Avatar n tn I am a 48 year old female. I have a strong history of heart disease in paternal grandfather and father. Both died at an early age. I have had PACs and PVCs and IST for the last few years. I have had echocardiograms, EKGs, stress tests, etc. In the last month I have experienced chest pain that is localized around my left breastbone to the left of the center of my chest. It usually occurs after 15 minutes of exercise. I don't have shortness of breath or a radiating pain.
Avatar f tn After I exercise I have a sharp pain in my chest. It can occur either minutes after exercise or hours. Its a sharp pain usually on my left or right side of my chest and it hurts worse when I breathe and when I turn my body to the side. It usually goes away within seconds but during the pain I try to keep still to minimize the pain. I have gotten x-rays and some other type of test but Doctors say my heart is fine. This has been happening for several years and I am now 20 years old.
Avatar m tn it is as if a vise is closing around the chest. The other symptoms are pain in the left arm and pain even in the neck area to raised pulse, sweating and dizziness these all can be an anxiety attack as well. But the pain in the chest like a steel band is being tightened seems to be the deciding factor that speaks of a heart attack.Im not sure of the intensity of your pain.
Avatar m tn However it can be due to infection, blow, injury, or fibromyalgia. It usually goes away on its own. Otherwise it can be treated with muscle relaxants, and non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs. It can also be muscle pull. Shingles can also start this way. Pleuritis and Pulmonary embolism are other possibilities causing shortness of breath with chest pain. A CT scan of the chest can rule out both. Another possibility that can explain the pain is pericarditis.
1460557 tn?1285780786 Ive no shortness of breath, no dizzy spells, no pains down my arms. The pain can be quite severe but goes away after an hour or so after exercising. Id really appreciate any information you can give me.
Avatar m tn If the pain is aggravated with work or exercise then it could be due to cardiac pain. But when in doubt always best to have it checked. So please consult your primary care physician who may ask for an EKG or a treadmill test to rule out a cardiac cause for the pain. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I agree with Mommy. This doesn't sound like it has anything to do with the heart, but everything to do with the skeleton. I wouldn't wait for it to go away, though. You should definitely talk to someone who could help. An athletic therapist would be the best. Sorry for your pain, but don't worry, it will go away!
Avatar f tn In January this year, I suddenly became aware of a left sided chest pain. This continued until I got to the point where my chest pains were prompting panic attacks! I have since got these under control but am still suffering constant chest pains on and off every day. I have had 3 ecg's, a chest X-ray and this week (all normal) and I will be having a CT scan and 24 hour event monitor this week. Most doctors have told me this is likely to be muscle related which I am willing to accept.
Avatar f tn It only lasted about a minute then goes away. Once I start moving around it seems to go away. No other symptoms with it, other than the ones I create from my panic:) Is this something I should go back to my cardiologist with even though he told me that my heart was in great shape? Could it just be muscle pain? I'm scared. Thanks!
Avatar m tn She gets these attacks where she gets bad crushing feeling in chest along with jaw and arm pain along with arm numbness. We have gone to er and have had many ekgs it always comes out that her heart is fine. She does have low iron and she’s had low potassium before. The pain has been getting worse and it’s been really affecting her she gets scared she’s gonna die. She’s tried taking meds and even still she’s in pain. She’s allergic to aspirin so she can’t take that.
Avatar f tn It can be COSTOCHONDRITIS, an inflammation of the joints in your chest. Costochondritis usually goes away on its own. Try an anti-inflammatory medicine to relieve the pain. Heat compresses may also help. If the symptoms persist then get an evaluation done from a physician. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar n tn Another thing that might be considered is possible problems with the gallbladder which can result in pain in the chest or pain that moves into the back.
Avatar m tn Never had palpitation. When I exercise it goes away completely. Two minutes after exercise my heart goes to below 85 from 135. Then PAC appears. I am taking Atenolol 25 mg but it does not make a difference. my questions: 1) is this dangerous? 2) should I get treatment or as many says, it is benign?
Avatar f tn About a month ago I went to a cardiologist as I’d had some minor chest pain on my left side. Occasionally sharp. Other times achey. But mostly brief. Occasionally long if it was the achey kind. No shortness of breath. No chest tightness. No issues during exercise. Some soreness on my back like under my left shoulder blade. It’s definitely not GERD or muscle related. So cardiologist did ekg then stress test. All looked good. No restrictions on exercise.
Avatar m tn If your chest pain is angina, a nitro pill will relieve the symptoms. The probability is very high that chest pain with exercise and relief with rest is heart related. You should have a cardiologist evaluate to rule out any heart problems, and even if the chest pain subsides that doesn't mean you don't have a heart condition as often there is no chest pain with a heart event. Thanks for sharing, and if you have any further questions or comments you are invited to respond.
Avatar n tn My biking friends have all told me its fine you dont ride enough we all had it you need to push through the pain but It squeezes my lower chest where i stop. This is a problem because i want to start racing and I cannot push as hard as i want.
Avatar m tn The cardiologist I saw told me that I should not worry about pain after exercise, only pain during exercise, especially if it goes away right after stopping. My concern, of course, is still the chest pain. I was just able to make another appt with a cardiologist and will insist on an angiogram just to be sure.
