Avatar f tn yes it does help but it will knock you on your ***, dry mouth, go to the vitamin store and get L-tyrosine, and get SAM-e, also get melatonin for sleep, either get a potassium supplement for the leg stuff or eat alot of bananas, hope this helps
Avatar f tn It is a normal part of detoxing. If you are detoxing off of benzo's (xanax, valium etc) or alcohol you need to see a doctor to have your blood pressure monitored and controlled w/meds.( or if you have underlying heart disease) Otherwise just wait it out. It is uncomfortable and goes along w/some anxiety. Take vitamins that have magnesium, calcium and potassium in them. If you can't find potassium supplements...eat bananas.
Avatar f tn i want to start this detox cold turkey today from oxy snorting 3-4 a day my doctor i asked him for clonidine and he gave me atenolol 50 mg twice a day instead not getting anyone to let me know i googled it is used for alcohol withdrawals... can find anything on it .... will it work as well or the same as clonidine? also he gave me tramadol which i already no i very addicting to, but he said do not abuse and take only when needed it will be alot of help. i also have .
Avatar f tn I have elevated sodium levels,(I follow a low sodium diet) and occassionally have very low potassium levels. I am currently taking the maximum dosage of Toprol, clonidine, spironolactone and lisinopril. This worked fine for several weeks but now my pressure is climbing again, does anyone else have this problem? My test results for various test keep coming back inconclusive or they keep saying different medications may be throwing th results off.
Avatar f tn Exercise if you can, even a walk, if only for 5 or 10 minutes, try and push yourself. Bananas for potassium, a good mutli-vitamin, maybe Melatonin and/or Valerian Root at night to help with sleep. Long, hot baths will help with muscle pain and you can add some Epsom salts to help as well. Keep posting as well and let us know how you are doing. It helps to talk to others going through the same thing. You can do this!
Avatar n tn I agree with Ibkleen and hops ! The only thing I can add is taking bonemeal, multivitimans and antioxidants was something that may have helped. Each day will get better for sure.
1935252 tn?1329757119 How much clonidine are you taking? How often? I'm on day 6 of opiate withdrawal and taking .1mg every 4 hrs-but I was taking a lower dosage while tapering my meds before jumping off cold turkey. The symptoms it helps are the racing heart and the gastrointestinal-everybody is different. It doesn't stop the sweating, chills, or the RLS which for me has been the worst besides the sleep deprivation. Consider upping your dosage but make sure you keep an eye on your blood pressure.
Avatar f tn the nurse suggested i get some clonidine gravol and immodioum i was wondering is there anything else out there that can make my stay at the detox facility more comfortable because i know that i am going to be in rough shape for that week and probably weeks to follow as it has been four or five years abusing these pills and as u may kno your tolerance just keeps going up and up!!
1929696 tn?1323286839 I went and bought potassium, melatonin, b6, and taking a multi vitamin.dues anyone know how long the cramps last?
Avatar f tn Has anyone any experience with Clonidine and Lassix in pregnancy? Do they cause miscarriages?
Avatar f tn A little over a Year ago, I finally broke down and got the Clonindine.I only used it for a month and at night only. They have been prescribing this and Buspar a non-addictive med for Anxiety and for years now for opiate detox. The best thing you can be doing right now is vit/min. Get some protein powder and electrolyte powder. Magnesium is the best for detox. It will help draw out poisons and also help relax you..
Avatar n tn As Lulu747 I also used clonidine while tapering off opiates and just wanted off and went cold turkey over a year ago. (morphine sulfate and fentanyl patch). The clonidine did help with my w/d symptoms as well.
Avatar n tn my son takes clonidine, he has adhd and the drugs he takes to treat the adhd stop him sleeping so he takes the clonidine for that. didnt know it could be used to help with w/d's, apparently clonidine started life as a treatment for high blood pressure but now has many uses. dont know if there are w/d's from clonidine but my sons doc told us never to take him straight of it because it would cause his blood pressure to rocket.
1935252 tn?1329757119 Today is day 6 of my journey through this w/d hell, and I'm still not feeling any better... I don't know what to do now, I'm vomiting none stop it seems and my head feels like it's gonna explode! My emotions are out of control and my kids and husband are looking at me like I'm dying, and I feel like it... I'm an emotional mess and I'm no better physically. How much longer do I have to battle this?
Avatar n tn I have been able to somewhat negotiate the mental confusion, crying spells, depression etcThe reason I got off the oxy and lyrica was because they were not helping with the chronic back pain and i was nodding off all the time.Talk about doing a 180 turn aroundin less than 4 days! The rls syndrome has to go and I do not want to take any more opiates.Something other than 3 weeks of torture must be able to help?
Avatar f tn Hello, yes I have been taking this combination of Vyvanse (70mg per day in the am) and Clonidine (0.2mg in the afternoon and 0.2mg at night). I highly prefer Vyvanse over adderall because I do not suffer from side effects w/Vyvanse as with the adderall. The Vyvanse is much smoother than most all other adhd drugs. I have never experienced shortness of breath while taking Vyvanse, however, I am 25 years old and 180lbs. I am also a Registered Nurse.
374251 tn?1246235657 t want to go back to same clinic and I no longer had much money for it anyway. I did research and ordered Clonidine, Atarax, and Catapres from an online pharmacy which would ship without Rx. Results weren't very positive. Clonidine didn't do much for me, Atarax helped me sleep a bit and Catapres didn't do a while lot either. I don't remember the dose I took of Clonidine but they were .15mg pills, so I prob took one twice a day.
Avatar f tn My son is ADHD and was having alot of trouble sleping at night and was prescribed clonidine. It had not affect on him and he continued to wake up and wander during the night. I discovered that this medication is a blood pressure medication and our pediatrician was not monitoring him while he was on this. We also have tried the melatonin and he was up to 3mg a night and it had no affect.
Avatar m tn Ive always liked to use clonidine when I was detoxing, it did help relax me and lessen some of jittery, nervous energy. Hopefully the clonidine helps ease some of the symptoms, I would also get some immodium, some short of short term sleeping aid and lots of fluids. The vitamins and amino acids can really help with getting some energy, but thats all up to you. I wish you the best of luck, you can do this!
656243 tn?1231288052 t have good health insurance and a standard physician prescribes their psychiatric medications which is not advisable. I am assuming you are seeing a psychiatrist and as for Clonidine and Effexor interacting I have not heard of that one but you should ask them to look it up. They all have a PDR and more importantly I know my psychopharmocologist has a palm pilot where he can look up any medications and see how they interact and has access to information that only a physician would.
Avatar m tn I ran out two weeks early. I was honest with my dr and he put me on clonidine 3 pills a day for 3 days and a patch. It worked I almost feel like my old self. When he refills my meds next week I'm going to not take them unless I am in extreme pain. Learned my lesson!
Avatar f tn I am already starting to get withdrawal symptoms which surprises me as this is not really a small dose. I am going hot and cold and getting hot flashes and really nauseous. My methadone doctor told me that clonidine will help these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it. I was wondering if I should start taking it, I am so uncomfortable. I know this is a slow and low taper, is it worth getting it?
880900 tn?1467270141 WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.
