Common Questions and Answers about Concussion symptoms vomiting

concussion

Avatar n tn Any form of concussion ideally should be evaluated by at the emergency room by emergency room physicians, and later admitted for observation about 24-48 hours since neurologic symptoms can still ensue (like weakness, vomiting, decrease consciousness, etc.). A CT scan is not mandatory for concussion, however this should be done for any person with neurologic symptoms such as preferential weakness of one part of the body, severe headache, or decreasing sensorium.
Avatar m tn A concussion can last for weeks after the head injury. The symptoms too vary from person to person. Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere.
Avatar n tn I have a pretty good knot on my head still and know I had a concussion (dizziness, fatigue, nausea/vomiting and headache). Well.. today my head still hurts, but I am noticing pain in my ear as well still. That began last night. Since I do not have insurance, I am wondering if I should be concerned and seek treatment. Please advise!
Avatar m tn A sever head blow is likely to cause headaches. If you develop nausea, vomiting, excess sleep, severe headache, difficulty in walking and balance, tremors, seizures, vision problems, ringing in ears etc then consult a doctor immediately. These symptoms develop if there is a brain injury or bleed. Otherwise this pressure will go in a few days. However, it is important to get a medical evaluation. So please consult your doctor once. Take care!
Avatar f tn Anyone please!!
Avatar n tn Most people recover completely, particularly if postconcussion syndrome symptoms do not develop. Postconcussion syndrome symptoms are common during the week after brain injury. They often resolve during the second week. However, sometimes symptoms persist for months or, rarely, years. Your friend should consult a neurologist and undergo a MRI to see the effects of head injury. There could be inflammation of the brain tissue causing headache and nausea.

Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere. In absence of these symptoms and based on the history a diagnosis of concussion is given. Not all concussions need a CT scan immediately.

Avatar m tn Headaches, dizziness, irritability and concentration problems may be observed. Symptoms such as changes in speech, seizure, vomiting, double vision or blurred vision, fever and headache that is getting worse, lasts a long time, or does not get better with over-the-counter pain relievers may warrant immediate follow-up with your doctor. Avatar m tn Trauma to the head including blows, concussion can cause symptoms referred to the facial nerve. Since she has sensory symptoms, this could be trigeminal nerve involvement. There is vomiting which could mean collection of blood intracranially, possible subdural hematoma leading to raised intracranial pressure necessitating emergency intervention. I suggest that you do not lose time and head for the emergency room.

Avatar n tn my daughter, who is an adult was accidently pushed in a crowd and fell and banged her head at the back without anything stopping her fall, she was in a house party and had only 3 glasses of wine , it was time to go home when this happened at the end of the night , she came in off balance, vomiting , severe headache and a bit disoriented, next day , still vomiting, severe headache, and one sided neck ache with radiating shoulder pain, i don't think it was 3 glasses of wine , what do you thin
Avatar f tn I am sorry I don't know what pcs stands for so I cannot comment. In the meantime I would ask for a medication to prevent vomiting as it will ruin your teeth etc.
Avatar m tn Having your head banged and suffering from concussion is very serious. It will take approximately 6 weeks or more for you to start to feel more normal. Any symptoms like headache that you didn't feel before, memory problems, vomiting, swelling and any vision problems should be seen to urgently. There is still a risk of haemorrhage within the skull and because of this it is wise to seek medical advice. Get someone to take you to the hospital, don't go on your own.
Avatar n tn She then attempted to vomit unsuccesfully many times before fading in and out of concsiousness. Is that concussion or is it more serious?? she went to hospital i dont really know her but i want to know if she is ok!
Avatar f tn I diagnosed concussion because I had pretty much all the symptoms of one. And I didn't go to the hospital for two reasons 1) I didn't feel like trusting my driving skills after that 2) I did a typical test for "serious" head trama (watching what your eyes do, how long you can focus on things ext) so I knew it wasn't "serious" so I didn't think to go. I know thats bad but what can I say.
Avatar n tn No LOC, no confusion, no amnesia of the event or immediately before. I had no symptoms whatso ever for 2 hours. On day-1, I had a mild headache and some lightheadedness. On day-2, for a few hours the headache and lightheadedness (not vertigo) continued. I also had some numbness of Lt leg and weakness of Rt. hand for few hours that spontaneously resolved. After 28 hours, I was completely symptom free.
1100598 tn?1413127426 Some of the symptoms you are describing sound to me like they could be Basilar migraine, although since these symptoms started after a concussion I think it may confuse things a bit.. although if your doctor is sure that all of the symptoms are directly related to your migraines, then I would ask your doctor if you have Basilar migraine.
Avatar f tn As far as my experience goes, a hit with a base ball bat should cause some short term problems like concussion and post concussion symptoms. But if there was no unconsciousness, nausea or vomiting, a serious brain damage is ruled out. Do you wish to add any more symptoms of yours ?
