is the culprit. I am wondering if being stricter on carb intake and supplementing with Berberine will help? Or has anyone had better outcomes with other statins like livalo or pravastatin?
In January (when this latest blood work came in) it showed that my cholesterol was a bit elevated, so my doctor put me on Crestor. I took for only two months and started having severe muscle pain in my legs and arms. I stopped taking it immediately. I might also add that I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis about three years ago. I was also diagnosed with IBS-Constipation prevalent roughly four years ago.
