Avatar m tn I think it would be wise for her to make an appointment with a GI specialist. While colon cancer is very rare in people under 40, it's not uncommon. Those symptoms can be a sign of things other than colon cancer such as IBS, Crohns, or ulcerative colitis. The bump on the abdomen definatly should be checked out. Keep us posted on how she's doing!
Avatar f tn Hi I'm 21 and have polyasytic ovaries and when I'm on my period and I have a BM or when I'm just gassy it hurts extremely bad in my colon like a knife is being twisted around. My endometrium increases to 8mm thick when I'm menstrating. Also it is very difficult to put a tampon in I have to push under and around a wall. If u have any information it would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn My appetite is good and other than the change in boewl habits during the last few weeks i have no other symptoms that could be considered colon cancer like. I have a family history of cancer and i am scared. Do i need another colonscopy ?

Avatar f tn legs and face limbs fall asleep easily I have colon problems my ovaties and tubes were left and now covered in cysts I have been to the E.R. about a half a dozen times in the past 6 months blood is always in my urine but they say they cant find the cause ..now my lower right side front and back has stabbing almost labor pain ..and I can't control my bladder ..I aldo have severe pain in my thighs and hips the E.R.
Avatar f tn Ballooning is done in many areas of the body - including the trachea and the esophagus when people have problems with those tubes. When the procedure is done in skilled hands, it's a relatively easy procedure. As long as you don't have a 'thinner' section than normal that you're dealing with - and you shouldn't based on what you're saying - the stretching should go well.
Avatar m tn I have Diverticulosis in my ascending colon. It's uncommon but does happen. Tricky to diagnose without having a colonoscopy though. In your case, imaging for sure, usually ultrasound ... but a colonoscopy might shed some light on things as well.
351724 tn?1267537018 You do need to find out what's going on, as rectal bleeding should never be ignored. Bright red blood indicates a lower GI bleed, dark or black blood is an upper GI bleed. A lower GI bleed can be caused by hemorrhoids, small tears in the anus....but then I don't understand why there is no blood when she wipes. I would have her see a Pediatric Gastroenterologist for an evaluation, this way there is no guessing.
Avatar m tn i am going through genetic testing now for the apc or myh gene, i have attenuated fap, the testing as i was told was not for me it was to keep my kids healthy, i already have afap based on pathology report, number of adenomatous polyps etc. in order for my kids to get tested, they need to find one of these genes in me , they can't always find them i was told. mine is genetic, so the worry for my kids is there.
Avatar n tn I had a pain to my right side under the ribs over two years. I did all tests, US, x-rays,gold bladder, etc. to find why I have a pain every day. I couldn't slep on my left side due to pain. I couldn't sit longer....Every day pain, pain, pain My pain come in after car accident where I was sitting as a passenger and the crush was from my R side. All doctor's said because of your accident..... Finally 3 years after car accident I decided do colonoscopy.
Avatar n tn To answer your questions: 1) Atelectasis is collapse of part of the lung. 2) This refers to the end of the esophagus having thicker than normal walls. Inflammation in this area can be a possible cause. 3) This means the small bowel is bigger than normal. 4) Thickening of the colon in this case is hypothesized to be due to the fact that the colon was not "inflated" at that point, so it appears to be folded upon itself.
Avatar f tn I have the same question regarding a colonoscopy being done? They need to check for polyps in his colon as well. Were his polyps removed? He's very young to have polyps and this needs to be addressed as well as there is a colon disease that is hereditary which presents with polyps at a young age. Keep Vaseline (petroleum jelly) on his anus at all times to keep it from being sore and irritated. Did the GI say what was causing the redness in the stomach?
Avatar n tn You have had a coloscopy that is recent and your findings at that time were not such to raise the suspicions of colon cancer then or now with your doctor. Colon cancer is slow growing and that is why screenings are important because it allows it to be caught in treatable stages. The family history you have has already been taken into consideration. I would think a question for the doctor would be if the insurance company was not an issue, would they think you needed a colonoscopy right now?
Avatar n tn Is it possible to have herpes appear in your colon? and if yes would this cause severe lower back pain, bloating, painful air entrapment, diverticulosis and possible severe gi bleeding? Are Herpe outbreaks in the colon dangerous? I have not been sexually active for a long time, and never knew I had herpes and it just began occurring. I had horrible GI problems and sever GI bleeding off and on for 8 years, I had surgery and thank God I am healed, but all of a sudden I started having herpes.
Avatar n tn there could be loads of different reasons for the above and i am sure all treatable but i would think if u have not been a trip to your doc would be in order.
Avatar f tn There may be no problem with having one bowel movement in two weeks. I have one to two bowel movements a day, I take probiotics that survive my stomach acid and make it to my intestines ready to digest food.It took me 5 to 7 days of probiotics to train my digestive system to perform as mentioned.I eat about the daily requirement of fiber a day: 35 grams.
Avatar n tn When it cures me, I may request your help in spreading the word to others on this site with colon problems. After all, who wouldn't want to share a cure? :) Thanks for all the advice and help, I'll let you know how the detox program works!
Avatar m tn For the past couple years I have a problem that comes and goes and is really bothering me. I notice I get horrible pains in my bowel which quickly turns into golden diarrhea and leaves me on the toilet in pain for a good 15mins and back and forth to the toilet for several hours. These symptoms last for weeks and last time over 4 months. I notice I have this problem after taking antibiotics and also after drinking.
Avatar n tn i am a 33 year old female who was told by a gi dr that i have an ulcer in my colon and cysts on my ovaries. i have been experiencing alot of gas bith burping and fating. my bowel movements are irregular i dont have blood in my stool. i have been experiencing nausea after eating certain foods. Is there some foods i should avoid eating like fried foods or hamburger? why do i have gas all the time?
Avatar f tn Although you are very young to have developed colon cancer, there are cases where this disease has been noted in patients of your (and younger) age and, from the search I suggested above, colon cancer will be mentioned. I'm not trying to scare you - but, in similar postings, quite often the patient asks "could I have colon cancer"?
Avatar f tn can a child of 2 yrs old have tortous colon? my grand daughter has had problems with her bowel movements for some time now , her dr seems unconcerned . we got him finally to do x-rays but he said all looked ok. yet the problem is still happening. she has some days where she will shake while having a movement and screams like it is tearing her insides up. her dr first tried to say she was holding it in and she may have been but my guess is she did because it hurt her so bad.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 33yr old female. I have been having bowel problems for the past few years. In the past year I have been seeing mucus, blood and blood clots (large ones) in my feces. About 4 months ago I had an extensive colonoscopy, which revealed I have IBS-C and a 'spastic colon'? Thankfully, there were no polyps or other masses. I changed my diet cutting out gluten which was a major irritate for me. However, it hasnt helped with my bowel movements.
Avatar n tn I am a 29 year old female. I have 3 kids 11, 7, and 3 months. I have had a problem with rectal bleeding since I first got pregnant 11+ years ago, i am not sure if that has anything to do with it but figured I'd mention that. I have had tests done where they check to see if I have bleeding and each one has come back +. The bleeding makes the water turn dark dark red and sometimes if its not too bad of an episode it turns light red.
Avatar f tn It is hereditary although a spontaneous mutation can happen. Have you lost any family members to colon cancer in their 40's?
Avatar f tn Starting to have pain from the adhensions which have formed, especially in the right side ..Do the symptoms get any better? or is this as good as it gets!!!!. If anyone has any helpful advice I would be grateful as it can be isolating and friends and family try to be understanding but at times you would like to chat with someone who is experiencing the same horrid symptoms.
5051252 tn?1362970368 I would go in & see your family doctor, & see about getting referred for a GI specialist consultation. I am 34 years old, female. I was having on & off mild rectal bleeding for about 6 months to a year. I kept putting it off. I thought maybe it was hemorrhoids due to a vaginal birth years ago. I've had hemorrhoid problems since the birth. However, the bleeding started to increase, and I was starting to get more constipated, so I finally saw my family doctor.
Avatar f tn Alternating BMs. Lower back pain. Stabbing pains on the left side. I do NOT have weight loss or blood in my stool (so far as I know). I am tired a lot. I thought my problems might be gynological- but after a TVUS and bloodwork, the doc confirmed that all is well there. I had an upper endoscopy last year. I have GERD. But my stomach was fine. Should I have a colonoscopy? Are there other less invasive tests you've had to rule out things or diagnose issues in lieu of a colonoscopy?
