Avatar f tn I understand that when you stop taking Clonidine, you must taper off because you can have a rebound effect. How does one taper off the patch?
Avatar m tn while on methadone for 10 years I was taking a quite high dose of clonidine for excessive sweating. The doctor told me to continue on the clonidine and we would taper down on that once I was on a stable dose of suboxone. He said there are no harmful interactions between the two. But whenever I take the clonidine it feels like it is kicking me into withdrawal again. severe agitation anxiety racing heart dizziness and double vision. Whats going on please?
877402 tn?1241569071 Opioid addiction isn't a moral or mental weakness. It's a chronic medical condition that results from changes in the brain in susceptible people. Once narcotic addiction is established, escaping the cycle of detox and relapse is typically a long-term process. Breaking free of prescription drug abuse takes much more than willpower. Fortunately, medications and counseling can improve the chances of success.

585414 tn?1288941302 I understand some of these questions are complex but given that the tardive conditions cause respiratory convulsions and myoclonic spasms any idea that its been of some use would be of great help to me.
Avatar f tn Could you add a symptom to it? "Agitation" I know it's vague, but it's different from anxiety and I don't have a way to indicate it...
4605616 tn?1362003158 Clonidine is an anti-hypertensive med that is NOT "addicting". That being said, after being on it for a few weeks, it's recommended that it be weaned, due to rebound hypertension issues. Klonopin (or Clonazepam) is a benzodiazepine, (anti-anxiety medication) that can be habit-forming. These two meds gets mixed up a lot.
Avatar f tn Adderal is of course used for ADHD but it can sometimes cause agitation so if his behavior became worse since he started taking it you need to call that to their attention. If nothing is helping you should consult with a child psychiatrist who has specific understanding in this area.
Avatar f tn Thanks for clearing that up! I was wondering if 3.5 was a new pill! You are lucky to have Clonidine and Klonopin. They will be very helpful. Be careful with Ultram it can be addictive. Most people on this forum say that day 2 is the worst. WDs usually last 3 - 5 days. You will feel like you have the flu. 16 hours is a start. Keep posting. Let us know how you are doing.
Avatar f tn Kids at school are beginning to notice and are asking her about it. I have been given a prescription for Clonidine. Has anyone tried Clonidine? Was the Clonidine successful? What side effects were seen?
915211 tn?1243899281 I actually once did Suboxone when I went to rehab (the one place that acknowledged my problem) and it worked after 7 days, but then the insomnia continued for the next week till I was put back on the buprenorphine in preparation for surgery for hip problems-- the thing which exacerbated my addiction-. I took/take enormous amounts of the drug- up to 60 of the 50mg pills per day. I would wake up and pop about 18 of them, then just keep taking more and more throughout the day.
767538 tn?1276575320 Im not sure if it would help but have you tried clonidine, maybe some melatonin or l-tryptophan for sleep. I took 3-5mgs of melatonin at night and it would allow me to get a few hrs of sleep. The clonidine can help with your blood pressure and the overall jitters. The one other thing is excercise, I know thats probably the last thing you want to do, but even a brisk walk can help calm you down.
401554 tn?1270213756 For the last 5 yrs I've been taken the clonidine patch for high BP, no side effects, but the PVC's are still there off and on.
Avatar f tn I am taking clonidine for my Subutex withdrawal. It has definetly helped with the anxious creepy crawly feeling. It also helped with hot flashes. I wasn't given any info on not to mix it with pain meds, but you may want to call you doctor to find out. Or even a pharmacist might be able to tell. good luck!

Avatar m tn I have extreme agitation and tension where I feel like I am going to explode or go insane. I never had this with my anxiety until I got off benzos 20 years ago. My agitation is almost constant - I have to walk and pace all day. Has anyone else had this severe agitation and tension not caused by drugs but feel like it is all anxiety.
Avatar m tn I went to see my doc and he wants me to continue taking the conidine and ativan but to reduce the clonidine to .1 for two days, then 05 for a day then stop it. He advised just to take the avtivan at night until I can fall alseep on my own. He also gave me some roxicet and told me to take 3 today, 2 tomorrow and one the next day. He claims this will help me with cravings until I get into rehab where I can get something tradition for the craving...I start rehab on Monday and it lasts 5 weeks.....
Avatar f tn Clonidine was initially used as an antihypertensive but it has come to be used to treat a variety of behavioral disorders including tics, symptoms of ADHD, aggression, PTSD, anxiety, panic disorder, or sleep problems. Medication of this sort can be helpful and has shown to be most effective in conjunction with systematic behavioral programming.

1032898 tn?1258598707 I did tell the doc that I was withdrawing now and that I was addicted. Being on this site has been my saving grace. I lurk here off and on all day, getting support by reading other posts. I REALLY want my life back, I just pray that I can stay strong. Tomorrow I wean down to 1 pill per day. I'm going to do that for 2 days then 1/2 for 2 days. Then none. Thanks all for the super support.
880900 tn?1467270141 WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn hi.....i have never used clonidine but it's suppose to be for high BP and also can be used for anxiety from what i've read. I am on a diff med for high BP. Good luck and hope it works for you! i've read that it helps alot of people calm down thru WDs.
