Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?

572651 tn?1530999357 If you go through the listing on the left side of the page, any of the presentations that are in BLUE have a powerpoint presentation connected. Save the ppt to your computer and then view it normally. again, I wish we had access to the entire presentation and not just the slides, but there is still lots of meaty content here. http://cmsc.omnibooksonline.com/index.
Avatar m tn Due to stomach problems, I have decided to try a Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Has anyone experienced relief on this diet? So basically, this is what I got from it- fresh vegtables, fresh fruits, lean meats, most nuts, NO LACTOSE, NO SUGAR (except in fruits and honey), and NO STARCHES. Is this about right? Also, what is the policy on yogurt and coconut milk?
Avatar m tn Hello everyone, For one of my college courses, I did research on the Biopsychosocial approach to Asthma. I created my powerpoint into a video, added narrations, and uploaded it on youtube. I did this for educational purposes. I feel that I found good information that has to be shared. In addition, I feel that the Biopsychosocial model is often neglected and needs to be promoted. The video is perfect. I stumbled a few times and mispronounced medical terms (I am not a medical doctor).
Avatar f tn When used in larger amounts, as in cooking and baking, these calories and carbohydrate should be accounted for by carbohydrate counting or by using starch/bread exchanges. As an example, one half cup of SPLENDA® Granulated contributes 12 grams of carbohydrates and 11 to 20 grams are counted as one starch exchange. In SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener Packets, sucralose is combined with maltodextrin and dextrose. These ingredients contribute 1 gram of carbohydrate and four calories per packet.
717272 tn?1277590780 I joined this site. It has lots of good stuff. You can download Powerpoint presentations for a lot of the articles. It's a little bit technical, but for the most part understandable. I haven't read this last one yet...trying to get through my last couple days of tx. Not feeling too good.
408795 tn?1324935675 Anyways I just posted this to share some information I ran across. Here are a couple of links; the top one has a powerpoint presentation on HepC101 and the bottom link is the fda link and if you just go to their search box and type in HCV a wealth of information will come up. This is certainly not like asking a question and getting the support of the forum, but it could be useful information. God Bless http://www.bi-valley.com/Pages/HepC101.htm www.fda.

Avatar m tn Your blood glucose increase is most likely caused by what you ate. 5 pieces of bread is a lot of carbohydrate. Additionally some vegetables (carrots included) have a high carbohydrate content.
Avatar n tn This is logical for the type 2 diabetic, for eating a fairly low-carbohydrate diet would not require the production of as much insulin by the already stressed pancreas. However, if insulin resistance is the main problem for a type 2 diabetic, then lowering the carb count may not really be the solution, and medications to help the insulin-resistance problem still may be needed.
Avatar f tn A healthy diet, moderate exercise and pharmaceutical grade nutritional supplements to help break the cycle of carbohydrate cravings. They recommend 60 to 70 grams of protein a day. For fats, saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, with an emphasis on polyunsaturated, to help you feel satisfied and less likely to overeat. Avoid oxidized or rancid fats, trans-fatty acids and hydrogenated fats. Eat complex carbohydrates, which help to moderate blood sugar swings and provide fiber.

Avatar f tn Check out the specific carbohydrate (SCD). I found out about this diet on YouTube (Crohn's boy). He started SCD and he got rid of his symptoms and could stop taking medication.
1266263 tn?1270153368 When you deplete your glycogen stores, as can happen during repeated days of hard training and a low carbohydrate diet, you feel overwhelmingly exhausted. Eating high carbohydrate foods like cereal, pancakes, bread, fruit, vegetables, potato, pasta on a daily basis can help you train harder and compete better. All the best.
Avatar f tn m not sure if I need to see an Allergist, ENT, Gastroenterologist, Internist or who because about an hour after eating a carbohydrate I seem to get inflammation and swelling on my right side only...starting in my right sinuses, behind right eye, right ear, right throat, right lymph gland in neck, and going in a straight line down the right side of my chest and down to my right kidney. If I only eat meat, salads, and non starchy vegetables, water and plain tea, I don't have any symptoms.
Avatar f tn If following a 1,500-calorie diet then 675 to 975 of those calories should be from carbs 168 to 240 grams of carbohydrate. On a 2,000-calorie diet, it would be between 900 and 1,300 calories or 225 to 325 grams of carbohydrate. When choosing carbs, the focus should be on healthy carb. sources, like fruits and vegetables, along with healthier complex carbs like whole grains. Healthy carbs. provide fuel for the body and they also contain fiber.
Avatar m tn Hi, You can stick to protein-rich foods and eliminate nearly all fat and limit carbohydrate intake to lose weight. When your body finds that it does not have any carbohydrate easily available to it, it will start breaking down the fat to get energy and ends up burning more calories in the process. You should be careful to include carbohydrates in your diet so that you do not end up developing a carbohydrate craving resulting in binge eating.
