1123420 tn?1350561158 I Was Told That Bladder Infections Can Lead To preterm Labor. I Have Them Regularly And They Were Actually Part Of the Problem I Had Trying To Get Pregnant For Almost A Year With No Luck. They Can Get SeveRe Enough To Put You In The Hospital And Can Also Lead To A Kidney Infection Which Can Ultimately Result In infection In Your Blood Stream And Affecting Your Entire Body.
Avatar f tn I believe I have one now, but is there any way I can treat it w something over the counter instead of going to my gyno? I been to my gyno 5 times this year already due to yeast/bacterial infections. Btwn school and work I have no time for a docs appt!! Do you think my dr would prescribe me diflucan over the phone w/o seeing? Also what r some over the counter medications that will clear it up if she won't prescribe me something w/o seeing me?
Avatar n tn Its common to get it while pregnant if you ard if your not it doesnt matter still let your doctor know and he or she will give you some antiobiotics but make sure if you are pregnant to let your doctor know asap because bladder infections usually cause.the baby to come earlier . Hope this helps and gooddluck !!
Avatar f tn yup its normal....doc gave me a cream for 5 days and it went away! good luck!
Avatar f tn Hi I looked this up, it used to be called Macrobid. It is just for bladder infections so that is good. If your doctor knows about your liver, I think this would be safe. I am not a doctor but I also have compensated cirrhosis and always worry about antibiotics. I learned that penicillin or penicillin family is the safest. In your case, it sounds like it is worth it to use it. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Sources of a persistent infection include a kidney or bladder stone, an obstructed kidney or ureter, or a chronic deep seeded infection of the kidney or bladder tissue that takes long term high dose antibiotics to clear. You need to see a Urologist who can order x-rays or an ultrasound of your kidneys and can look into the bladder and urethra for evidence of a persistent infection.
587946 tn?1240925653 HI, the first question is---- are these culture positive urinary tract infections (UTI) that you were/are getting every month? If so, then the organism needs to be identified and the correct antibiotic to clear your infection needs to be prescribed.
Avatar m tn A urologist offered a prescription for those same antibiotics i keep taking, but enough that i can treat myself whenever i feel an infection coming on. I will take a course of antibiotics to GET RID of the infection, but NOT to treat it. I also don't think that you randomly break out in a series of seemingly incurable infections for no apparent reason. HELP. i don't know whats wrong and quite frankly, doctors don't give a ****.
1972798 tn?1355549267 I went to dr this am and she said there is microscopic amounts of blood in my urine now. She is putting me on antibiotics but says if back pain gets worse to go to er right away because of chances it could develop into kidney infection. Hopeing it doesn't. I don't want to stay in hospital!
Avatar f tn s are very common in pregnancy - especially because your immune system is lowered. Are you on antibiotics? It is really, really important to treat bladder infections promptly, especially in the third trimester. Sex can be a big trigger for infections - make sure that you urinate after sex and clean yourself well. Also, if you have lots of discharge during pregnancy - make sure that you wear pantiliners and change them frequently.
Avatar n tn Most of the times that I used to get treated my wife used to as well. It is not just a female problem, males get it too. All the best.
Avatar n tn Do you know if your urine was cultured or was a urinalysis only done? Sometimes doctors start patients on antibiotics and dont culture the urine therefore treat the infection blindly. Sorry this is kind of late but i just logged on to this site. If you feel you have another uti make sure you have your urine cultured. If it was then you can try taking some AZO over the counter for your symptoms. Hope you feel better.
Avatar n tn A single antibiotic is never used to combat helibactor plylori infections. Three antibiotics are used at the same time. A more effective treatment (but this depends upon the etiology of the food poisoning) would be ordinary inexpensive pepto-bismal, whose germ killing ability stems from the substance bismuth, an effective bactericidal agent against virtually all bacteria.
Avatar n tn Hi, Nitrofurantoin is the generic name of Macrobid and is used to treat urinary tract infections. It is not expected to be harmful to an unborn baby, unless it is used during the last 2 to 4 weeks of pregnancy. You can first take the antibiotics until the prescribed period then take the pregnancy test after. It is important to finish the course of antibiotics even if symptoms improve before the infection is completely cleared. Take care and keep us posted.
1259720 tn?1269635121 Hi, I too used to come down with UTI at about every 3 to 4 months requiring hospitalization. I have had both the Strep B as well as a staph infection. While I had a staph infection in 2000 the infection spread into the left testicle and I ended up having an emergency orchiectomy to have the testicle removed. In 1996 I was diagnosed as having a neurogenic bladder needing intermittant catheterization to ensure the emptying of the bladder.
429700 tn?1308007823 Downside is now my body is resistant to it and with an infection I have to take much stronger antibiotics. But in its time it did clear up a lot of chronic problems. Bear in mind I am at the moderately extreme end of the scale, having now to mostly self-catheterize to void. This is not common and chances are you have much less in the way of problems.
Avatar f tn They gave me antibiotics but im only on the first day.. im hoping to get some cranberry juice in the morning..
Avatar f tn of infections with a mild chronic swelling of the bladder walls and cauterised the area so as to speed up the process. I was in the hospital for 5 days taking 3-4 antibiotics (very strong). Biopsies and more technical tests were conducted. From the bladder lining taken many staphylococcus hominis bacteria were found. I took antibiotics until 13.11.2008 (tablets - Selexid and Bactrimel) and in the next 2 days will have another urine sample taken.
Avatar f tn form of bacteria that is being researched--it causes bladder infections that are resistant to antibiotics. I am beginning to speculate that it might also be a cause of vaginal infections. It might be worth while to have some cultures taken to see if there is one specific organism that stands out, and treat that--often beta strep is prevalent. If you were my patient, I would also treat for yeast with Diflucan and probiotics.
242516 tn?1368223905 The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.
Avatar f tn Perhaps, you have a persistent/resistant type of bacteria and need to treat it for a long time with a combination of antibiotics, or with stronger antibiotics that you've already had. Aside from the scope, did you ever have any other tests, like an ultrasound (kidneys, ureters etc.) to check if there are any anatomical defects or kidney stones that could be causing the frequent UTI's? You mentioned you suffer from candida albicans. That's a yeast infection. Are you treating it?
Avatar f tn Cranberry Juice is suspose to help with bladder and urinary tract infections. I would also consult a pharmacist, or call the ER 24 hour helpline.
Avatar f tn Hi, From about 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI, kidney infections epididymitis and orchitis. I used to get this about every 3 to 4 months. I used to end up being hospitalized and get antibiotics through an IV. In 1999 I had a vasectomy in the hope that this would prevent the infections from going into my testicles. The vasectomy had complications and a year later ended up loosing my left testicle due to a staph infection. The rate of infections slowed down in 2000 up to 2003.
5900973 tn?1396064391 Hi I hat a uti for about 3 days before I went to the doctor. I had no burning when I used the toilet just felt like I needed to go straight after going. Im alergic to penicillin so doc perscribed antibiotics with out penicillian and I drank cranberry juice felt better almost straight away from taking the first antibiotic.
Avatar f tn I have had chronic bladder infections for years and have seen several different Urologists some in single practice, some in large practices with multiple doctors and even at large medical centers like the Cleveland Clinic and U of M Medical Center. I have brought in multiple urine samples which were tested then sent away for testing. They always come back showing bacteria. I've taken enough antibiotics to become allergic to Sulfa, Bactrum,Cipro and Tetracycline.
Avatar f tn my drs actually decided not to treat mine with antibiotics bc they stood there its such a strong chance of it coming right back while pregnant but that it's nothing to worry about
