concussion

Avatar n tn I have been sleeping well besides being anxious about the possibility of a concussion. This morning I feel as if my upper cheek/right below my eye area is falling asleep/going numb. There's sensation to it when I touch it, but it feels a little tingly. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Avatar m tn is that normal? are those symptoms of concussion? will they go away alone with time? should i see a doctor?
Avatar f tn A little over two months ago I had a concussion without the loss of consciousness. Nothing showed up on a ct scan. Ever since my vision has worsened, I have had horrible headaches, and today experienced the worst headache. I was vomitting and could not see straight. I also had tingling in my arms, hands, and feet. I also feel a numbness in my face and a strong pain in my neck.
Avatar f tn I explained the numbness in my feet and headache and exhaustion and was diagnosed with a concussion. Since going home from the er my symptoms are not improving. I sleep all the time and my headache is getting worse and not responding to meds. My vision keeps getting blurry even going completely black and my feet still have numbness that isn't going away. I'm very dizzy and feel flushed. Upon looking into the mirror I noticed I'm extremely pale.
Avatar n tn The arm numbness and pain symptoms may be caused by radiculitis, another form of neck injury. You may have scar tissue built up from your whiplash injury. Find a physical therapist who is certified to perform the Graston Technique. It will break up that scar tissue and give you your mobility back, which should relieve the arm pain/numbness issue.
16948797 tn?1452582673 You had a concussion. The numbness was due to nerve entrapment. In general there is a window of opportunity to treat these injuries and it does not exceed 24 hours. The drill in an ER is to provide medications that stop brain swelling in it's tracks, generally through use of a steroid. It is impossible to say if you suffered brain damage. One school of thought is that with every concussion there is some irreversible damage to the brain. Maybe yes. Maybe no.
Avatar f tn things that started to happen were after another concussion. That was where the cough headaches began and numbness, and all the other Chiari goodies. Although we are born with it, it appers that just the right combination of hits to the head can activate things. I know exactly when I hit my head and things started happening, it took about five years after though to be to be at the point where I really knew something was wrong.
Avatar f tn I diagnosed concussion because I had pretty much all the symptoms of one. And I didn't go to the hospital for two reasons 1) I didn't feel like trusting my driving skills after that 2) I did a typical test for "serious" head trama (watching what your eyes do, how long you can focus on things ext) so I knew it wasn't "serious" so I didn't think to go. I know thats bad but what can I say.
Avatar m tn Arachnoid cysts can produce all the symptoms that you are currently experiencing like tingling numbness, fatigue, one sided weakness but an arachnoid cyst in the middle cranial fossa (the one that you have) cannot produce these symptoms. The symptoms are due to displacement of the temporal lobe of brain. Cysts in the middle cranial fossa present with auditory hallucinations, migraine like headaches and periodic paranoia. In children they produce symptoms of ADHD. Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn No LOC, no confusion, no amnesia of the event or immediately before. I had no symptoms whatso ever for 2 hours. On day-1, I had a mild headache and some lightheadedness. On day-2, for a few hours the headache and lightheadedness (not vertigo) continued. I also had some numbness of Lt leg and weakness of Rt. hand for few hours that spontaneously resolved. After 28 hours, I was completely symptom free.
Avatar n tn He is now experiencing numbness and tingling in his hands. He has an appt with his GP...I told him to go to the ER? What should he do. He also has a little jaw pain.
Avatar f tn Though Asperger’s by it self will not prolong concussion, the diagnosis of concussion in Asperger’s is often overlooked and some other cause or the disease itself attributed to as a cause of symptoms post injury. Hence it is important to consult a neuro-psychiatrist. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar n tn You really do need to talk to your doctor. Is it numbness from nerve involvement from the trauma area where you had stitches or is it numbness due to a concussion you may have suffered? I'd want to know the source and think you need to ask your doctor. Nerve injury can resolve though, yes. Sometimes providing therapy can help speed it along.
Avatar n tn Hi, I suggest that you continue to observe your daughter's symptoms .The CT scan showed normal results and the headaches have been responsive to the medications. Have you informed the neurologist with regards to the twitching? This may not be something serious. It could be something nerve related secondary to the injury. This may spontaneously resolve by itself. However, have her neurologist assess this just to make sure. Is there any associated eye redness or tearing?
Avatar n tn Your symptoms could be due to migraine or PCS ( post concussion syndrome ) because of the concussion that you had years ago. Please go for an MRI brain to know the exact cause and consult a neurologist for treatment as a delay could be dangerous. There are chances of getting a stroke. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards !
Avatar f tn I am freaking out about all of this due to the fact that it has been going on for so long and before all of this I never dealt with any of these symptoms. When I go on websites and type in my symptoms is comes up with brain aneurysm and scary things like that.

Avatar f tn My 17 y.o. Daughter suffered a concussion 8 weeks ago. Due to persistent symptoms, an mri was done. She has chiari 1 of 11mm, minimal CSF flow, and no syrinx at that time. She has tried naprosyn, propranolol, amitriptyline, prednisone, Frova, and now topamax. None have worked. She currently has constant headache at the back of her head and neck, head pressure, numbness and tingling in her arms to name a few symptoms. Any thoughts/experience with this situation?
Avatar m tn A concussion can last for weeks after the head injury. The symptoms too vary from person to person. Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere.
Avatar n tn The compression could be due to trauma or arthritis of the spine or due to a herniated disc or other lesions. The symptoms include pain or numbness at the level of the problem (i.e. neck or back etc) and pain that may radiate down the arm or leg (depending on where the problem is). The numbness may worsen in specific positions. In more advanced cases, muscle weakness or sensory symptoms such as tingling or numbness may occur.
Avatar n tn Optometrist says he has bilateral optic nerve swelling and has sent him to ophthalmologist today. He has had no previous symptoms and the eye changes and on and off dizziness started after the head bump. Would a concussion be the most likely cause of the optic nerve swelling and vision changes?
