ID docs are known to be great Lyme deniers all too often. Wish I could say I'm surprised, but it seems they will bend over backward not to see the Lyme in front of them. That said, perhaps you do have Q fever too. I don't recall anyone mentioning it here on this site in the several years I've been lurking around, but if Lyme has taught me one thing, it's not to underestimate Mother Nature.
Firstly I would like to say that none of your sexual encounters would have involved any real risk of HIV infection for you. The penetration was protected and you only received oral sex, which does not involve a HIV risk. Therefore I would very much doubt that you have been infected. I believe that your symptoms are unrelated and as non-specific symptoms, they could be symptoms of hundreds of other conditions, much more common that HIV. Also Pentasa can cause some of these.
my father is 78 years and was a chain smoker for 30 yrs but had left smoking since the last 15yrs. 25 days back he had fever so ou GP treated him for malaria and gave him larigo . the fever subsided but after 5 days it was back and it is between 100-102 C . He has cough too. So CBC and x-ray of lung was done . both the reports were normal. the urine report showed trces of occult blood and 1-2 pus cells. Hence urine culture was advised. the report is awaited.
Well, it seems like you're just another paranoid guy like me. Colds and fever have generally something to do with HIV. BUT don't worry, you should take a complete set of STD tests. I think I'll take that HIV test, too. My case is similar, I was the receiver of oral sex by a female and I got discharge. I've took almost all STD tests, except HIV.
i am worried , right one week of after exposure i am having mild fever. almost two weeks gone i still have fever and white coated tongue. i am very much worried about my situation now. kindly tell me if i am on risk or not. This relaxed me considerably, but recently I was reading about signs of early HIV infection and got nervous again. I remembered that roughly a week to 10 days after the incident I developed a short 12-hour fever with virtually no other symptoms (no swollen glands, no vomiting, no sore throat, etc). I am not sure what caused the fever. I was under a tremendous amount of stress right after the incident and didn't eat or sleep well for almost that entire week.
There is nothing about MS that would cause a fever. You need to get this checked and treated if possible. If there is an infection it might rev up the immune system and cause a relapse (if you have MS). This is to be avoided at all costs.
Besides, fevers are an indication there is something wrong. Please get it checked.
Today, I have a sharp pain in my lower left abdomen, just left of my belly button and the right side of my neck still feels stiff and I feel slight pain under my right jaw. I have been chain smoking excessively the past 2 weeks due to the fear of catching HIV, and haven't slept much. Even with the negative test results, it did not calm my fear due to the of window period between possible HIV exposure and a HIV test.
I gave oral sex (licked anus/vagina for around 1 minute) to a sex worker around 3 months ago and I had some symptoms which started around 2 weeks after exposure which includes fever up to 100 for 2 days .... itching and redness due to itching (lasted for 2-3 weeks), Felt extremes fatigue, weakness and low fever around 99.3 on/off for more than 2 months. But the swab test showed Gram Positive Cocci in group and small chain. I am guessing it is the bacterial infection i caught from the anilingus.
Upon seeing the tests the doctor prescribed me Clotrimazole mouth paint, Azithromicin 500 mg for 3 days and Fluconazole 150 mg on alternate days.
It has been 5 days since i have been taking the prescription but there is no visible changes in the throat infection. Infact my tongue and palate has turned numb due to the constant use of mouth paint.
The symptoms are Dry cough, Fever, and shortness of breath. Most people are stating that it starts with a dry cough that doesnt produce mucos. I know me I have had a cough and headache issues for over two weeks now. However, I always have allergy issues right around this time of year. Therefore, I am not concern. I would say if you dont have fever nothing to rush out and be checked for. Be cautious though if needed and get checked.
He diagnosed me with a past infection of Q fever and said because I did extensive travel in areas noted for Q fever he felt the titers were correct. I now know that the EBV can mimick Q fever so I believe that was the problem all along as does my current doctor. There is not a medication I have been able to take that has not put me in the hospital. I was finally diagnosed with Anti-convulsant hypersensitivty syndrome related directly to the EBV.
