Avatar f tn Hi there, I am a 31 year old female recently diagnosed with Dissacharidase Deficiency, otherwise known as carbohydrate malabsorption. According to my gastro, a bad viral infection I acquired almost 18 months ago knocked out only my lactase enzymes, but also the enzymes neccessary to break down sugars, most carbs and all starches. I also became seriously sensitive to fructose, the sugar found in fruit.
Avatar n tn Have you been tested for fat malabsorption? That condition can also result in a foul-smelling stool.
Business woman1 But one has to rule out the other possibilities like IBS {irritable bowel syndrome, bacterial overgrowth of the small intestine, Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative Colitis, carbohydrate {sugar} malabsorption, hyperthyroidism, Addison’s disease or may be due to laxative abuse. Take adequate amount of fluids and oral rehydration solution to prevent dehydration. Maintain a good hygiene and drink clean preferably boiled water.
Avatar n tn I have carbohydrate malabsorption (otherwise known as dissacharidase defficiency). Both are just fancy names for the fact that my body doesn't make enough enzymes to break down and properly absorb carbohydrates. Like ruffmagruff, i developed this out of the blue after having a bad stomach bug. took about 14 months of being pretty miserable before we figured out what what up. It was a total fluke: i wanted to lose about 10 lbs so i tried the south beach diet.

However, that would most likely would only be the situation if you have a long standing history since childhood of gi issues. People also can develop an oat allergy as an adult. https://www.healthline.com/health/oat-allergy As to your question if your usage of Doxycycline would result in a long standing post usage side effect, that is unlikely but not impossible.
1396732 tn?1280415399 For several months now, most food I eat results in sometimes severe stomach cramps accompanied by rapid heartbeat, clammy skin and a very sick feeling until I have a bowel movement that is brown and yellow, especially when I wipe. If I eat anything oily or greasy like fries, or even a ceasar salad and a small 1/2 sandwich, I'm in the bathroom sometimes within 5 minutes of beginning to eat.
Avatar m tn Hello, I wanted to know if anyone has a good knowledge of malabsorption disorders. I have had bowel problems and chronic flatulence for nearly seven years now, but i stopped eating fatty foods recently and saw a massive reduction in my symptoms. I think this is beacause it's malabsorption. I also had a blood test done recently that showed low floate levels, low calcium and low albumin.
Avatar m tn hi. im currently having a case of malabsorption i guess. i can see some food particles in my stool. its been like this for about 3 months now and i lost significant weight maybe 20 lbs. my stool looks like pale yellow and watery. at first i was worried (until now im still worried) about HIV symptoms since i also have swollen lymph nodes, skin rashes and white tongue. i tested negative after 15 weeks of possible exposure so im thinking of other possibilities. i still feel weak.
Avatar m tn What can it be have you heard of anything similar? When it strikes, I even poop a little in my pants while I am sleeping? Very embarassing?
Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?
Avatar f tn After I used the bathroom, (and there was no actual bowel movements except for some gas) I saw dark red, almost blood looking floating spots in the toilet. The weird thing is that on the toilet paper was a bright orange color... None of this was from the urine, it was clearly something else. I'm worried because I had seen oily orange floating spots months ago and now it's back.
Avatar f tn Colitis or IBS can produce the symptoms you describe as can celiac disease. Other conditions such as a lactose deficiency, carbohydrate malabsorption, or fat malabsorption may be considered. These are conditions that your physician may have already considered. Have you been evaluated by a gastroenterologist? Your health care is dependant upon your parents or guardian. I am certain that they too are concerned. Please discuss your distress with them. They are your best advocates.

Avatar f tn So, I have a bassinet in my room and and I plan on having my baby sleep in there in our room for the first while. My question is in the nighttime when the babys diaper needs changing did most mommies have these necessities to change them in your room or would you walk and change them on the change table in their room during the night.....??

Avatar n tn while it maybe a tradition in india you would be hard pressed to find anyone from a medical/pediatrican/breastfeeding position that would reccomend this or advise it, nope, no-way
Avatar f tn I had my first child after Christmas but he was due before Christmas and she even recommended that we not take him to the family Christmas gathering and to sit in the back of church, going in and out quickly.
Avatar n tn I think you're making a common mistake in thinking about food, which is that protein is good and carbs are bad. This isn't at all true -- the majority of your diet should be carbs. Vegetables, for example, the core of a healthy diet, are carbs, whereas beef is very high in fat on purpose and hard to digest despite being high in protein and so is never weight-loss food.
Avatar f tn Hey ladies! So this is my first pregnacy and im in need of some tips.. This seems to be a often concern cause I'm sure some of you mama bears over buy on some stuff to find out the little ones grow out way too fast.. So I mean I really need advice on how many boxes I should start out with for newborns. Most of you will probably reply with (it depends). Of course cause all baby's are different. Avatar f tn But he needs to be either swaddled or wrapped in his favorite blanket. We also need to hold him until be falls asleep or he will scream bloody murder until we pick him up. What I do to calm my little one is I lay down on the couch and put him on top of me with his head on my chest, and rub his back. He's out within minutes. I'll leave him there for about half an hour just to make sure he's actually sleeping then I'll move him to his bassinet.
Avatar m tn OK, I am on a hard diet, but it is too much, no? Maybe a fat malabsorption? A disfunction in my bowel that I got in my trip? By the way, my stools improved in the last days. I hope it keeps improving... Thanks!
