Common Questions and Answers about Can you cut zyrtec in half

zyrtec

Avatar f tn Pain is in right abdomen, under rib cage. Pain is a burning pain (like when you are doing an excercise and holding a position to build muscle). Pain can also be sudden and paralyzing (like a Charlie horse). Especially when doing rigorous activity like yard work or intercourse. Pain is more pronounced when bending. Pain is also worse when laying on my left side, as though the weight of my stomach and internal organs are pulling/tearing something. Pain subsides when pressure is applied.
Avatar f tn I know it sounds daft but he was told to try and eat a small handful of brazil nuts throughout the day they are a brill form of iron and they did seem to help. Hang in there you are doing really well. I wish you all the best for rest of tx.
Avatar f tn I found Xyzal but after reading on it I found that it was addictive as the Zyrtec and was basically in the same class of drugs, literally. I cut the Xyzal in half and take it each night. It has worked and I am still searching for methods of getting off of this drug! I work night shift and I stay away from home for two days when I do so since it is closer to stay at my mother's house than to drive home. I forgot my med!
5449245 tn?1368135459 My doctor has told me to take 2 doses of Zyrtec per day to see if it will help the swelling, but Zyrtec makes me drowsy and I do not take it because I drive pretty much everyday and don't want to get too drowsy while I'm operating a vehicle! I have hypothyroidism & type 2 diabetes, and I think that may be part of the reason why my eyes have been so swollen. I have allergies as well, but they are mild.
Avatar f tn I've had some suggestions to cut the pills in half, but I have capsules, not tablets and they cannot be cut in half. What should I do??
Avatar f tn I take Zyrtec, Prevacid and Rhinocort Aqua (nasal spray). I hope this helps and you feel better.
Avatar f tn I realize this may sound strange but I was wondering if any of you have a "pill cutter" at home or do you just cut your pill in half with a knife? I am cutting down on the dose of my beta blocker per my Doctor and I was wondering if I have to purchase a pill cutter or can I just cut it with a knife or razor? I am a little anxious because you aren't supposed to "crush or chew" these pills and I'm afraid that if I cut it.......perhaps it will be crumbly.
1059594 tn?1261323966 Isn't Opana Time Released? I know you're the doctor, but I don't think you should inform people to cut their medications in half, ESPECIALLY if they're time released as this could cause a rapid release of all the medication in turn making her more sick, or am I wrong? Avatar f tn My body is literally left with bruises because the itching is so intense and will not stop. Please let me know if you have been able to cut it, I am getting desperate.
Avatar n tn Hey there...you cannot cut the dose in half....i would call your doctor and see if he/she can change your meds or if it's ok to stop..Levaquin can be given in 250, 500 & 750 mg doses...I was on Levaquin earlier this year for uti and had horrible side effects, so i just stopped taking the meds...I had horrible heart pounding, swollen knees and it felt as if someone had beaten the crap out of me with a baseball bat...
Avatar f tn Yes its ok to cut it in half. It should have a little place on the pill where to cut it. If you want to be absolutely sure you can always ask your pharmacist.
Avatar n tn I am also allergic to the sun. My rash is like a bunch of itchy hives and usually presents on my upper chest. It is called "Photosensitivity". I have been treated with an antihistamine such as zyrtec once a day. In addition to the zyrtec my physician gave me fluocinide cream to apply to the area if needed. I do go out in the sun, zyrtec helps but If I'm exposed to the sun too long, I still get the rash. Good luck...
Avatar f tn he has a dermatology appointment on Thursday I don’t want to put him back on prednisone again he’s gaining weight the Zyrtec does nothing and he has not been on any antibiotics. Some of the spots are half circles with white in the middle which looks like ringworm but his allergist said it’s not. I don’t understand why he has not been on an antibiotic I don’t think my son is pushing hard enough.
Avatar f tn I noticed for the past year or more that his growth has not been the same as when he was an infant/toddler. A friend had told me that she saw online somewhere that Zyrtec can suppress growth in children. Maybe when used for a long time? Does anyone know about this? Is this true? Or is this a possibility that Zyrtec taken for allergy could suppress growth in children?
Avatar f tn Thank you for the advice. It's good to know i'm not alone. Hopefully you won't mind if i do write to you for support.
Avatar f tn Nothing works for me, but Benadryl. My doctor said Claritan and Zyrtec are safe, they just don't work for me. I started taking either half of a regular Benadryl during the day (so I won't get sleepy, haha) or children's Benadryl (it's about the same as half of a regular one). That seems to make my allergies tolerable throughout the day.
Avatar f tn Metoprolol 25 mg. Does it make a difference in what I'm taking, wether I can cut in half or not? The PA knows what I am taking and he told me just to cut it.
Avatar n tn With one pill a day I assume that they are extended release pills and would definitely not mess with them!
Avatar f tn For ladies with Allergies what are you taking or doing. Claritin just doesn't seem to be doing the job. I am a stuffy, sneezey mess with watery eyes half the time. And I need to function so Benadryl is not an option unless I am able to sleep all day.
Avatar f tn //www.healthline.com/health/childrens-health/zyrtec-child-allergies#talk-with-your-doctor Flonase is a bit different. I assume you were also buying that over the counter? This too is generally regarded as safe but is recommended to only be used 2 months out of the year unless your doctor has said otherwise. It's a nasal steroid. These have been associated with usually insignificant slowing of growth. https://www.post-gazette.
Avatar f tn I didn't. I take my Zoloft in the am and loratadine in the pm. but I dont see why you can't take them at the same time. there's hardly or no interaction at all.
Avatar n tn If your son is prescribed 5 mg of Singulair then try to get that instead of a 10 mg preparation (you can get 4 mg and 5mg chewable tablets—ask the pharmacist or the doctor about these). Usually a medication which can be broken into half and used this way to half the dose has a line break on the tablet. Usually Singulair does not have such line breaks. Instead, ask your son’s doctor whether you can use Singulair 4mg granules. Do discuss this dosing with your son’s doctor. Take care!
Avatar f tn Mine said benadryl.. & I weigh 109 so she said only take half & try not to take one everyday.
