Low bmi has restrained my physical activity. my chief problem is steatorrhea and recurrent small bowel infections for which gastroenterologist prescribe me antibiotics for 3 months at a time along with folic acid and probiotic supplements.jejunal biopsy 3 years back showed little villous atrophy.no giardia in aspirate.
Avatar n tn vegitables (Green is Best) stay away from anything white, white rice, white bread, starchy foods, fried potatos, and foods high is salt and sugar. I would also add a good probiotic, or eat lots of yogurt if you like it. Have you been on an anti-biotic treatment lately?

Both are just fancy names for the fact that my body doesn't make enough enzymes to break down and properly absorb carbohydrates. Like ruffmagruff, i developed this out of the blue after having a bad stomach bug. took about 14 months of being pretty miserable before we figured out what what up. It was a total fluke: i wanted to lose about 10 lbs so i tried the south beach diet.

I have had bowel problems and chronic flatulence for nearly seven years now, but i stopped eating fatty foods recently and saw a massive reduction in my symptoms. I think this is beacause it's malabsorption. I also had a blood test done recently that showed low floate levels, low calcium and low albumin.

According to my gastro, a bad viral infection I acquired almost 18 months ago knocked out only my lactase enzymes, but also the enzymes neccessary to break down sugars, most carbs and all starches. I also became seriously sensitive to fructose, the sugar found in fruit.

Avatar n tn I think you're making a common mistake in thinking about food, which is that protein is good and carbs are bad. This isn't at all true -- the majority of your diet should be carbs. Vegetables, for example, the core of a healthy diet, are carbs, whereas beef is very high in fat on purpose and hard to digest despite being high in protein and so is never weight-loss food.

The malabsorption affects what we get naturally thru eating foods as well as thru supplements May I ask if u had a PH test done recently?....many can have too little acid, but feel the same as when it was too much.....it is best to be checked to be sure u r treating for the right issue....

High amounts of carbohydrate foods at one meal tend to get people tried due to the increase/drop of the sugar levels in the blood. Maybe look at periods of stress in your job due to certain timetables, such as an accountant very busy at the beginning of a year due to income tax time, etc. Our bodies get fatigued from high amounts of stress.
