Avatar f tn Hi there, I am a 31 year old female recently diagnosed with Dissacharidase Deficiency, otherwise known as carbohydrate malabsorption. According to my gastro, a bad viral infection I acquired almost 18 months ago knocked out only my lactase enzymes, but also the enzymes neccessary to break down sugars, most carbs and all starches. I also became seriously sensitive to fructose, the sugar found in fruit.
Avatar n tn Have you been tested for fat malabsorption? That condition can also result in a foul-smelling stool.

However, that would most likely would only be the situation if you have a long standing history since childhood of gi issues. People also can develop an oat allergy as an adult. https://www.healthline.com/health/oat-allergy As to your question if your usage of Doxycycline would result in a long standing post usage side effect, that is unlikely but not impossible.
Business woman1 But one has to rule out the other possibilities like IBS {irritable bowel syndrome, bacterial overgrowth of the small intestine, Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative Colitis, carbohydrate {sugar} malabsorption, hyperthyroidism, Addison’s disease or may be due to laxative abuse. Take adequate amount of fluids and oral rehydration solution to prevent dehydration. Maintain a good hygiene and drink clean preferably boiled water.
Avatar n tn I have carbohydrate malabsorption (otherwise known as dissacharidase defficiency). Both are just fancy names for the fact that my body doesn't make enough enzymes to break down and properly absorb carbohydrates. Like ruffmagruff, i developed this out of the blue after having a bad stomach bug. took about 14 months of being pretty miserable before we figured out what what up. It was a total fluke: i wanted to lose about 10 lbs so i tried the south beach diet.
Avatar m tn Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day. Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day. Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.
Avatar f tn So far none have had transplants - two would be candidates, but children seem to overcome some of the issues associated with malabsorption. My son came home at 5 mos old 22 hours a day on g-tube feeding - weaned off within 4 months. My daughter, adopted at 3, is just now at almost 10 years old being weaned off tube feedings (1/3 of large bowel removed). It can be a slow process. I'm looking for direction myself.....it's just between me weighing them as I wean them to oral feeding..
1396732 tn?1280415399 For several months now, most food I eat results in sometimes severe stomach cramps accompanied by rapid heartbeat, clammy skin and a very sick feeling until I have a bowel movement that is brown and yellow, especially when I wipe. If I eat anything oily or greasy like fries, or even a ceasar salad and a small 1/2 sandwich, I'm in the bathroom sometimes within 5 minutes of beginning to eat.
Avatar m tn Hello, I wanted to know if anyone has a good knowledge of malabsorption disorders. I have had bowel problems and chronic flatulence for nearly seven years now, but i stopped eating fatty foods recently and saw a massive reduction in my symptoms. I think this is beacause it's malabsorption. I also had a blood test done recently that showed low floate levels, low calcium and low albumin.
Avatar m tn hi. im currently having a case of malabsorption i guess. i can see some food particles in my stool. its been like this for about 3 months now and i lost significant weight maybe 20 lbs. my stool looks like pale yellow and watery. at first i was worried (until now im still worried) about HIV symptoms since i also have swollen lymph nodes, skin rashes and white tongue. i tested negative after 15 weeks of possible exposure so im thinking of other possibilities. i still feel weak.
Avatar m tn What can it be have you heard of anything similar? When it strikes, I even poop a little in my pants while I am sleeping? Very embarassing?
Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?
Avatar n tn gallbladder disease (stones, inflammation) itself can not result in malabsorption. If a stone is lodged in the bile duct, it prevents bile flow into intestine, and causes symptoms like above, plus strong cramping pain under the lowest right rib. Diagnosis: first ultrasound, then HIDA scan. 3. pancreatic disease. If pancreas does not delicver enough enzymes into intestine, food will not be absorbed properly, what results in diarrhea. Diagnosis: pancreatic function tests. 4.
Avatar f tn After I used the bathroom, (and there was no actual bowel movements except for some gas) I saw dark red, almost blood looking floating spots in the toilet. The weird thing is that on the toilet paper was a bright orange color... None of this was from the urine, it was clearly something else. I'm worried because I had seen oily orange floating spots months ago and now it's back.
Avatar f tn Colitis or IBS can produce the symptoms you describe as can celiac disease. Other conditions such as a lactose deficiency, carbohydrate malabsorption, or fat malabsorption may be considered. These are conditions that your physician may have already considered. Have you been evaluated by a gastroenterologist? Your health care is dependant upon your parents or guardian. I am certain that they too are concerned. Please discuss your distress with them. They are your best advocates.
Avatar f tn Sometimes we worry more than we have to about children eating, if we make more of it more it becomes . So back off let him eat his food and in a very short time he will drink milk again .
Avatar n tn I think you're making a common mistake in thinking about food, which is that protein is good and carbs are bad. This isn't at all true -- the majority of your diet should be carbs. Vegetables, for example, the core of a healthy diet, are carbs, whereas beef is very high in fat on purpose and hard to digest despite being high in protein and so is never weight-loss food.
Avatar m tn OK, I am on a hard diet, but it is too much, no? Maybe a fat malabsorption? A disfunction in my bowel that I got in my trip? By the way, my stools improved in the last days. I hope it keeps improving... Thanks!
Avatar f tn If the children have had prednisone or antibiotics this encourages the over-producgtion of candida, a yeast/fungal pathogen. This worsens asthma. High sugar and carbohydrate diets also worsen asthma. Candida is often neglected and doctors do not usually test for it. Fortunately I was alert to the problem. My doctor tested me and it came back positive. Now it is being treated and my condition is improving.
Avatar m tn I have been diagnosed with barret's esophaegus 2 months back.Have been suffering from hyperacidity since last 12 years. Avatar f tn Has anyone taken the Fat Malabsorption test, because they had long term diarrhea? I am on my 6th and final day of the test. It is a horrible test! I had to eat 100 grams of fat, 3 days before I began the stool collection, and 100 grams of fat the 3 days of the stool collection. Thank God today is my last day! I am so nauseous! I am never going to want to eat again. It is very hard to fit 100 grams of fat into your daily diet, when you don't have a decent appetite.
