I have had a tooth in my mouth for a while that has been rotten- and from time to time it flares up with a small abscess- I have dentures (which press on the abscess) and no medical insurance (live in Belgium). I was at work on Saturday night and a customer worked in Dentistry- he told me I needed a course of Augmentin 875 for 10 days. I went to a Pharmacy and explained the situation and they sold me the course.
Hi! I have an alveolar abscess that I went to the hospital late the night prior in order to get antibiotics. The Dr. drained the abscess and prescribed 875mg of Amoxicillin. When I took the first Amox. pill, I had really bad flu-like symptoms not long after (hot flashes, chills, achy muscles, nausea, light-headedness, and dry heaving). Puss from the abscess drained into my mouth during a shower this morning, and it feels a bit better.
Can regular Amoxil 875 mg be taken for an abscessed tooth with no swelling or is Augmentin required? This discussion is related to tooth abscess and swollen cheek.
Funny enough, just on Monday, my father needed his tooth number 7 removed due to an abscess and need for an implant and I only removed the tooth, we will wait a few weeks and then place the graft at that time (in his case he has lost much bone on the front part of the jaw bone) and then place the implants. I would recommed a CT scan always.
I was on antibiotics (augmentin) before the surgery, which I continued due to the abscess but the day following the root canal, my face is very swollen, from the nose to below the jaw bone and slightly pink. It is not hard and not terribly sensitive today. What could have happened to cause this swelling and do you think the abscess has not been completely resolved?
I did my research online this seems to be a gum infection and/or abscess of the tooth and very painful for the cat. I've never grabbed this cat, nor will it let me take it somewhere, it moves tries to escape doesn't like to be grabbed. Please tell me if there is something i could take, any antibiotic or pain killer or anti inflammation, anything. Unfortunately i have not much knowledge of medicine.
Now he is in terrible pain, and during his first visit to his GP he was informed that his wisdom teeth had abscess so he was put on antibiotics for 10 days with Augemtin first and later on Augmentin duo. Nothing seemed to have worked for him and now he is with severe chest congestion, fever and terrible tooth and head pain. Can you please advise us with a therapy that he could try. Any help is truly appreciated, many thanks.
Once the bad tooth was repaired the pain was gone. I hope that is the case for you. Yes in the afternoon 99 degree fever is not really that high. The temperature goes up in the afternoon and evening. But if you know you are never high then it is not right for you.
A failed root canal left infected root in the tooth, which caused a major infection, an abscess, a need for another root canal on a nearby tooth, and eventually the extraction of both teeth. I have had a fever for 6 months, since the onset of this infection. I have no other underlying illnesses, no health problems, no inflammatory illness. Prior to this I was healthy. I don't drink or smoke. The only other thing that's popped up during all this is I have a small cyst on each side of my thyroid.
I started having discomfort from a tooth (#12) a former root canal. I was on Amoxicillan, Clindamyacin 500mg 3x a day, then 4x a day. On 5/6/08, I was put under for the extraction/bone graft as the Oral Surgeon said my infection would keep me from becoming numb. A week later I had my follow-up appt. I was still tender and had some facial swelling near my nose/cheek. The OS told me it was normal since I had alot of bad tissue removed.
Hi! I recently had a root canal and was prescribed clindamycin too....I too have allergies to other antibiotics. The clindomycin did NOTHING and the infection got worse so now I am on CIPRO which was my own idea. I don't know if it is working 100% yet, but at least the infection has died down and I can tell it is helping......
It took longer for the clindamycin to work this time, and a new doctor concluded I may have developed some resistance to it after being on it for close to 2 months at that point. I was put on Augmentin, but this did nothing for the infection and only made me swell (hands, abdomen, throat) after a few days. But, when I was restarted on the clindamycin, the clindamycin worked better that time - more quickly - so maybe the Augmentin had been doing some good I don't know.
I have had tooth abscess tooth for about 10yrs now.some times my tooth throbbed and I have bleeding gum becos of it. have finally gon to see the dentist. x ray was took and losts of dry puss was in my gum.have finally complete the treatment and I home my lymph node will go back down or will it b like that for ever?
could this be related to my dental abcess? my doctor prescribed me 825mg Augmentin for when i go to have my tooth pulled, should i take this now before the tooth is pulled to prevent any bacterial flaring? should i have the tooth drained first? is this even what could be causing it? i just wish someone had an answer for me as im afraid to have all these problems now and go have a tooth pulled and be on pain killers on top of everything else...
3 days later, as the symptoms persisted, I went to my family doctor. She put me on Augmentin for 8 days for a sinus infection and said that she saw fluid behind my left eardrum. After the 8th day of pain, the augmentin did NOTHING and I went to the ER. The ER doctor was concerned about my family history and me being a smoker, and recommended a CAT scan and a spinal tap! I had both. I also insisted he do a full sinus scan. The CAT and Tap came back normal.
I have a 14 year old dog. Last week we found out he had a tooth abscess. We put him under antibiotic. After a few days the infection ( little mass under his eye) disappeared. He seemed to be doing a whole lot better (he stopped crying at night and was more reactive) I was also planing to find a vet to take off his tooth.
I finally saw a dentist on May 10. In addition to a tooth abscess, there was a pocket, I presume containing pus, in my lower buccal space. I was given 6 days of Penicillin and 5 days of Metronidazole and sent to and endodontic person to evaluate. The endodontist said a root canal was not possible, so I returned to dentist to have tooth pulled on May 15. The original antibiotics ran out around that time. The lump in the cheek was never addressed.
One of the causes of maxillary sinusitis is a tooth abscess that has leaked the infection into the maxillary sinus. The teeth may be X-rayed to find this. • Ethmoid sinuses. If infection occurs, you may get puffy eyes and pain between them. The sides of your nose may get tender to the touch, your nose may get stuffy, and you won’t be able to smell so well. You may also get a splitting headache, felt most intensely in the forehead. • Sphenoid sinuses.
So i saw this doctor who also thought it was sinus related and put me on Lexapro for anxiety, Nasacort nasal spray and Augmentin (amoxicillin), well the augmentin caused an intestinal infection and colitis which i still have trouble with and the headache was still there.
I noticed greenish/brown mucus and tooth pain and went to doctor for an anti-biotic (I think Bactrim). I took the antibiotic which seemed to clear up what I thought was a sinus infection but I still wasn't feeling better and my glands were very swollen (they still are too a degree). The doctor prescribed Augmentin due to the remaining swollen glands and remaining flu like symptoms. On April 16th, I had tingling in my hands and feelings of pure exhaustion.
I think you need further evaluation of your liver, preferably by a liver specialist ( Heptologist) Have you been tested for hepatitis b and c? Part of the problem is using the ER for this, you really need a doctor who can look into it more thoroughly.
But, good news for me is that I am a lawyer...right here in the New York City where they are. Too bad for them. They have been accused of taking bad claims that women have left concerning the bad, horrific reactions they have had off the message boards....they get their on employees to post good messgaes on the same sites.
