I presume that you have finished the course of the antibiotics about a week ago.
If that is the case, make an appointment with your doctor. Although the abscess is draining the "plug" needs to be removed. If the "plug" of the abscess has not come out, the abscess will continue to fester.
As the abscess is oozing slowly means that you have an open wound and because of that you are unable to apply a magnesium sulphate drawing ointment.
I had surgery on december 23rd and my healing process was fine too up until today (feb 10) when i noticed some brownish stuff had leaked from the spot where the abscess had been drained. Since there was no problem for over a month I don't understand what could have caused this and I'm worried because i hope I don't have to go through this again. please let me know what you think and many thanks for your help.
The 2 brothers came to blows about 4 days back and now 1 has an abscess by his ear on the top of his head. I've been able to clean it with some Chlorhexidine scrub and warm water a couple times since finding the abscess yesterday. This evening while cleaning it I started getting a lot of nasties out of it. I was as gentle as I could be while putting a little pressure and getting it to where it was clean blood coming up a bit instead of the puss, and cloudy blood it was.

For 2 weeks I have been dealing with a very painful abscess on my ear, where after alot of research and several trips to a local medical clinic and ER, I have found that what I have is an abscess in the Preauricular pit/sinus.
I have been given 3 rounds of antibiotics, one of which I am still taking (Clindamyacin). I have yet to see any improvement from taking the antibiotics, so I went to the ER yesterday where they attempted to do and Incision and Drainage procedure.
The abscess you speak of can spread through the facial spaces in your head. My guess to your situation would be that a dental infection started in your tooth and has spread from the pulp of the tooth into the jaw bone. From the jaw bone, it has broken through the jaw and is now spreading through the soft tissue (muscles, skin, etc) and spreads out to wherever there is space to grow.
The antibiotics should be completely finished.
Is your doctor bringing you back for further treatment?
I have had a tooth in my mouth for a while that has been rotten- and from time to time it flares up with a small abscess- I have dentures (which press on the abscess) and no medical insurance (live in Belgium).
I was at work on Saturday night and a customer worked in Dentistry- he told me I needed a course of Augmentin 875 for 10 days.
I went to a Pharmacy and explained the situation and they sold me the course.
i had a Peritonsillar abscess just before xmas. i didnt no what it was, just thought it was a sore throat as i had never heard of it. it got so bad i couldnt open my mouth, talk or even drink water. i went to the doctor who sent me to a&e straight away. i got nervous n threw up a few times on my way and ruptured it myself before they had to do it. it keeps coming back, sometimes slowly and somtimes i will just swallow and i can feel it.
I was on antibiotics (augmentin) before the surgery, which I continued due to the abscess but the day following the root canal, my face is very swollen, from the nose to below the jaw bone and slightly pink. It is not hard and not terribly sensitive today. What could have happened to cause this swelling and do you think the abscess has not been completely resolved?
I did my research online this seems to be a gum infection and/or abscess of the tooth and very painful for the cat.
I've never grabbed this cat, nor will it let me take it somewhere, it moves tries to escape doesn't like to be grabbed.
Please tell me if there is something i could take, any antibiotic or pain killer or anti inflammation, anything. Unfortunately i have not much knowledge of medicine.
At this time a suprapubic partial hysterectomy was done for severe uterine fibroids. both ovaries, cervix left.

Hi! I have an alveolar abscess that I went to the hospital late the night prior in order to get antibiotics. The Dr. drained the abscess and prescribed 875mg of Amoxicillin. When I took the first Amox. pill, I had really bad flu-like symptoms not long after (hot flashes, chills, achy muscles, nausea, light-headedness, and dry heaving). Puss from the abscess drained into my mouth during a shower this morning, and it feels a bit better.
Now he is in terrible pain, and during his first visit to his GP he was informed that his wisdom teeth had abscess so he was put on antibiotics for 10 days with Augemtin first and later on Augmentin duo. Nothing seemed to have worked for him and now he is with severe chest congestion, fever and terrible tooth and head pain. Can you please advise us with a therapy that he could try. and 3 days later i was really bad again !
A failed root canal left infected root in the tooth, which caused a major infection, an abscess, a need for another root canal on a nearby tooth, and eventually the extraction of both teeth. I have had a fever for 6 months, since the onset of this infection. I have no other underlying illnesses, no health problems, no inflammatory illness. Prior to this I was healthy. I don't drink or smoke. The only other thing that's popped up during all this is I have a small cyst on each side of my thyroid.
Over the past 18 months I have had three anal abscesses, and I had another abscess approximately 6 years ago. In all cases these abscess presented quickly (within 2 days) and I have had to have 3 of 4 drained by the surgeon. My most recent was caught early so my doctor decided to try Augmentin before having me see a surgeon to have it drained. But, I'm getting concerned that this definitely doesn't seem normal for someone who is healthy and my age -- 29 years old.
Since these encounters i have taken antibiotics for different ailments. 1 zpack (azithromycin), and then a 10 day course of augmentin. Would either of these have taken care of any infection i may have had?
I still have the swollen node in groin. I do have a chronically infected pilonidal abscess, which i guess could be causing the node swelling?
They put me back on IV zosyn for 5 days then home with 10 days of augmentin. by the time I finished the augmentin, I was feeling good. I could eat an almost normal diet and started walking. About a week after I finished the augmentin I started having diaphoretic spells, no fever, just weird diaphoretic spells. I had been having 5 to 8 normal bowel movements a day which was great. A week after the spells started, almost overnight, I could not have a bowel movement.
No the doctor was not an ENT. I haven't had any ear problems prior to this, I do however have chronic sinus issues and live in a very dry arid part of the country. More recently have been having mild but frequent headaches which is very unusual for me.
When I asked what was wrong he said it could be a few things and prescribed Augmentin 825 mg twice daily and Naproxenum 250 mg twice daily for a week. I asked if it could be a perianal abscess or a hematoma and if it should be lanced and drained. He said told me it is best to wait and see if it gets worse and if it does go back to a doctor and have it looked at again.
Finally went to the doctor, who said yeah, it was probably strep and prescribed strong Augmentin for 10 days (my first antibiotics in ten years, btw.) Scratchiness and slight headache went away, but glands remained swollen and a balloon-looking sac has appeared in the back of my mouth and the base of the peritonsillar arch. It's pink in color, painless, and it moves around when my tongue hits it. I finished antibiotics this weekend and fever and headache have returned.
