Headache on left front side with a crazy visual aura, took zomig, hour later took ibuprofen 600, albuterol sulfate and Ritalin. Cold and hot feeling across skin, mostly on right side, nausea, joint pain, burning pain in abdomen and chest, dizzy, tired and short of breath. Migrating sharp pains across body. Ringing ears. Vision is unnaturally blurry. Chest and stomach symptoms worsen when laying down, head symptoms worsen when standing up.
In adults, Adderall and Dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine) are often well-tolerated. As is Ritalin. Some meds are generally more successful in children, such as Focalin and Daytrana.
As far as non-stimulants, some people with hyperactivity find that Clonidine helps them. Strattera also does help some people, but many get some pretty wicked side effects from it - myself included.
All in all, finding an ADD med that works for you is a matter of trial and error by you and your doctor.
It is one of the side effects of Ritalin perhaps you should ask your Doctor for a new evaluation of the Med, if you ever decide to let him be on Natural Remedies, it has been shown in studies that food supplements have the same efficacy as Ritalin and a Muliple Vitamin-mineral with B Complex and Vit C also Fish oil, would be good, a lot of Parents are trying this now and their children and not getting the bad side effects that Ritalin and the other meds have.
I am on wonderful medication that is really helping me. I am on 50mg Ritalin and 75mg Effexor. However any new drug I get given knocks me and when I sometimes take my last dose of Ritalin my eyes start vibrating,all my muscles go tight and my eyes vibrate. This seems so unfair. Does this mean my body will eventually reject all meds. Please tell me this is not so. I am so happy on my medication.
ritalin, restpordol(sp???), Concerta, and clonodine (help him sleep) but they work for just a while. He can be perfectly fine one minute and extremely mad over something so small the next.... not to mention that he runs full charge all day. Anyway, he has been getting a lot more aggressive here lately for no apparent reason. I mean nothing has changed in our home. His grandmother watches him in the afternoon while I work and then he is with me the rest of the day.
My doc gave me Ritalin for ADD and Effexor for depression but this last one gave me too many side effects and I stopped taking it. Now he switched me to Wellbutrin (150 mg once a day) and 30 mg Ritalin. I have felt sick but am not sure if it is the withdrawal effects from stopping Effexor or the mixture of Wellbutrin and Ritalin. I feel brain spasms, especially in the back of my head. Today I did not take the Ritalin and felt no spasms.
I do believe that it has been around the longest, and there is more information on it then the others. Ritalin is a stimulant med that helps to "slow" the brain making it so that they can function better. 40 mg seems a little high to me especially if you are just starting out. my kids always started out on 5mg. If it has a xr on the bottle then that means that it is extended release and made to trickle through the day. The good thing about it is that it is a off on med.

I am a 30 year old who started taking ritalin and concerta (36mg - 72mg) on a regular basis for about 6 months about a year and a half ago. As a consequence I experienced erectile dysfunction. I stopped taking the meds and I still have erectile dysfunction. I have been off the meds for over a year now and I have not recovered my erectile function. I can only get a semi if I try really hard. I don't get morning boners any more and I don't get proper hard ons when watching porn either.
(I am feeling withdrawl, cold, night leg shakes, sweat, uncontrollable yawning, and the dreaded running to the restroom) Does anyone know if RITALIN and/or PROVIGIL will ease my lack of motivation and energy untill the WD passes? It is now Sunday. I have not taken any opiates since Thursday and am feeling WD, yet am alone at my apt, thinking of "scoring" just 2-3 hydros to make it go away.....My first post, sorry so long. I have been on 2 10/325 3 times a day since December since I broke my kneecap and found out I have a very rare wrist condition I was supposed to have surgery on on the 22 nd. I also have ADHD and been on Ritalin. I have weened myself down by a half a pill a day. Yesterday was the last one and I feel terrible. My back hurts I have no energy and I can't think straight. How long will this last and how bad will it be to come off the Ritalin?

ve been to 2 cardiologists and had 2 echos and multiple EKGs. I was assured that my heart was structurally sound and the PVCs were annoying but not dangerous. I felt okay with this answer and even though they bothered me, they didn't bother me as much after I saw 2 different cardiologists and got the same answer.
Recently I have been put on Wellbutrin and Ritalin for my depression by my psychiatrist. I told him about my PVCs and he didn't seem concerned.
but I agree with severance...when I was in my 20's and thought I was invincible, as many people do in their 20's, we'd call Ritalin "the poor man's cocaine" and crush it up and snort it...I didn't do this that many times, because I'd speed myself up and do so much and get totally exhausted and sleep 24 hours afterward...
that's why I stopped taking it, though many of friend's continued...
