I have had a problem with smelling like ammonia when I exercise. It is usually not until I get really warm that this happens. I've read conflicting info on this, saying I don't eat enough ( I do) or that I have too much protein or not enough protein. No matter what I do to my eating habits, it still happens. I also am not overtraining - sometimes I smell this after 10 minutes of exercise. I am overwright but consider myself athletic. I can smell the ammonia in my nose and on my breath.

Does anyone know what makes the guinea pig's urine smell so much like ammonia? I can't stand the smell, I'm so sensitive to it. I feed her pellets, apples, lettuce, celery,.....maybe something is more contributing?

As far as the inappropriate urination, make sure you clean up the area so the smell of the urine doesn't remain (don't use ammonia). The cat will continue to be attracted to these places. One thing you should seriously consider is a veterianarian visit to rule out any physical reasons that your cat might be missing her litter box.

Aftr she has been spayed (or sooner) your friend will need to get the urine smell out of the carpet, or kitty will keep thinking its her litter box and use. and you have to use a cleaner w/an enzyme in it to get rid of the ammonia, etc, so your cat can't smell the urine any more and continue to want to use the same areas. He prescribed a 10 day course of Doxycycline 100mg capsules which I took as prescribed. I returned to the doctors as my symptoms persisted.
