Avatar f tn I am sure I am going to get a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes this week. My blood glucose this AM when I woke up was 200. It's been running about 125-130 all week. I also get some pretty low numbers during the day and start to feel weak and jittery. I'd just like to see what the diet looks like before I go in to see my doctor. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Whole grains can help people with type 1 diabetes control blood sugar and lose weight, making blood sugar management more effective.
Avatar n tn A little while ago i had a nondiabetic doctor recommend a low carbohydrate diet to help keep my blood sugars low and when i mentioned it to my endocrinologist she said that that type of diet puts extra strain on the kidneys and since diabetics are already prone to kidney problems they should avoit it. i would recommend that at your next doctor appointment you ask to be referred to a dietician to go over the proper diet aspects for a diabetic.
Avatar n tn I had to have a physical from my own doctor who had to sign some paper work from GHI and I had to have a blood test as specified from GHI Medical. I followed the 500 calorie diet religiously. I had plenty of energy to exercise which I did 5 - 6 aerobic work outs and 3 weight training work outs. I am a personal trainer and I was having an extremely frustrating time loosing weight after the birth of my 3rd child. Yes, I washed my hair and conditioned it.
Avatar n tn I have an 8 yr old daughter who has type I diabetes and is a "brittle diabetic". We are very strict with her diet, but still struggle to keep her bs down as it is common for it to be in the 450 range. We have tried different kinds of both long and short acting insulins and there is no difference. I was wondering if anyone knows of a service that you can use to make out weekly menu plans.
Avatar f tn It was tested evening time.whats the risk and what diet he need to follow? is it type 1 or type 2.what fruits can he able to eat?can he eat brown rice or wild rice?
Avatar n tn Given your weight, diet and history you may be adult onset type 1 (research LADA) rather than type 2. Treatment for this is insulin rather than oral meds, usually. Your fasting no. are reasonable now, but your after eating is still too high. Yes, exercise and low carb eating are very helpful in controlling blood sugars and minimising med requirements. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Hi. That's all good as far as Tina's diet and meds are concerned. You are on the right track. The drop in bloodwork numbers is reassuring. The ideal plan is to keep working on them to get them within or as close to within normal limits as possible, even if they only dip into the high end of normal range. Over time, it's vital to maintain fluids (read my article about tap water, which isn't ideal), and add a few supplements along the way to help things along.
Avatar n tn She is going to need you 100% to help her in the diet area. That is so important as you have seen. She is not going to feel like putting a menu together lots of times. Way to go Cowboy! Your wife is very fortunate to have you!
Avatar f tn in fact, i will soon not even be taking thyroid meds and managing the disease by diet. Get a T3 blood test. Get tested for gluten intolerence. Do some research on Hashimoto and you will find this is nothing like any other type of thyroid disease. it is more of an auto immune disease. Hope this helps. Believe it or not Hashimoto is the most misdiagnosed thyroid disease and MOST medical doctors (even your endocrenoligist may not know how to properly deal with this disease.

Avatar n tn Hi! Is anyone starting the HCG diet on Black Friday? I will be doing it 4 weeks thanksgiving to christmas? Do you want to start a support group?
Avatar n tn Hi everyone. I started the HCG shots today (late afternoon) The doc put me on the "Soup Diet" Can someone please share with me their prescribed diet plan? Im not crazy about the soup diet and I wanted to know if there is a different prescribed 500 cal diet out there, Thanks all.
Avatar f tn I am currently on the hcg injections from the Native Healing Ways clinic. Does anyone have any recipes for this 500 calorie diet? The information that the clinic has provided does list a few recipes but I would like to expand a bit as I am becoming board with current food choices. Also, I am mostly a vegetarian but eat some fish. Thanks!
Avatar f tn VITAMINS AND MINERALS The liver is the body's main warehouse for storing nutrients. It absorbs and stores excess vitamins and minerals from the blood. If a person's diet does not supply an adequate amount of these nutrients on a given day, the liver releases just the right amount of them into the bloodstream. However, the liver has only a limited capacity for processing vitamins and minerals. Any excess amounts that the liver is unable to process are generally eliminated from the body.
Avatar f tn LOL) She said she wanted to start meds slowly, so put me on 500mg metformin and 100mg Januvia and gave me an 1800 calorie diet. And she told me that if my blood sugar should end up over 400 and I was feeling really bad, to go to the emergency room. The idea was that she would gradually increase my metformin, but wouldn't do that until my next appointment in two weeks. She also chided me for taking so many blood tests, saying to only take them at bedtime and before meals for now.
Avatar n tn Can anyone direct me or share a sample diet plan to acheive weight loss? I have had Diabetes for 20 years and I eat healthy and work out 4 - 5 times a week, but a like others on this forum, I want to achieve a 10-15 lb. weight loss.I want to have a good idea of what I need to do. I am stumped and dont see any results at this point, Thanks.
Avatar f tn The best test out there for this type of tumor usually found on one of the adrenal glands, is a fasting blood test called plasma free metanephrines. If they order this, you'll want to get it done after he's been having an episode of high blood pressure & high pulse rate and hopefully, he won't have taken any tylenol in the last I think it's 72 hours, because that can interfere with assaying the levels.
649848 tn?1534637300 What's your favorite type, how do you use and/or incorporate it into your diet and where do you buy it? My regular grocery store(s) tend to only have regular white rice and brown rice.
190885 tn?1333029491 Well, 3 months post tx guess what? Type 2 diabeties. Fortunately, I seem able to control with diet and exercise, but I also learned from my classes at the International Diabetes Center that should meds be necessary, I most likely will have to jump straight to shots as pills can not be used when abnormal LFT's are measured. Given that tx failed to clear HCV, it seems LFT's are always abnormal, even if only slightly elevated (i.e. 10-20 unit above high water mark).
Avatar m tn You have to be organized and create food lists, learn to read nutritional panels, make detailed shopping lists, take time to cook, and create a diverse menu. Getting some of this type of information is one of the greatest benefits of meeting with a dietitian who can help you plan your diet and with subsequent meetings help you stay on track. In this study, a handbook that contained this kind of information was given to all participants. The results of maintaining a diet were profound.
Avatar f tn I found the book and copied the information: "Ultraviolet blood irradiation therapy is said to improve oxygenation of tissue, help with inflammation, stimulate immune system and fight viral infection. This treatment, which has been approved by the FDA consists of bombaring the blood with ultraviolet light. It appears to render the virus inactive. This treatment is offered by Bradford Research Institute in Chula Vista, CA." I have no idea how long it takes or what it costs.
Avatar n tn Gluten free or paleo diet I have found effective. No wheat or white bread, rice, potato. Hardy nuts and seeds will lower blood sugar numbers. Working on alternative receipies.
Avatar f tn The most common types of diabetes are Type 1 and Type 2. Which type are you? Basically, Type 1 diabetes are hereditary, genetically transmitted from parents to offspring. Normal treatment would be a daily doze of insulin. Type 2 on the other hand, is more on lifestyle (sedentary - without regular exercise), eating habit or being overweight, etc. Normal treatment would be regular exercise, well balance diet with some minor medication as prescribe by a doctor.
Avatar m tn Some people with type 2 diabetes will find that eating a ketogenic diet eliminates their need for insulin. However, if you really need insulin to contrl blood sugars then please do not be scared to use it. Blood sugar control is critical to health. The complications of uncontrolled blood sugar will be far worse than the prick of a very small needle. The need is actually so small and thin that in many cases it cannot be felt.
