clonidine iv

Please help me. I have been tapering my IV dilaudid use for about a week and now have been without anything for 24 hours! I am experiencing hot/cold chills and need to get back to work (as a nurse) on Friday (today is Tuesday). I have had bad diarrhea too and have been taking diazepam, Imodium, benadryl and ibuprofen. I have a doctors appt this evening I think she'll give me clonidine. How long should I expect this to last! Any other home remedies to speak of?

s but only a caring doctor will give it, most would rather see you suffer....i took .1 mg of clonidine 3 times daily...worked tremendously well...if taking clonidine will help get you off your d.o.c.,...take it as your doctor has prescribed it...regardless of what you think MIGHT happen...it does help more than i can describe, i think it is a miracle drug for wd's. i took it for 10 days, then tapered for 3, it is not addictive, but you have to taper to avoid rebound high BP...

is there anyone trying to get off subutex after heroin (snorted not iv) for whom clonidine has helped without serious bp issues?

i've tried clonidine, l-tryosine, magnesium, and benzos and I am doing a freaking jig in my bed with NO relief in sight. Feel like screaming. ANyone have any more ideas?

Hey all, new member long time reader... I know its a little long winded but please take the time to read. I really could use some help! After a severe wreck breaking my back I was sent to a pain management doctor in 2006. Started out with no education with opiates and other meds. Started out taking them as prescribed and them moving on the other ways for the quicker high I realized I was a full blown addict. The Dr was raising/changing my meds every several months.

The flare was so bad they had to remove my colon. I was given Diluadid IV. I have been taking Diluadid IV for 4 months now, about 50mg a day. I decided it was time to stop so this week I started to ween myself off. I am on Day 2 of no Diluadid and feel terrible. What can I do to help with the withdrawals? How long till I feel normal again?

he will start getting better and better by the day if he has 7 days already i was IV heroin user and felt much better by day 10 and felt somewhat back 2 normal after my first 30 days .......tell him to keep up the good work !!!

its insane really.. as iv gone off and on the clonidine and taken diffrent stress mood pills to try and stop it.. but nothing yet ! the verapamil I belive is the problem - and I can't just get off it without weening off slow .. and getting onto something new or diffrent - btw I had back problems and had to take vicodin a few times - belive it or not ,this stopped the nightmares and I slept all night in peace ,woke up no spikes in b.p ?? but who wants to take that stuff !

Wow Jeni I'm not sure. The only time I took Clonidine was for my high blood pressure. I've heard that Clonidine helps with a lot of symptoms of withdrawal including cravings. My doctor gave me Zofran 8 mg for nausea. It worked really well. Sorry I can't be of more help. Hang on for a while.

Thus the reason for the foggy head/headache during the acute phase. The clonidine helped immensely and even helps with sleep.

It is really amazing my pain is completely almost gone, with the exception of a little soreness. I have starting weaning myself from the oxy and was going to ask my doc for some clonidine. How much does it really help with the w/d symptoms?

hi.....i have never used clonidine but it's suppose to be for high BP and also can be used for anxiety from what i've read. I am on a diff med for high BP. Good luck and hope it works for you! i've read that it helps alot of people calm down thru WDs.

second, my doctor prescribed two clonidine patches for me for any withdrawl symptoms. What do these do ? my doc said it woud basically knock me out...love that of course... but, i am hesitant because i had never heard of it... i know it is a little strange for a prescription lover to be afraid of a new drug...weird. but, i would like to hear about some experiences with people who have tried it before. It really works. It will not make you 100% the same as if you were taking the percs but it helps with anxiety, sleeplessness and overall feeling like crap. My doctor gave me 1.0 milligrams with a refill. She is awesome. Yesterday was my full day 2 from all addictive substances (day 9 from Vicodin) and I had some anxiety late afternoon and evening. Took a pill each time and I was fine. Slept a full 8 hours.

My methadone doctor suggested clonidine for these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it and I was wondering if it helps much, and is it worth even taking? Thanks for your responses...

I am going hot and cold and getting hot flashes and really nauseous. My methadone doctor told me that clonidine will help these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it. I was wondering if I should start taking it, I am so uncomfortable. I know this is a slow and low taper, is it worth getting it?

Day 10 got some Clonidine from my doctor, Praise the Lord. Helping some. I may get through this. Not crying as much but still feel overall like crap. How much longer???

WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.

anyone have any info on using Clonidine .1 mg for opiate withdrawal systems? Suppose to be a high blood pressure medication, but says it can be used for withdrawal systems too? wondering if it really works?

Does any1 knw how long you usually have to stay on clonidine after getting off opiates? And am I still considered in detox even tho its bn twelve days?
