Most of the other medication (effexor, Prozac, Zoloft) produce side effects which I did not care for. My doctor and I finally gave Celexa a try. I was taking low dosages (10mg daily) of Celexa and I was doing fine. A few months back my doctor suggested I try Lexapro. I have found that most of the bad side effects of Celexa have been eliminated with this new and so far wonderful medication, I am currently taking 10mg Lexapro daily.
I don't know of any specific reports, but what you have observed in a real phenomenon, and is the reason that people stop drinking. Having 8 drinks is already much to much for a social drinker. You might get some testimonials from members of aa to help your husband, but its really best just to stay off of alcohol and continue to show him and tell him what you are feeling.
there are lots of herbal/vitamin remedies on market ( i just googled for natural remedies for OCD) that included remedies called amoryn, mindsoothe, purecalm and so on, i didn't use any of them, but reading the testimonials, there were many from previous ocd sufferers who got help from the herbal products, maybe they could help you too. Also, a woman called Mary Reed cured her own ocd with natural remedies and now helps others with the stuff that she used on herself to get better.
I have tried zoloft, wellbutrin, paxil, celexa, effexor, and prozac. The only one that I was able to tolerate was celexa. Even then, I was only taking 10mg--barely a therapeutic dose according to most MD's and PhD's. Whenever I would increase my dose, I would feelt that sensation of restless legs, nausea, nervousness,DIZZINESS to the tenth degree, and orthostatic hypotension.
After being off medication for 4 months my illness came back in Fall 2008 and I received inection of cojectin, copixol, and ativan, and then physiatrist prescribed celexa and seroquol, and then switched from seroquol to olonzapine because serouqol was not working well. Doctor said I have to take these for at least a year, and might forever.
When I was given my RX for vicoprophen, he had me on 2 a day for migraines and back pain, L4-L5 rupture. And he also gave me some Celexa. Said the Celexa would block out geting addicted to Vico's. THAT was 3 years ago!!! HA! I almost begged him to change me off vicos because if I went a day without I had some symptoms, he told me it was not possible. But sure enough- here I am in day 5 and just recovering from some of the w/d symptoms. So- do I completely blame him?
I hope the following can help. My wife and 3 of 4 kids were all on meds from Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Effexor, and Celexa. They all experienced alot of severe side-effects and now that we realize that they're reactive hypoglycemics, no more anxiety, no more meds. When your blood sugar get's low as a reactive then the adrenal gland kicks in adrenaline that the brain can use and unfortunately the person can perceive this as fight or flight.
My family members were misdiagnosed with anxiety disorders, depression and sufferred all the bad side-effects of Prozac,Paxil, celexa, and effexor, until we found out through a great biopsychologist/nutrionist that hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) can cause anxiety and depression along with bipolar. My oldest daughter experienced all the same highs and lows. After being put on Celexa she began cutting herself. My second daughter was placed on Paxil, experienced adnormally violent dreams and actually got up and checked on us to make sure she hadn't actually killed us. We found out since through a great Biopsychologist/nutrionist, Dr. Ann Blake Tracy that we as a family were probably reactive hypoglycemic. We began to look at our eating habits and yes we eat way too much sugary ****.
I find my energy increasing about 2 hours later... I am also on thyroid medicine and antidepressant Celexa. Pharmacist said I should be ok with just taking 1000 mg a day. No side effects....I am pleased with this discovery. My poor little body needs nutrients....so does my brain!!!
All had bad experiences with Prozak, Paxil, Celexa and Effexor. Decreased Libido, increased libido, amnesia, abnormally violent dreams, visual and audio hallucinations. My son was arrested after having a psychotic break and going to school with a rifle. He was eventually released on probation. We found with the help of a great psychologist/nutrionist that reactive hypoglycemia was more than likely the problem. Sure enough cutting back on the sugary stuff has helped them to get back to normal.
Then klonopin that really helped... Now at 38 im on celexa which is great but feel memory loss..
Right after that I got the Hep A and B shots, started switching from Celexa to Prozac to Effexor to Paxil trying to get some relief from my depression that I had been treating for years with Budwieser (cheap and dirty but effective nonetheless). Eventually my viral load had risen to an all time high of 8,090,000 iu/ml as of 8/7/03. My latest test from 9/22/03 showed it at 6,340,000 iu/ml. So I hope that I am over the effects of the drugs and the vaccinations.
I, of course, have verified this online. Note that I did try an SSRI (Celexa) for about 9 months and all of my physical symptoms went away (other than my occasionally numb fingers and parasthesia in my left arm from the hernaited disc). Even my backache went away. I went off of Celexa because I felt so good I was ready to have another child. Of course about 4 months later I was back to my symptoms.
She doesn't think she is anxious, stressed or depressed. The tried celexa for 6 weeks and it did nothing, now she is on her second week of Cymbalta. Waiting for it to kick in. She is also going to start therapy.
Type that into a google search. The site in Birmingham MI is the one that helped me. Check out the testimonials and symptoms. The ones about driving are what interested me. There is no surgery and no meds. After going to all sorts of specialists, including MRI, CT scan, ENT, ENG and countless blood tests, all negative, it was the only thing that worked. Unfortunately. There are only three specialists in the USA. One in California, Texas and Michigan.

org/mental/panic_disorder_anxiety_attack_symptom_treatment.htm I have just started taking Nexium for the GERD and Celexa for the anxiety side, don't know if they'll work. Best wishes to all.
At the chiropractors office I read one of the chicken soup for the soul books that was nothing but testimonials from chiropractic patients. I had always been lead to believe that chiropractors are quacks. Believe me that is not true. If the doctor can't find anything wrong... then go to a good chiropractor (one that will do xrays). If you hurt worse after going to the Chiropractor then find a different Chiropractor. Even Children should go...
I currently take Provigil (daytime) and Celexa (nightime). I also have trouble staying awake w/o Provigil. For years my sleepiness, irritability, etc. were blamed on depression. It has been a valid diagnosis as far as I can tell. I can function fairly well now. I am a 48 yr. old male. Hope this helps. I would seek out some studies via a neurologist.
