Colon pain in stomach

Common Questions and Answers about Colon pain in stomach

colon

Avatar f tn t aware that laying on their right side can cause gas to build up in your colon and form a gas bubble. The way the colon is shaped and with the gas rising upward, when laying on the right side it gets trapped in the ascending and transverse sections of the colon and is not as easily expelled as it is when laying on the left side. I recommend trying some OTC treatments like beano, gas X, prilosec, prevacid, Mylanta, mylox etc. for a few days.

Avatar n tn He might want to consider getting a colonoscopy. I lot of people think their pain is in their stomach when it is really in their intestines.
Avatar m tn I'm a 29 year old male and I was just curious if anyone knows. I've had a mild stomach pain for about a month and a half, it's always only in one location at a time but it travels from left to right to my upper abdomen. Lately it seems to be more localized on my left side just above my hip bone and has over all gotten more and more mild. At times I don't feel a thing.

892237 tn?1249841914 The pain starts in upper mid stomach area then spreads throughout the left side. I had x-rays and ultrasounds which showed a lot of stool. I don't think this is causing my pain because I have been pretty normal in that area although I sometimes I suffer from constipation. My dr. ordered a "stomach emptying scan" hopefully this will determine the cause of my pain.
Avatar m tn No just a pain in lower stomach and my stomach growls alot, I know its gas, but why doesn't it move. Once in awhile I will have sharp pains in my stomach and have to rush to the bathroom. I know thats part of the IBS. But why I get these pains in my stomach only in the morning is strange. My GI doctor just passed it off, like it was nothing. I also noticed that I don't belch that much. Even if I do drink a soda or beer once in a great while, maybe once a year or so.
Avatar n tn your doctor maybr right , about seeing a colon doctor because your digestive system relies heavily on your colon. changes in there would reflect mostly in your upper Gi. hope this helps.

Avatar m tn I sleep good, then as soon as sit up, its like someone switched on an air compressor in my stomach. Well, now the gas pains have gone however I now have a soreness feeling in my upper stomach area along with my lower back. Like I worked out my "truck area" or something. Ive been to Dr, who did an xray and told me to eat 5 prunes aday. Im a 30yr old male, alittle over weight, but not extreme. Im also sorta a hypocondriac so this stuff sorta scares me.
Avatar n tn The only way to find out if you have colon cancer is to have a colonoscopy. I had 1 last fall, and the dr. found a polyp too large for him to remove. It was about 1" in diameter. I don't want to scare you but I didn't have any symptoms at all. The doctor said if I didn't have it taken out in a couple of years it would be cancer. I'm 50 female no family history of colon cancer. I had hemeroids and alot of bleeding from them.
Avatar n tn If pain is on the side in the left lower quadrant, it is possibly from the colon. Some rare condditions like volvulus (a part of the colon twists around its axis) could be possible. Small intestinal hernia would be also posible - this could be probably possible to detect with the hands as a soft lump in the affected area. I guess, ultrasound could be the first investigation and X-ray with barium swallow or enema after that.
Avatar n tn i have gotten a endoscopy and a sigmoidscopy done and in the sigmoidscopy the GI said that ur colon is very clean. and the endoscopy showed a small hernia and some gastritis...
Avatar n tn I'm 19, too...so I guess I'm not going to be much help really...but the only thing I can think of is that maybe you have a lot just in your colon? heh. I'm not sure, and I'm almost positive that I sound dumb...but they say John Wayne's colon weighed nearly 50 lbs at his death due to all the toxins and excess fecal matter trapped in his colon. Maybe try a colon cleanser? Idk...definitely don't just take my word for it.
Avatar n tn I woke one night 6 months ago with a terrible pain in my chest. I was pacing and crying off and on all night. The next morning I saw my regular MD who xrayed my stomach and chest and said I had an air pocket at the top of my stomach and it was not good. He sent me to the hospital for them to pump my stomach (tube going and coming hurt sooo bad!). I went home a lot better. I have continued from time to time to have this same problem. I sometimes throw up with it too.
1391134 tn?1280008443 I have a sharp pain on the left side around my colon. it hurts usually all the time but here and there it doesnt. when i lie down or bend over is when it hurts the most. i didnt wanna go get checked out for something dumb so i wanted to get other opinions on what the deal is.
Avatar m tn Is it possible that diverticulosis may have developed in my ascending colon? The pain in my lower abdomen is not like the pain I had when I had diverticulitis but I can't help but wonder if this is what I have again. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Hi, It is uncommon to experience pain in the upper left abdomen. When you do, it may suggest a stomach, colon, spleen or pancreas problem. Pain in the lower left abdomen often suggests a problem in the lower colon, where food waste is expelled. Possible causes include inflammatory bowel disease or an infection in the colon known as diverticulitis. You could read more about this at - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdominal_pain and http://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar n tn I have had numerous tests by my gastroenterologist, but he diagnosed it as spastic colon. I had colon cancer 22 years ago, and had half my colon removed. I dont have lower abdominal pain , no diarrhea or constipation. It is all upper stomach. Can you help? Please!!
Avatar f tn I need help, so I ended up in the ER one day because of abdominal pain, the ER doc said everything looked normal and he thought it was something viral. I found the CT results from that day online. During the day of the CT I took contrast and threw it up so I'm not sure if that's why it was showing partial gastric outlet obstruction, the ER doc marked me for being allergic to the contrast too..
Avatar f tn Hi I dont want to sound like im a hypercondriac but the abdomial pain that women experince with ovarian cancer is it lower or upper pain. I have upper stomach pain for over a yr now. It comes and goes its really high like right under the v part the ribs and top of stomach. Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with Diverticulosis but I have not been able to get a colonoscopy. (Financial reasons) I have severe stomach pain and have dark purple and sometimes bright red blood in my stool. My stool is never normal. It comes out like pebbles and it looks like it has a layer of fat/oily or clearish white substance that incircles each pebble. I have had hernia surgery and have had 2 feet of intestines removed. Could you give me some insight please before I go to another Dr?
Avatar n tn The gastro doctor tried Despramine for a couple of week started at 50 mg QPM now 100 mg QPM it does not seem to be working he is still in a lot of pain if and when he eats no matter how little or how much, and always as diarrhea after he eats. The doctor told us if this did not work he would send us to Emory. Well, it has been 6 weeks now and he continues to want to just increase the medication.
