Avatar f tn Therefore, people prone to encephalopathy are advised to maintain a high intake of vegetable protein and a low intake of animal protein, or even better, to become vegetarians. This type of diet will help control mental symptoms in people suffering from some degree of chronic encephalopathy—that is, those who have some degree of mental confusion and/or memory loss all the time.
Avatar m tn One of the tests I would recommend is a Hemoglobin A1c which can reveal a history of elevated blood sugar. The difference between type 1 and type 2 essentially is in management. Typically type 2 diabetes has adult onset. It can often be managed through diet and lifestyle modification, with/or without the use of oral diabetes medication. Type 1 used to be called Juvenile Diabetes. This was the diabetes most frequently noted in children.
Avatar n tn At your age and weight Type 1 would probably be a more likely problem than Type 2 (and actually you have posted to the Type 1 forum). As for the sleep, everyone is different and if you feel rested enough with 6 hours sleep that is fine; the eight hour we all were taught is more common, but some of us do fine on less.
Avatar f tn I am a type II diabetic and I would like to know what is considered a "good" blood sugar reading for me when I test at different times of the day....before meals, after meals, fasting in the morning, at bedtime and other random times during the day.
Avatar m tn I have a relative who typically did not have a big rise in pulse at home, but started having major problems and low blood pressure readings. A tilt table test actually did have a heart rate rise equal to a diagnosis of P.O.T.S., which the nurse checked with someone and said she had. But she was also diagnosed with N.C.S. (neurocardiogenic syncope), which is a different form of dysautonomia, though she says she was conscious the whole time.
Avatar n tn 4.4 (80) is a normal fasting blood sugar level. Am I correct that this number was your morning fasting number? If your fasting blood sugar is consistently at this level, maybe you need to take your Metformin in the morning with breakfast to help with your meal time numbers (and not before you sleep). What is you Hba1c? Why were your prescribed metformin? What was the result that resulted in it's prescription? Please come back and let us know.
Avatar f tn Maybe if you could tell us which type of dysautonomia she was diagnosed with someone can help you with diet suggestions.
1026267 tn?1257591273 I don't know if almond or rice milk have the iodine in them or not, but there is one other thing that might be of help here. I found out that people with type "O" blood should not use coconut or palm anything, even the healthy extra virgin kind. I also found out that dairy isn't really good for type "O" people either.
Avatar f tn I have been looking into this blood type diet myself being a blood type O but recently I have become concerned if I suffer manic episodes or am bipolar. Certain periods in my life become notably amazing. Usually when Im relatively lean I find myself with too much energy than I know what to do with! My social life improves dramatically! I quit 2 different jobs during these periods of "high". I almost become contagious during these periods wishing I could feel like this forever!
Avatar n tn Are you on a restricted diet? I'm on a high protein/high fat diet (Atkins revised diet). It's working for me to drop glucose and pounds. I hate working out so I go to low impact classes which are actually fun.
Avatar n tn My doctor just told me that I am slightly hypertensive and borderline type II diabetic. She put me on the diet plan for daibetics and I like it. I've been losing weight and getting energy highs then I get the "munchies" for popcorn and BBQ chips. I can't drink fruit juices or anything else except diet soda, water, and diet teas or sugar free Kool Aid. But if I drink the sugar free stuff I get so "gassy" and diarrhea. This part ***** big time.
Avatar m tn foods in marriages, pizzas, pasta, rice, ice creams, fried things and things prepared wd maida (refind flour) and besan, my blood pressure shoots up.... what should I do. I am taking olmitime 20 from last 1 month.......but still I cant eat these things.
Avatar f tn They have him on meds to increase his heart rate and he is on a high caffeine and high salt diet. I would not recommend that type of diet unless your heart doctor approves, this is just what they have my friend doing now. Keep us posted on how you are doing. Best to you!
Avatar m tn Hi,i was just wondering wat could be the cause of the constant dizziness as i had this problem since last year, did a full blood test all came back normal including a tyhroid test.also did an echo, stress test twice,24 hour holter and several ecgs and which some show possible lvh but the doctor dosent seem concerned as my echo was clear a year ago and is it necessary to repeat the echo again ?
Avatar m tn For others, it significantly slows the progress so that they can maintain on diet and exercise or the addition of an oral med for many years. Normal blood sugars are fasting under 100 and two hours post prandial under 140. People who are non-diabetic rarely go over 120. There is little reason to do random blood sugars, they don't tell you very much; I would suggest fasting blood sugar and then two hours after meals. This tells you how different foods affect you and how high you are going.
Avatar f tn basically you are in a quiet room and you lie on a table and get strapped on. they will then bring the table up to an angle and monitor your hr blood pressure as they will have you hooked up to an ecg machine. they use this test to recreat the symptoms you have in a controled way. the best thing is to not trt and wiggle your legs as this may prolong test. you may feel faint this is normal and you may feel your heart beat ect.
Avatar n tn Hi Lizzy, you are still diabetic... completely normal blood glucose is a hba1c of 5.0 or less. Prediabetic is usually considered as 5.7 - 6.5, and diabetic as 6.5. But being diabetic is sometimes likened to being pregnant... whether 6 weeks or 9 months you are still pregnant. So slightly high or very high, is still diabetic. To give you some perspective. Normal blood sugars will typically be < 100 all the time. Hba1c of 6.9 gives you average BG of about 160. Hab1c of 6.
307500 tn?1302116146 Says because I have Clusters of AutoImmune Diseases I most likly have type 1 diabetes. This week He has run lost of test, blood, and heart tests and blood flow. I have been put on every poral pill and it hasn't dropped my BS. MY lst A1C was 7.0, I have been on a very low carb diet for yrs, I think if I weren't my BS would be alot higher all the time. My ? is could I be type 1 because of all the Auto disease and the age of 16 diagnoses?
Avatar f tn I would encourage him to eat fruits, vegetables and lean meats so that he may maintain a healthy diet, that will also be easier on his blood sugar response.
Avatar f tn This would involve evaluation of c-peptide, antibodies, and insulin levels correlated with blood sugar levels. Type 1 is lack of insulin (and needs injected insulin), Type 2 is plenty of insulin, but there is insulin resistance and the insulin is not effective. For Type 2, oral meds may be appropriate. If it is adult onset type 1, it may develop quickly. Therefore, I suggest your read up on syptoms of both type 1 and type 2 and if you develop symptoms then you must go to your Dr.
Avatar f tn To help control your blood sugar (aside from the insulin) you need to adopt the followign for diet and exercise:- 1. Ideally 30 minutes of exercise after each meal. However, this may not always be possible, but do aim at 30 minutes of moderate exercise (brisk walking, stationary bike, swimming, etc) every day. 2. Avoid white carbs. By this I mean white bread, rice, pasta, all candies and sweets and processed foods. Avoid fruit juice. 3.
979826 tn?1389036358 As soon as they saw the heart rate do crazy things they let me back down, they did do it a second time to watch things but that was it. I would like more information though on the blood pressure because there is a type of pots that isn't the typical low blood pressure (Hyper-POTS) I am curious if that is my issue. I have been dealing with the Shunt now so much that there has not been time to follow up on that lead! It just seems like too many things associated with Chiari.
Avatar m tn m not strict on my diet, just watch what I eat and make adjustments when my blood work starts to rise. Keep up the good work.
