I have esophageal varices and have had 2 bleeds - first March 2007, second October 2007. They banded 2 bleeders after the second bleed and started me on Inderal and Prilosec. No problems since and no sign of bleeding. Does anyone have experience with esoph varices or know anyone with them? I'm wondering about the likelihood I will have another bleed...

I was just prescribed amlodipine for my gastritis how ever I can't seem to find any info about it being helpful for that. All the info I have found is about blood pressure. Is this a common prescription? Should I be concerned if I already have low blood pressure?

Thank you very much for your advice. I commenced on Verapamil last year which did reduce the average heart rate to around 50 and sometimes below. Prior to that the average heart rate was mid 60's. I replaced Verapamil with Amlodipine, however, my average heart rate still stayed around 55. I found the relatively small increase surprising as I had read that verapamil wasn't supposed to have much affect on the heart rate.

They started me on losartan 50 mg and amlodipine 5mg. And for some reason it seams like it is not going down, so I went to the ER and they increased my amlodipine to 10mg and adv me to contact my primary dr that following week.
