Appendicitis or bad gas

Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis or bad gas

appendicitis

Avatar f tn I am on vacation across the country. I woke up at 2:30 am with bad stomach pain (top middle), bloating, and gas. I went the the ER about 6 hours later and received indigestion meds. I felt much better outside of mild abdominal discomfort from gas still. Now the next day my lower right stomach is pretty tender, nowhere else, just lower right side. Should I be worried about appendicitis? Could it be tender from extreme gas and bloating? Thoughts?
Avatar m tn It could be a combo of period and gas! Gas is terrible painful at times, but combining menstrual cramping with gas is super painful! I've had it. I'd eat some bland foods (if that helps) and get a hot water bottle to ease the cramps.
1003498 tn?1263919526 now i am sitting fine but i have to sit very upright or i can feel the pain. my only problem with thinking it was gas or something with my colon was that when i had a bowel movement the pain did not get better. it just stayed the same. and my reason for not thinking it was female pain was it didnt feel the same as what i experienced before. i know i am not pregnant so that is not an option although everyone on the outside just assumes thats what it is. but that is not possible.
Avatar f tn t aware that laying on their right side can cause gas to build up in your colon and form a gas bubble. The way the colon is shaped and with the gas rising upward, when laying on the right side it gets trapped in the ascending and transverse sections of the colon and is not as easily expelled as it is when laying on the left side. I recommend trying some OTC treatments like beano, gas X, prilosec, prevacid, Mylanta, mylox etc. for a few days.
Avatar f tn He described abdominal pain that sounded like it could be gas or early appendicitis. I told him to take Gas-Ex and lie down. When I got home, he still had the pain, even lying down. I pressed on his abdomen and he had more pain. Didn't really know what I was doing, but just gently pressed around and he moaned. The pain had moved from his umbilicus to more in the right lower quadrant.
Avatar f tn I have lower right abdominal pain, it seems to get very bad when I start to urinate, and also feel a lot of gas and pressure in the rectuM? what could this be?
Avatar f tn Desperate on Thursday I went to dr in so much pain. I couldn’t fart or poop and he just said he couldn’t rule out appendicitis but recommended I go to the hospital. He told me to take miralax which I did and it made indigestion worse but help somewhat the farts I could fart if I strained. But no matter how much I strained it didn’t feel like the dull ache was going away.
Avatar f tn So my question is, is this appendicitis, or is this endometriosis? My anxiety is out of control. Could appendicitis take this long to develop? I am on Loestrin 24 (birth control) and my fever has gone away. The pain and nausea comes and goes. I've been going through this for about a year now. Please help me.
Avatar m tn I had a UTI about 2 months ago could i have another? Oh and i feel like i have trappe gas and it travels all over my stomach.
Avatar n tn s my right side - nothing passes through there, right, or does it? It just ends in the appendicitis, the left side is the one that goes through. I've also had bad posture this week, I sit down in feutal position a lot because it makes me comfortable so maybe that's why my intestines are being weird or maybe it has something to do with the "blockage".
Avatar f tn You can get gas doing this as well, and the fact that your stomach was rumbling and lying on one side made you feel better makes me think gas/constipation (and bad gas can literally feel like being intermittently stabbed in the gut). Drink plenty of liquids and make sure you get fiber--don't eat too much toast, or you'll constipate yourself more. If you get severe pain again, go to the ER, because there are plenty of dangerous things that can cause severe abdominal pain.
Avatar f tn I'm scared out of my mind that I have appendicitis but also I don't know whether it could be something psychological or a muscle pull. It's in my abdominal area, kind of lower but sometimes goes up and on the right hand side. I've been passing gas a bit which relieves me a bit but the achy pain is still there.
Avatar m tn It could be many thing as sever as your appendix or gallbladder or as minor as gas. The description you gave was vague and short. If there was more info I'm sure someone could pin point the problem but as SassyLassie said it's hard to diagnose you with out you standing right in front of us and without any blood work or other tests being done. Hope it's just gas, hope for the best but expect the worst.
Avatar f tn t develop fever or vomiting with my appendicitis, reason why it was hard to diagnose, especially because it was behind my ceccum (for 1 month doctors suspected ovary pain...until my appendix burst). Can this time be stump appendicitis and doctors mistake it for cysts again?? I'm scared...
Avatar n tn You really need to get to the hospital if the pain is too bad to stand. It could be a nasty gallbladder attack, appendicitis, or a bunch of other potentially serious things. If you have a fever and/or lack of an appetite go to the ER ASAP.
644974 tn?1312758070 sounds like bad gas but that wouldnt normally last that long.... sounds like PDI possibly.....
Avatar f tn Sometimes I do have diarrhea and I go everyday but I am always seeing blood in the stool. I have no fever or anything like that, nor am I having the typical rebound pain or any pain in my right lower stomach. It seems that the pain moves when I change position if that makes sense. Usually when I sit it moves in the lower area of my belly button, and when I lay down it moves to the upper area of my belly button.
Avatar n tn The pain could be due to gas, kidney stones, muscle pull, gall bladder stones, liver infection, constipation, appendicitis or due to start of shingles. Duodenal ulcer, IBS, Crohn’s disease and colitis are the other possibilities. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage without examining you. Also since you otherwise feel fine it could be gas or muscle pull. Still on net a confirmed diagnosis is not possible. Do consult your doctor. Take care!
Avatar n tn 3% mean while my liver enzymes were elevated for about 8 months and so I had a liver biopsy done while gall bladder was removed, pathology test results show slight inflammation to liver so I must repeat blood test within 3 weeks. I’m not sure if this pain I now have may be gas or my appendix???
Avatar f tn I have not vomited or had diarrhea nor do I have a fever. Do I have appendicitis or is it just gas?
Avatar f tn I had what I thought was really bad trapped gas pain in the lower front part of my abdomen for 3 days and then it completely shifted to the lower right side. I was afraid I was making a big deal out of what could have just been gas until it got to where I couldn't walk. If you feel like it's getting any worse it's definitely worth it to check with your doctor and if you do go in make sure they check your white blood cell count!!
Avatar n tn Could you be pregnant or have your appendix still? Is it on the right lower part of your lower belly. Is there any fever, vomiting? Are you sexually active and have you missed your period? It could be a tubal pregnancy. You really need to go to the ER if it doesn't subside. Or could it be gas, is it traveling pain? Have you taken anything for the pain yet? Gas pills, Tylenol, Advil, anything at all?
Avatar f tn I also have difficulty passing gas and lately, for the past several weeks or so, light to mild nausea that comes and goes. I have only vomited once from horrible nausea, but that was at least over three weeks ago (or four) and I have not experienced anything as extreme since. I was just considering that maybe this would be a symptom of appendicitis, a rupture or potential burst?
Avatar m tn Have a doctor rule out appendicitis. Sometimes it is mistaken for gas or diverticulitis. Better to be safe than sorry. It could be Irritable Bowel Syndrome or something benign. Because you have a fever with it, I would suspect appendicitis - it doesn't always have the classic symptoms.
Avatar n tn I have recently been experiencing right side pain and mentioned it to my GP. He sent me for a CT which confirmed mild appendicitis. Don't have typical appendicitis symptoms other than pain and some nausea. My doc says to get it taken out. I went for a consult with a general surgeon and he said he isn't 100% that's my appendix since I don't have all the acute symptoms. He said there is no such thing as chronic appendicitis and my doc says "oh yes there is". UGH...
